mATX parts tend to be a little cheaper because they are neither micro nor full-featured and the 1060 6gb when overclocked like +600hmz memory certainly will do the job if there are no other bottlenecks. Add a PCI blower and you're good. Well done. Only thing I would have done differently is choose a case with one bottom intake and put a 120mmx38mm industrial fan (making sure to program fan curve in BIOS) so the overclocked GPU (which should be deshrouded) will never thermal throttle.
Oooh that's an interesting idea, I loaded it with a small gpu overclock but since it's not for me personally, I wanted to make sure it's as stable as possible. But that's awesome advice! 👌
@@fletcherlesueur older architectures with a useful amount of ram tend to scale up better than you would guess which is exactly why manufacturers are so stingy: they might accidentally release another GPU people will still use years later like this one
glad you went matx ! :P any reason you when for the NF15 over the NH-U12a. You should have checked out the Thermaltake s100tg (i think they are Aus based?) the shift 850w only has a 450w 12+4 pin too
Yea, I went with the NH-D15 just because it is pretty much the best air cooler on the market right now and these 13th gen CPUs really need that performance. The s100 looks nice but I was pretty set on something with a mesh front, I just wanted to be sure I'd have heaps of airflow.
@@fletcherlesueur good reasons! noctua are great and the 140mm is a beast tbf I went with the 120 just cause I have some RGB ram and wanted to see it :p plus it got similar results with noise levels as the nf15. True, I have the s100 and have thought about looking for something with a mesh grill, but strangely the temps are great so the airflow must still be more than adequate. I took the front panel off to test this theory and the temps dropped only by 1.5c ! I also love having the 200mm noctua beast at the top of the case. Not many cases esp matx can accommodate a 200mm fan so it's quite unique looking
@@fletcherlesueur yeah, 100%. The only annoying thing I didn't do is measure the size of the s100, to be honest it's not much shorter than a mid tower. I keep thinking of looking for something else that can accommodate bigger gpus and perhaps fans blowing air up toward the GPU maybe like the nzxt H5 flow or something from deepcool. But rn I don't "need" to change anything. More of what could come in the future
Hey that's pretty good, I definitely couldn't get that within the budget but I honestly still reckon the direction I went was definitely my best option
@@fletcherlesueur bro you could have went for i5 12400F, gigabyte ds3h b660, DDR4 3200 and spend the rest on the GPU, 1060 isn’t gonna handle any game made in 2023
Man you really gotta revise your knowledge, I agree there are different approaches I could have gone. But a 1060 is certainly capable for now. This kind of build is an intermediate build before you have enough money to do another upgrade. I understand you're still learning but thats the purpose of this build. 🙂
If I make this same build, this will be my first PC ever so Would this price build be good for a workstation type just as well as good gaming? I’m just ISO a PC that’s great for gaming and streaming, multi tasking, etc etc
Yea, this idea would work relatively well. Just gotta balance your budget as best as you can. If a better gpu would fit into your budget, I would recommend that. The ryzen 7 7850 x3d is the best choice atm for just gaming. Otherwise, I would either go i5 or i7 13th gen.
Whew, those AUD prices are no joke. Nice build though.
That's for sure! Thanks!
What did you guys think of this video? Let me know!
you think $200 over budget is "slightly" lol
Hahaha yea I like to think so 😅
@@fletcherlesueur lol, me who has 3 dollars
Pretty much same here hahaha just trying to get through the week with $13 😅 it's a struggle

Oh and the 850w psu is for upgradability down the line when I get a better gpu for it.

Rtx 2060 would have brrn fore for £250
Yea those 20 series cards are going pretty cheap now but still don't really recommend them much. Just not enough going om for them to be worth it.
have you had a chance to use an RTX 2060? I'd love to know what their like.
13600 with 1060)))) i can buy 12400 b660 mortar max and 6800xt in this budget 32 gb of ram ddr4 samsung b-die

1658$ even in AUD for a damn GTX 1060 is so funny LMAO
