Uncle Tony it would not have felt good. One of the points I’m trying to make is that part of Jerry’s motive for wanting to rebuild the team was because he simply just didn’t like the people who worked under him and because he didn’t get much credit for the wins. It just goes to show he let his ego get in the way a little. If he was smart he would have rode the backs of the players and coach into a potential fourth championship. Instead he was just being stubborn.

As a billionaire he didnt do the right thing and renegotiate Pippin's contract to at least increase the pay to reflect the all-star contribution he was bringing. Scottie is such a nice guy, and only cared about providing for his poor family, why not suport a person like that and pay him properly?? Jordan was only paid 30 million that last year, and that was when Jordan's top power agents had to fight to owners to even get that amounnt. Minus taxes at 50%, Jordan only making 15 million a year after taxes, and yet he was making everyone millions of dollars around the world that added up to billions! Jordan was even more underpaid than scottie! And they disrespected Rodman, downplayed him so they didnt have to give one of the greatest defensive players in sports history his proper pay either! Jerry Reinsdorf is a slavemaster! He's not that talented in business, he got lucky where others did the genius work for him. And that last year he should have stepped-up like a real man and had some serious Bulls family sitdowns where everyone could air out their issues and resolve them so everyone could successfully do their jobs without daily resentment. Instead this bozo underpaid everyone and let them walk away where he was left with NOTHING from the Bulls dynasty. He's a bum of a businessman that got lucky.*
I agree with everything you had to say except for the part where you said Tex invented the Triangle. It wasn't he who had invented it, but the coach he played for did in the 1940s while at USC. That coach name was Sam Barry. Tex was the innovator who had further developed Barry's system.

If they would've brought in Doug Collins to replace Phil Jackson I believe Michael Jordan would've stay until 2000.
Interesting consideration. Doug was certainly very unlucky. They did better against the Pistons with him then every other team in the 89 postseason. But Jackson was a master coach and balancer of (huge) egos. Can't argue with 11 rings.
I look at it this way. There was no cap space to retool with MJ if he gets $30m the next season. Pippen also wanted to get paid, the Bulls are getting another year older (also among the oldest rosters to ever win the NBA) Rodman is unlikely to give you a full season of the quality of the previous seaeons. Sure Jerry blew it up, but it was reaching an end. Jerry may have wanted to be like Red and rebuild but he missed what made Red great. Red could have a relationship of mutual respect with his subordinates. That goes a long way with getting people to work with you and not against you. Whatever happened and however Jerry went about it all the key relationships were broken by the last dance.

I dont agree with everything with both skip and shannon I do agree with this one here and I give skip much credit for sticking to his guns and retelling this story as boldly as this. Phil Jackson gets a pass way too much and no matter how it may seem or he tries to spin it when it was all said and done he signs up with the Lakers which was another highly skilled team with promise. He is overrated as a coach and is all about money, all that zen and other philosophical way is just smoke in the air to his real underlining passion which is money same as all these entertainers and athletes no matter how much they act like it doesnt. What gets me is that Phil knew he was going out and imo was just as selfish and egotistical as Krause was yet hes painted as the hero.

Coming from a young man who was born in 1992. And didn't really understand the Jordan effect and era and only understood it from people who explained it to me..but after watching that documentary and I can see why Skip Bayless is the way he is about Michael Jordan because I defend Kobe Bryant the same way so I get it
People can say what they want about Skip like “I was there”. But I’ve grown to admire his discipline, dedication to tradecraft and decades of experience and historical perspective. As a sport journalist, he seems to outwork everyone else.

Mike I’ll have to look up when he came to Chicago so thanks for pointing it out. I happened to start watching First Take about 7 years and didn’t have a good opinion about Skip. I knew nothing about him and was going off of the opinion of others. The more I watched the more I grew to enjoy this attention to detail, work ethic and other attributes. A lot of people don’t like Skip and I understand but I’m not one of them.
