I appreciated your honest review, I have the scoop in the box without opening while watching your video, thank you for showing real images and setup information. Not bad for such small unit, I used to have a 5” Meade auto guide telescope, comparing with the S30 the difference is very low, not to mention the space to keep it in storage. I think I made the right choice, my expectations are not that high, just want to enjoy the beauty of our near planets and our close neighbor, Andromeda.
It doesn't look bad at all, only the RGB noise seems to be quite present, but for the price I think this is a killer device. Can't wait for better nights and longer exposure results.
The total exposure times are really short, which is why the noise is noticeable. The AI (de)noise option in the app does a pretty good job of smoothing the live-stacked picture.
Not bad at all for $349.99. The Seestar S30/S50 lineup is great piece of hardware. I wish ZWO adds more of the ASI Air features like 256gb storage in the Seestar lineup.
Theoretically a company should be able to combine multiples of these cameras together to get better resolution + lower exposure times. Would be cool if we had some SETI@HOME where hundreds of people could contribute to some faraway galaxy. or even some strange object in the sky for ultra resolution.
Hi, thank you for the quick overview, due to the lack of money, I'm considering of buying the S30 over the S50, can you do a comparison of these two, maybe that would help decide which one to take. Regards from Germany
Hi there! I've added it to my to-do list. I also have a guide on smart telescopes, where I compare models like the S30, S50, and Dwarf 3. You can check it out here: astroforumspace.com/smart-telescopes-best-buy-guide/
I do like these smart telescopes but Im going to wait till we get one that has decent optics which will allow both deep sky and decent planetary images. The guiding and software it seems is already there at a very decent level in most of them they just seem to not want to build bigger optics
For planets you need long focal length/big aperture telescopes like Dobs/Maks/SCT's. F/ratios of these telescopes are usually f/8 - f/12 which makes them less suited for deep-sky.
Hi Wido, love your bids, I'm disabled and I have the s50, because it needs the superimposed 2 green circles I now need something that does NOT require this, so my question is, can the s30 simply be placed outside without needing any alignments to work.
Mooie review.
Honestly, I find it difficult to quite see the point of this one. I guess ZWO decided that it was more important to get down to a lower price point than to create a more capable device. To me, it seems rather pointless to downgrade the capability to save a hundred and fifty bucks. I have no hesitation in recommending the S50 to anyone looking to get into electronically assisted astronomy and astrophotography. What the S50 can achieve is almost unbelievable compared to what I went through thirty odd years ago doing astrophotography with film cameras and manual guiding. But how much are you actually going to use such a scope? It can be a great tool, especially for getting a family into observing and capturing images of the universe. But if you're going to use it for more than one or two nights, surely it's better to pay the additional $150 to get the more capable version? Full disclosure - I also have a Celestron Origin, which is ten times the price, and much more capable again.
I originally was going to purchase the S30 but when I saw estimated delivery date was going to be 5/2/2025 I said ABSOLUTELY NOT and went with the S50 instead
Yes, the Seestar telescopes come equipped with light pollution filters and AI denoising to reduce the impact of city lights. However, it's still ideal to use them in a darker location with minimal light pollution for the best results.
I would go to the s 30 better chip and you have a larger field of vision plus it's excellent for day viewing. The s50 although more money and more powerful as the years go on the s30 will benefit from the updates more in the long run.

I really like your Reviews 👍 Veel Groeten uit Duitsland!

Dat je een gaatje in de bewolking hebt gevonden… bedankt voor de review!
Can you make a tutorial how to take photos with dwarf 3? I want to see a use of the best filters for each thing
there are other videos already
@ I haven’t found any that use different filters, it’s always the Astro filter
so if you had the choice to take either the s30 or s50 to a dark sky area for a nights shooting which would you take?

Thanks
Crazy expensive in Europe……and a side by side comparison with the dwarf3?
will work on that when the weather improves :-)
The dwarf 3 is much more money but might be much better with update 120sec shots

Tx! Didn't see the calibration mode during testing, but I did level the tripod before putting the s30 on.
Thanks Wido, just to clarify , can it simply be placed outside without Any leveling or adjustments of any sort and work ? , Keith, Wales.

Hey! I wonder if i can see the planets this month with the S30 or S50 smart telescope.
Check: astroforumspace.com/best-telescopes-to-photograph-the-planets/
Oh come on, let's be honest. The S30 and S50 are both completely unsuitable for planetary imaging.
Tanti saluti dall'Italia. Sto conservando i soldi per comprarlo 😊

S50 Is better in terms of resolution
Neither are good. Unless you live somewhere with perfect skies you will hate using that thing
@ that is your opinion…
@@ChiragGohil true I can’t wait to get my hands on it soon
Trust me. U won't regret.
Thanks will this work in a street with street lights?

I'm a begginer, but wants somehing premium. S50?

@@BigPoppa-t3zbigger fov but same resolution, resulting in less sharp pictures. The S50 with mosaic can take better looking pictures.
I went for the S30 as you need to upgrade to something bigger than the S50 anyway if you want more detail & observe planets.
I don't see benefit saving 150$.
