Cosmetologist is "ABOVE" A Barbers LICENCE!!! BECAUSE a Cosmo knows how to cut and beauty girls hair and color hair nails pedicures makeup 💄💋 eye lashes all beauty they only say you cannot use a razor blade ** But fuck it use it ** if u know how to do your fades and to niggas love y'all cuts do it and love it ** but a Cosmo is more like a Don't Mess With The Zohan type *** i say they need to unit Barber & Cosmetologist** 2 in 1 in school Program

Thanks a lot for this information Dave Cutz. I really am looking forward, optimistic to completing my cosmo schooling. I am an exfelon so I also worry about state board passing me. Do you have friends that have records? I do, but he got a barber's license. He is a two striker, and he got a barber's license from state board here in Cali. I am at 100 hours right now.

I'm a returning cosmetologist. I am in the process of applying to take my state board for reinstatement. I took a long break for Naval service.
Once I'm reinstated I'm planning on taking the 300 hours crossover training and getva barber license. However, I'm actually more interested in doing nails.
In Tennessee a cosmetologist cannot legally use a straight razor, but we are allowed to shave with a safety razor...it not called for a lot, especially if you are working in a beauty shop.
A barber cannot legally do a pedicure or apply a set of acrylic nails.
I don't know about FL, you need to check if cosmetologists can use safety razor.
Then as a woman, I've only let one barber cut my hair and it was jacked. It was not feminine or even. I don't think barbers use sheers as much as cosmetologist do.
I wantvto take barber classes to learn to use clippers and men's hair styles. A lot of men come to women's beauty shops and a cosmetologist that can do both genders hair will make more money.
I like to work with nails and women's hair. I like the fellows just as much, but you know. I will probably cut more men's hair as a cosmetologist than a barber will cut women's hair.

I am beginning to reconsider getting a barber license. It is a few thousand dollars of education that I don't really need to cut hair. I'm more interested in women's hairstyles anyway and am more likely to work in a beauty shop.
Cosmetologist are allowed to use clippers and I cam learn that on my own. Some jobs train you (Great Clips/Sports Cuts type salons. Though, I'm not a big fan of them because many times the owners are not licensed themselves and I know I need more than 15 minutes to give a decent hair cut...and the biggest disadvantage of franchise salons is they put privately owned salons at risk.
There will always be loyal customers who appreciate the care you get from a privately own salon. There is a big difference and my ultimate goal is to own my own nail and wax salon. So... I don't know how being a barber will help me achieve that.
If you are a cosmetologist you can work with women's hair if you ever want. Women pay a lot more for their hair than men do. It's an option. Money is money...there's no pink or blue money.

Yea Jordian is right .. here in Texas we are learning nail care and color treatment the standard is in the milady book and it’s the same here ah barber can use the razor and not the cosmetologist.. I wouldn’t hide my razors tho I would go get my barber license the cross over program is only 300 hours.
