Hi guys and thanks for stopping by! My name is Melissa and I have been a police officer for over 16 years now! I am currently a lieutenant in a large metropolitan police department and I created this video to show you the ACTUAL exercises you will be doing in a physically demanding police academy. These exercises were not pretty…especially when reviewing in editing…wow. But I really wanted to share this with everyone asking more about the physical training required in the academy! I hope that by reviewing this video, you can be more prepared physically for the police academy!

I seen a lot of cops are very unhealthy in the police force and i had to balance my meals when i was a former police officer but i drink plenty of water, eat healthy and did my workouts with body strength. Thank you Cop Mom.
Yes, it is true some officers are not the healthiest. Continuing to eat healthy and working out should be continued after the academy and for the rest of your life 💙
I'm not a cop but I want to say thank you for your service. I also do workouts with my body by pull ups at the park, cardio workouts on the Lakefront when it's hot or cold outside.
I also do push ups, jumping jacks, running in peace, squats and more. I'm also the same sizes as you. I'm still working out while I'm pregnant with me and my hubsand's baby on the way.
That is awesome, great job! And exercise, when your doctor says it's ok, is also so good for baby! I exercised during all of my pregnancies 💙

I work at Dunkin and i have to say it but it's disappointed to see a lot of cops are not in shape to be honest with you. I would have them come and get 12 dozen of donuts and x large hot coffees with extra cream and sugar. My wife would stop and drink her coffee, she likes to workout, eat healthy and drink plenty of water. She does those workouts that you're doing.
Maintaining physical fitness can be a challenge over the years, but I believe it is necessary for all officers to be putting in the effort. And trust me, we notice others who do absolutely nothing and let themselves go. It makes us all look bad. Your wife sounds awesome! 💙

Hi! Im a new subscriber! Im in the process of training my body. I feel great and im building my cardio......my plan is to pass my (PT Test) by mid August ....and push my application in right after i pass. While i await the next phase, im focusing on studying basics as you have suggested, cardio, and planks....lol. Im looking forward to 2025.....any advice for sore knees? Has your knees ever felt a little wobbly?
I don't personally deal with knee soreness but if you are able to, I would highly suggest meeting with a physical therapist. They can go over all your aches and pains and give recommendations. It has been so helpful to me and I still see a physical therapist. Keep up the great work and keep me updated! 💙

I’m good at doing push-ups non stop but from the videos I’m seeing on here, the push-ups have a plank hold after each one. How many push-ups/planks should I expect to do in the academy?
They’re going to switch it up depending on what you’re doing. They may put you in lean and rest for five minutes. Or they may have you do a combination of push ups and lean and rest. They used to say down and up at different intervals when doing push-ups which was annoying. But if you’re practicing with lean and rest and also doing several sets of push-ups each day, you will be ready for it. Everyone gets tired and fatigues but you just have to keep getting back up. You got this! 💙

I know LAPD js going intense with their PT due to all the crime there
I ruptured my acl coming down the other side of the wall and I am 5 months post acl reconstruction. My plan was to give it atleast a year post surgery before even thinking about applying but now I’m wondering if I will need to wait longer😬
Oh no! Listen to your body! I hate to see when people try to push themselves through injuries and hurt themselves even worse! :(

You CAN do them. Keep practicing and doing them routinely...set a timer if that helps. Discussing this in an upcoming video. You've got this! 💙
Do females have to do bench presses or pull ups?
In my academy not for testing purposes but in PT sometimes. Not often since both require equipment
Can you not do “girl” push ups at the academy?
No, just regular pushups 💙
