    Also, I remember being a kid watching this movie the first time and looking over during the jeep chase scene and seeing an “older” guy (he was probably in his 20s) who was leaning over the chair in front of him, gripping the back of THAT seat. I was riveted by the movie, but it struck me that even an adult was too.

    I only recently found out that this movie's budget was considered restrained after Hollywood had started doubting that Spielberg was all that good after 1941 flopped on a significantly larger budget. You can't tell by any means, they spent the money well.

    44:36...I hate this timeline. Kingdom of the crystal skull is an Indiana Jones movie. I have no problem with this character to be happy and happy all around.
    But now, everything is going down the toilet. A hero and a role model for men now dies in 2012 at the hands of the coffee lady. For me, that decrepit old man from the Disney company is not Indy...none of it. No rewatch value...like a turd, once you flush, you don't want to see that again.

      @@mysocalledgenxlife Yeah I forgave Crystal Skull for giving us the marriage, and for introducing Mutt - while not completely trying to overshadow Indy. The symbolic trading of the hat at the end endeared me to the movie as a bonus. The Last Crusade was the true ending, and Crystal Skull made a nice little encore performance. I didn't need more than that. They should have cut the monkeys though XD, and I kind of wish these men would start to take testosterone before making movies they really lost their edge later in life lol.

    I know I'm in the minority in saying this, but I never minded Kingdom of The Crystal Skull, it was one of the most fun experiences my 12 year old self had in the theater (Nuke the Fridge is comedy gold, sue me) , and I watched it religiously along with the other films. I enjoyed the 50's sci-fi and Cold War angle it had, I thought Shia Labeof's Mutt Williams was a fun addition and Harrison Ford still had it. Now that I'm older, sure, it had some flaws, but thought it was a nice little epilogue to Indy's story. As time went by I simple left it at that. I had no real desire for another one. Especially not after seeing The Force Awakens. I still haven't watched Dial.

      I always liked KOTCS as well, just as a fun summer popcorn flick that gave us a taste of what we enjoyed from the original trilogy. I was also just really happy to see Harrison Ford on the big screen again, proving he was the same action star we loved in the 80s and 90s.
      DoD is just as bad as the Star Wars sequel trilogy and Jurassic World movies.

    Crystal Skull > Dial of Destiny.
    People can say what they want about Crystal Skull (I enjoyed it for what it was), at least Indy still felt like Indy and the ending when he takes his hat back from his son was gold. Also, I never had a problem with the idea of aliens being in the Indiana Jones universe. If you're going to have an ark that melts your face, or the fountain of youth, you might as well have aliens in there at that point. The filmmakers at least tried to make it fit within the universe.
    It's also not like there haven't been theories about aliens helping to build our civilization or being worshipped as gods. You could've easily called Crystal Skull "Indiana Jones and The Chariots of The Gods" (a little nod to Erich von Däniken's novel and claims). I also give the film leeway because I've always been interested in Von Daniken's claims, primarily since I first got into the Stargate franchise (which also dealt with a crystal skull in one episode).

    • @mysocalledgenxlife
      @mysocalledgenxlife  Месяц назад +3

      I completely agree. If you get rid of the monkey scene, Crystal Skull is not bad. It had elements that were absolute gold. Ideally, they should have stopped at 3. But 4 was an acceptable post script.

      Yeah I also enjoyed it and I've seen it plenty of times, but I'm aware of it's flaws, sure, the alien thing is weird, and the monkey thing is ridiculous, but it still feels like an Indy adventure, and I loved that Marion was back.
      But a big complaint I have is how Mac is useless, remove him out of the movie and it stays the same, the same excuse some people have for Raiders and Last Crusade.

    • @tyrannozilla
      @tyrannozilla Месяц назад

      @@jesustovar2549 I can understand how some fans thought it was weird that the film dealt with aliens, but I thought it was a pleasant surprise. The marketing didn't really make that clear, so when it was revealed in the film itself, I kept thinking of Chariots of The Gods and all the theories about aliens over the years. Also, imo, I have an easier time believing in aliens and alien tech as opposed to lost arks and the fountain of youth. Don't get me wrong, that stuff's still fun in the films, but aliens are just more believable to me.

    I finally saw Dial of Destiny a few months ago after avoiding it in theaters (as much as I would have loved to see my hero on big screen), I enjoyed it, I wasn't expecting it to be good, it still has that feeling of adventure, John Williams score really works and I love the 60s setting, but I still have problems with the story and the shoehorned character of Helena.
