Wheel of Fortune's Forgotten Origin Story (Who Was Drunk During the Pilot?)

Wheel of Fortune's history dates back farther than Pat Sajak's first episode in 1981. The show was actually created in 1973 by Merv Griffin, and had a different duo hosting the show. It was NOT Pat Sajak and Vanna White. This video documents the forgotten origin story of Wheel of Fortune.

The mainstream media doesn’t realize they don’t have influence anymore

The corporate legacy media will not have a major influence on this year's election. The vast majority of Americans DO NOT trust the corporate mainstream media and millions have turned away from cable news on TV and are now getting their news from numerous other sources. No one cares about what the corporate media is saying. No one believes them anymore. The mainstream media hasn't gotten the memo.

I remember how my Mom told me when she gave birth to my brother in 83, the nurses were all in her room huddling around the TV watching the Thornbirds. It was a huge deal back then. The only thing I remember about it was the actor who played Q in Star Trek TNG was in it.

One of my favorites is the 1989 Australian mini series Bangkok Hilton with a pre fame Nicole Kidman. It follows a woman unfairly sent to Thai prison. Love those mini series, but they rarely show up on Netflix or other online platforms, not even for rentals. Glad a few are here. The 1983 Return to Eden is very good too.

I remember a mini-series called ‘Lace’ which was about a young lady who approached a group of women who gave birth to her as a teen. She had to figure out which one of them was her mother. It was successful because they made a sequel with her approaching a group of men to seek her father. I enjoyed it and was surprised my mother allowed me and my younger sisters watch it. 😂

OMG these are good choices. I’m old enough to have seen all of these IRL. Lonesome Dove and North &South were so good!!! The best thing about most of these miniseries is they were adapted from or had books written about the story. So like Harry Potter or Dune, you could watch’s the miniseries and stay in that world via the books. ❤

The Wheel of Fortune concept was stolen from a 1967 Elvis Presley movie (Easy Come, Easy Go) where he played a navy frogman. His buddy (Pat Harrington, later Schneider of One Day at a Time) unveiled the wheel he made that would aid in partying with hot babes. Years later, Merv Griffin would try to claim that his wife came up with the idea, but no - the writer of that original Elvis film was the real genius behind it.
