- Hi, I'm John LePore and this is my concept: Clients have been asking how to best take advantage of the Apple Vision Pro's capabilities, so we created this prototype for a spatial Formula 1 broadcast. Track the action on a volumetric track that rests on your coffee table, see realtime data and views.

Seeing this working at least in concept gives me hope that with advancedment in technology maybe we'll be able to have this with all sports, basketball, football, soccer. Of course these would be a lot harder to implement I imagine. It's a lot easier to get data from a car than a person. I guess we could make high tech super light weight trackers like we have for vr. I just think it'd be amazing to watch sports or racing this way. Idk how practical it is but it make me buy a vision pro lol

This would be amazing for any race series! Imagine being able to follow specific cars and even get POV views from inside the car!
Right. Or a view of the races from the jockeys pov, tennis, skiing, any sport really. What a time to be alive.
This would be the killer app that got me to reach for my wallet to get an Applie Visio Pro - awesome idea and I hope it comes to fruition.
Consider this my formal request for an interview. I have experienced the Vision Pro and watch F1 for years and if I could aide in the development of features that I have my wish list and beyond it would be a joy to work on the project. Great video and I look forward to meeting soon. Cheers TD

This is an excellent idea mate. I am a huge fan of F1 - have been one for over 30 years. This would make me want to pony up the money for the Apple Vision Pro. Hope you are able to pursuade the right folks to make this a reality!
Love this! Take it one step further... for each race you're not sitting in your own room watching this, you're transported to the best apartment/corporate box at the track, where you can walk to the window and look out over the pit lane, and hear the cars as they drive past the window... but you experience the race on the screen in this world. Shut up and take my money!!

The amount of time you put into making this video and the graphics really pitches the idea well. Would love to see this for more action sports. Or the Olympics. Downhill skiing and other sports that have topography of the course would be cool.
This could work with any Mixed Reality headset OR have a VR app that has a TV as well as the track below it with perhaps driver stats off to the side

The concept is extremely innovative. However, this makes watching F1 the loniest sporting experience out there. I do not see it working for people who watch F1 together with friends.

Now that's a ery useful and an amazing application for apple vision pro.
You're missing the biggest opportunity !!! what about being able to view the race from the driver perspective !!! - or, better still, sit in your own simulator and race IN THE RACE !!

Besides that minor hiccup this is a very great idea, I dub my hat to you sir.
As a F1 fan for several decades now, and having been to 3 three races in the last couple of years, I think this would turn watching a race into pretty much submerging yourself in the experience itself. Can't wait for this bit of the future to become reality.
Or how about just direct Vr360 from the cockpit. I mean, you are already wearing the glasses.
F1 can’t even reliably broadcast at 1080p50. Their graphics constantly glitch and the feed constantly drops. I have no faith in F1 to execute a concept as well as this

Its mind blowing the major VR players have not leveraged live sport to push their products. Billions spend on Meta VR and not one court side NBA seat

being able to see on boards from the vision pro, seeing the track on the table, or even seeing in from the stands similar to the nba courtside would be insane. would easily convince me to buy one once they get cheaper
I think integrating replays into this would be brilliant. For example, being able to jump into a car on track you select to get an on board view of a battle would be epic.
You should be able to click on any driver on the leaderboard and then u get their on board view like a POV as if ur the one driving the car

This is true for every sport and is one of the most exciting things about Mixed reality IMO.
This is a fantastic concept, yet it's 2024 and we're still getting low bitrate 1080p streams from the most expensive sport in existence.

But I truly hope this idea gets developed. F1 is so uniquely poised to push innovation in this field forwards, and in turn this would help both F1 and Apple seem more desirable. Seems like a no brainer
That will not be available for the home viewer for at least another decade. However, Broadcasters might use something like this to broadcast to our 2D Screens.
This is phenomenal and I’d love to follow the sport in such a way.

It would be crazy to have 180 stereo cameras on the cars and be able to touch a car in the table and getting into the pilot's stereo vision. Of course you have to have your VR Legs strong to not get nauseous with the movement probably.
Why would you limit this tech to just Apple? There are F1 fans like yourself that don't deal with Apple and would love this tech. Big mistake! Plus the Apple Vision is too expensive.

Viewing Formula One is also a communal activity. However, I believe that with the introduction of the Apple Vision Pro, this aspect might diminish, making it uncertain whether it will maintain its appeal and excitement for a wide audience.

Your concept is fantastic but your appealing to the WRONG audience. Your concept would be IDEAL for pit managers, team owners, and anyone else on a F1 TEAM who needs to have SITUATIONAL AWARENESS of what's going on with the car, driver, and track.
F1 embraces ANY technology that gives them the edge and having COMPLETE situational awareness is just that edge your concept can provide.
Appealing to F1 TEAMS to develop this concept means your appealing to DEEP pockets that we the average consumer just won't have. I really hope your able to be successful because getting F1 TEAMS to fund and develop this means down the road we the consumers would benefit.
I would pay for this app, but why limit it to Apple? Quest 2 is capable enough!

I’ve been snickering at the the hype and the device itself. $3500 for 3D goggles. I would immediately buy a pair if this was offered to me. I am a long time fan (since Jim Clark days) of F1. I subscribe to multiple social media feeds, and F1TV. But this I would pay for … immediately and without question … unreal. Yes. I hope to see this. I’ll be a subscriber.
Please make this app available for the Meta Quest 3. This VR headset can do the same things as the vision pro, but for Far less money.
Will your incredible work remain a prototype? Or are you seriously considering developing such an app? I own an AVP and also are an avid F1 fan. Would LOVE to view such races on my AVP with this type of visual experience.

Man this would be amazing for ANY SPORT. Especially E Sports. Imagine watching Football and being able to say have the top down view beside the TV or what not. Or watching an FPS tournament and being able to have the Map on your floor then different Players POV"s where you want them....
IBM has a partnership with Augusta National for data visualization at the Masters golf event. It's really cool, but it would be even cooler if they used your volumetric sports/spatial computing expertise!!! Would you ever consider it Mr. LePore?
I hate you a little bit, because I love your idea so much that I'm jealous I won't be able to experience anything similar this next season. I'd love to spend a beer writing about this, but I can't right now. Top of mind thoughts are: Yes to spatial sports visualization and yes to F1 being the best for this, but no to AVP being essential for this. IMHO Quest 3 is good enough for this. I'd pay good money to have multiple cams + time panels + other info panels + track position ++. Also a bummer that TV righs would be an issue, wouldn't they? because I would also pay F1TV if it was available in Spain. Congrats on your project, congrats on your video presentation too, best of luck, I cannot wait to have something like this available (not going to happen on a 3k headset though)

I've been to one NASCAR race and I was not impressed. I'm not a big racing fan but this is an amazing idea. It's sure to be a reality... we just don't know when. This would absolutely get someone like me much more interested in F1! Maybe with the Vision Pro 3 or something lol

Spending $3500 just to watch something in 3D instead of going there in person is CRAZY... something only Apple idiots could get into.
This is obviously super cool and it would be great for all track racing especially MotoGP and WSBK. Here’s a whole new other idea: this tech would transform one of the most extreme but least known & least understood events in the world: the Dakar Rally. This tech would compile in real time but the viewers could watch when and how they wanted, every day, day after day, during and after the event, adding a huge new dimension to the way the application is used currently. The unique problem with the Dakar is its complexity and its remoteness: multiple vehicle classes - motorbikes, quads, desert racers, rally cars, trucks etc - all racing day after day, across the harshest terrain, in conditions that frequently force the organisers into last minute changes on a daily basis, but with only a loosely set course (it’s a ‘navigation event’ not merely a race), different start times & often different waypoints with competitors finishing stages hours apart. Up to know it’s been impossible to cover, despite the huge media army, legions of helicopters & ground vehicles, thousands of support staff & the massive travelling tented city (knows as the bivouac). This tech could transform that. Also it has moved to the Gulf so it has oil state sponsorship. Plenty of money there.

You know, while we're at it, Formula One is a good testing ground for such ideas and all, why not also expand in applying the tech over to the WEC and IndyCar?
F1 and Apple certainly have their parallels; shiny & expensive does not equate to exciting & engaging. I love this idea, no doubt. But it all feels a bit surreal to even need to crowdsource these kinds of killer app ideas for high-priced tech toy produced by a company valued at over 3 trillion dollars.

Literally had the same idea, early days of the Microsoft holo lens and someone had made a realistic Yu-Gi-Oh concept, I've been into 3d and AR ever since
I wholeheartedly support this app tbh, but please please please, if you do it, dont limit it to the most expensive headset around. Maybe make it work on the popular ones as well, like the q2 qnd q3. Thank you in advace!

I think I would actually get into F1 if I had an app like this! Just having the God's eye view would really help my engagement and make me more invested in the sport.
good presentation, but somewhat flawed imo, for the simple reason that you are making the same mistake as TV (ie same content for all). I have always believed in separating the raw material to final presentation through independent agents. Let's say you have a host a dinner. You can go the conventional route or you can get 5 teams of chefs and give them raw food and let them come up with dishes then serve these as you see fit or better still, serve all and let guests decide. Of course, it is wasteful but then if you host dinner everyday, you would be able to optimize the process. The point being you did not force your (undoubtedly seasoned) reasoning on others
