    I am attempting to grow a syngonium from cuttings in water. My mother gave them to me after she almost killed her plant. The original plant given to her was my grandmother’s. My grandmother grew her syngonium from cuttings her mother gave her.
    I’m it’s last hope…..lol. Wish me luck! I’d love to keep the tradition going and give cuttings to my future daughter.
    Your video was so down to earth and simple. Thank you…..it’s just what I needed.

    Syngoniums are one of my favorite types of plants - so underrated! I definitely agree that they seem to prefer lower light. The leaves quickly get washed out in color or droopy when getting too much light. I've never had issues with thrips with all of mine but they have battled spider mites numerous times. I guess it depends on the weather/region! I finally got my hands on a Rayii after so long and I'm obsessed with it.

    • @evicaf4e
      @evicaf4e 2 года назад

      Hmmm my syngoniums love bright (in)derect light... they do get direct light especially in the summer time. They love it, if I put it in medium-low light they will stop growing.

    • @Weirder_the_better
      @Weirder_the_better 2 года назад +1

      @@evicaf4e interesting!! Maybe mine have just adjusted to these conditions. I’ve tried giving them direct light in the past but they burned! 😩 but bright indirect light seems to be a good way to go for most plants!

    • @evicaf4e
      @evicaf4e 2 года назад +1

      @@Weirder_the_better yes, I know... maybe mine are just used to it, but yes I have a tree that blocks that sun rays in some way, but they still reach the window. But so many of my plants died because I dont have them right infront of that window. But I think that plants get used to the light you provide them some extent and will tolerate it.

      Moved my Syngoniums away from the window as I was watching this video as I did notice the leaves going all bleached after a sunny day outside!!! Hopefully, now they will thrive a little bit further away from the window :)

  • @BLANKU2

    My Syngonium's thrive under a skylight and I always keep them in plastic pots hidden in catch pots so I'm not dealing with water in ceramic this way I can lift them out and check for moisture. Every time I've tried potting them in terra cotta or ceramic pot it throws them off. I 100% believe in plastic planters for them and also too bottom watering as well.

    I also love syngonium! I love them vining, climbing, what ever way they wanna grow! They are wild and unruly and I absolutely love them. And so do spider mites. I've nearly reached my wits end with the whole spider mite thing. I would absolutely chunk every plant in my collection if I got thrips. I don't have the time nor the patience for such pests.

    Totally agree about the thrips! I never had any until I got a couple of syngonium. But fortunately they are pretty easy to get rid of. I gave mine a nice shower, sprayed with Neem oil soap spray, and then top watered in some worm castings to help it recover (it was still putting out a ton of new growth).

    my favorite are my grey ghost or milk confetii for sure! my favorite propogation hack for syngonium is air layering the aerial roots back down into the soil, then cutting between each root to have a fuller plant without having to root seperately and repot. Ive never had a failiure that way!

    It's so weird that all the problems you have had with your syngoniums I've never had, I wonder if it's to do with environment (I'm from australia)? My syngos are against a window and get direct morning light, have only had spidermite once because I introduced an alocasia that had them (never thrips), and they've never had root rot and im an overwaterer (except my panda once but I repotted that and its fine now). Definitely my most hardy and beautiful plant, and one I recommend to everyone. Love them ❤

    • @emmap3283

      i think its definitely partially a humidity thing! i find thrips are a lot more aggressive in lower ambient humidity, and sun strength would definitely be different in oppposite hemisphires i think. Maybe I should move to australia for the thrip repellent air haha!

    I have the common one you see everywhere, it was part of a gift basket I took apart. It doesn’t do well until I put it outdoors in the spring, where it gets AM light and indirect the rest of the day…then it grows like crazy and looks beautiful. So maybe it’s the lack of humidity indoors. I bought a ruby arrow one today!

    I'll comment latter cuz just like i said in the last video (I don't have TIME), BUT i commented now cuz syngoniums are (or was my first plant to grow & they made me fell in love of plants & they're my favourite plants), also in the last video you showed us the plants that they're dying, and the first one which has a big wound in its main stem (cover the wound with a wet paper towel "a little bit wet" and then wrap it up with duct tape or something against the stem "keep the air out", just keep the wound covered tightly) and as i said before I'll come back and tell you tips about saving the other sick plants, and don't worry they can hold on enough time except the 1st one that i wrote about, I'll be back soon i swear

    I loved my syngoniums so much! Especially my pink syngonium. They were so full and vibrant and then thrips invaded them and I tried everything possible to save them, but never could. The Neem didn’t even phase them. I repotted and bought everything I could to save them, but I had to throw them away in the end. That broke my heart. I was really attached to them. I won’t ever get syngoniums again, despite how much I love them.😔

    I love Syngoniums but they don't love me 😢Thank you for this video. I am thinking it must be a light issue, not many plants truly thrive in lower light. I will give this a try. PS, I love your eyeshadow! Could you tell me what you are wearing? 💚💚

    hi harli!!! I recently got a syngonium batik from you! Do you think I should let it adjust to my room for a couple weeks then repot or what is the best way to make it thrive?
    Syngonium are definitely my fav! I have a syngonium confetti and I love the foliage. Best one for sure 🤩 can’t wait to see the batik be as full as my others :)

    Spidermites are the worst on my syngomiums so far. Not too bad this year since I know to check and wash off leaves.

    Glad to see you and love the tips you give. I definitely struggle with them I bought a extra large butterfly syngonium and it was outside it loved because of the weather where I live I brought it in and it died. I also have another that is large and now a lot of my leaves are yellow and it doesn’t seem to be doing well. Not sure what I should do.

    I have recently started growing my syngonium collection. I like to start with one plant of any type and if I don’t kill it, I get more, lol.

    Thanks for this video. Came at a perfect time. I have some Syngonium in east facing window and one in the west, off to the side. It seems the leaves just are getting any larger 🤷‍♀️. Can’t figure out why.

    Mine was never a problem, but after I cut her down and repotted she’s never been the same . She always unfurls her leaves black. I’m putting one in the bathroom to see if anything changes😢
