But Greg’s actions being justified in the books only enabled classmates bullying me at the time, not helping them find anything wrong with bugging me and others with more Rowley tendencies.
Greg’s character development is not super existent in the books and it’s EXTREMELY slow. The point of the series is that Greg is a narcissistic jerk lol. He does have a few moments here and there that just make you go “well that’s not totally terrible”, but he’s still a jerk. However, it’s easier to overlook in the books because of the half-comic style. It’s different with a cartoon character. Meanwhile in the movies they tried to make him more likable over the course of 3 movies. The movies are a super different experience. In any case it’s pretty interesting to analyze the series ngl. Greg has kind of a superiority complex.
Whenever I read DOAWK books, I always feel simultainously sorry for and angry at Greg, because he gets into a lot of bad situations and a lot of people act like jerks to him, but at the same time he's a blatant narcissist as well as being extremely naive and unwise. Also the way the books are presented makes you feel like rooting for Greg, so I always feel very conflicted.
I have the book that documents how this movie (and Rodrick Rules) was made. The cheese is a white piece of silicon, and any effects to make it look old and moldy were CG. That said, they did have to place a real piece of swiss outside and observe it getting moldy in order to make it look real for the movie.
I'm not surprised that they messed up the artificial lens flare; I'm still thinking about how the moon is in front of _clouds,_ _and_ has stars appearing within its supposedly dark area.
Fun fact, behind the scenes in the mother-Son dance, practical effects team would need to make several scoops of ice cream for every single take because they would melt under the lighting. At the end of the session of shooting, the wastebaskets were filled with single licked ice cream cones. It was also said It was the saddest day of production
Jude: "I've never read any of them because I hate reading" Lol the only reason I read these was because I hated reading and there were plenty of pictures to fill up space 😅 I'd choose these books for school assignments lol
My middle school literally for a whole year took the doors off going into the bathroom. Reasoning? "To keep an eye on us". Oh, and half the school had to sit on the floor during lunch because we had double the amount of people they expected
My dad pointed out how Greg was really manipulative when I was a kid. I didn't know what that word meant, and I didn't care. I still liked Greg. Now that I get older, I realized how kinda... mean Greg was
4:23 i watched this movie with my family yesterday and when the coach said "alright ladies! put the knitting down!" my dad went something like "he called them ladies? fuck him."
"I'm the one who ran them over!", Greg Heffley exclaimed with excitement, as the faces of twenty mourning family members, standing over the grave of Rowley Heffley, turned to him with expressions of horror...for they knew what he was capable of...
I mean, yeah. He’s old enough to realize his mom is shallow and doesn’t care about humiliating her kids if she looks good and that his dad is emotionally unstable (the man is either entirely vacant or flying off the handle, no in between) so he just doesn’t bother trying with them, and frankly Greg needs someone to take his ego down a few notches.
me and my neighborhood friends would actually play a version of the game at 12:50 where one person would slowly ride their bike down the street while everyone else stood in rows on either side of them and threw crab apples that fell from one of the neighbor's trees at the wheels. yes i was homeschooled and yes my life was incredibly boring why do you ask?
