I dont know this this helps or not, but I've noticed a lot of people using the straightforward on melee and kindhearted on mages. The way the a.i works is in tandem with inclination. If you want your melee pawn to actively use optimal skills, try calm, or simple. Straightforward pawns are meant for braindead fire and forget types. If you actually want to utilize the skills your pawn has, calm will see them use the most efficient skills to help the team win, while simple is a mix between the two, but when not in combat will gather items.
For mages, i know a lot of people may think kindhearted is ideal, but that severely limits their effectiveness (they will only try to heal and not often use their other spells) the last thing you want if you are a melee class, is your healer running over to you in the middle of the combat. Try either calm, simple or even straightforward to mages. (straightforward, and calm for sorc) If you need a heal, use the help button, but having calm will make them actually keep their distance, and use their spells more effectively instead of just spamming heal. Straightforward if you actually want your mage to contribute more to dealing damage, like i said, you can always use the help command to get a heal in, and the AI will auto heal you if your health gets that low.
For rangers, i found either kindhearted or calm to be the best, (kindhearted if playing a caster) as a caster a kindhearted ranger will protect you from enemies targeting you, while a calm ranger knows to keep distance and pick off targets from a safe distance.
Hope this helps. (too often i see everyone putting kindhearted on all their pawns, and they end up being very ineffective in combat)
P.S: If you have a simple pawn with the chori (pawn uses curatives on others) you can almost eliminate the need for a mage, as your pawn will actively collect healing items and use them on you and your other pawns. Slap that on a sorc, fighter or ranger and you basically free up a pawn slot.

Not entirely accurate from my experience. I had a "straightforward" sorcerer and the crazy bitch would climb on drakes and get launched, as well as pick up enemies and throw them while I'm charging an attack.

I've had many kind-hearted mages that deal decent dps in tandem with me as well as providing good support while staying out of the crossfire.

Ring of brawn works off of actual weight not the encumbrance tier. Seems to be under 15 gives 10% damage, over seems to be 5% damage (have not tested if or when you lose the 5%).

Thanks for the info. I did end up switching this out for Agression, although with high gear and level it ends up a bit moot - pennies on the dollar.

I have a calm pawn, and I play a trickster so lemme tell you I know exactly what he's doing at all time, and he haven't done anything the streamer's pawn do like jump to their death, afk in fight or so.
Idk what happened, maybe the very first few action you do matter, but so far, be it fighter, mage, sorc and rogue, my main pawn have been a beast

You just have to give your A.I specific skills. I’ve figured out “meta” skill setups for everything and meta warrior really only uses 2 skills

And ring of brawn seems to only work on unhanded

I haven't seen anything near as good as Thief. Warriors do make good pawns. I was just noting how the AI doesnt do a good job at picking skills - its pointless to fully charge when there's a sliver of health, etc.
I haven't found anything close to the DPS of a Thief pawn, but have you?

@@purensanitee8203 yeah. Sorceror solos bosses easily with my setup. Every meteoron does like 3 bars. And my warrior takes half a health bar per ability which is a bit more consistent than my thief because he can contend with big bosses
