I recently hired a cheap rental, a Golf 1.4 petrol. over 320 miles and I didn't hang around I got an astonishing 67mpg.
I was very surprised how such a little engine could produce respectable quick performance in a golf size car and still return very good fuel economy.
I get about 30mpg since my stage 1 map.Was only getting 24.4mpg before.I always bring the car up to temperature before I drive it.
Cool ! Shows the engine's capabilities as I imagine if you are on it you would dip into the low 20's with a stage 1 may. Handy it can do both sides :-)Thanks for the comment !

The mpg on the golf r is equivalent to my e63 AMG, or maybe a little worse!
Could also save petrol by not driving at all.
I get 170 miles from my golf r, £60 full tank! My Toyota does nearly 2.5 times more miles than this gas guzzler

I've seen 19mpg out of a 20minute Journey on a fast drive a few times so the variation is quite big.40mpg+ can be done but its not exactly fun for everyone but at least the car settles down and just becomes a bit of a cruiser which is cool ! :-)Thanks for the comment !
