Dusan, Some of my fellow Americans gave your pal David {Plasmo} a hard time about his build. Trying to claim 51 didn't have an antenna wire through the canopy and he used the wrong type of fuel tanks. Both claims were of course rediclicious. The fuel tanks you've prepped for this 51 are the American early sheet metal types, not paper, paper have ribbing in the nose and rear for extra strength. Then later versions were the 75 gal. all aluminum teardrop shape. The 51 without the antenna wire through the canopy were Ft. Wort built 51's which had the "Dallas" canopy {shorter in height and a bit more stocky, pilots hated them} the wire went to the starboard side of the fuse just above the radio compartment. They also had the Aeromaster props which shook badly and were replaced in country {ETO, MTO, PTO} with Hamilton Standard props until the problem was rectified. Beautiful build, I like the Squadron choice. Looks good on the dio. Enjoyed the entire vid, and I don't even like 51's I'm a 47 guy through and through! Thanks!
Thank you Bob for comprehensive comment and explanation for the props upgrade. Regarding the f.tanks, I have assembled the tanks and finish them for review. But I didn’t have any intention to use them, because they look (IMO) extremely ugly and will destroy the look of the P-51. And finally I can concur on P-47... my favorite and even more beautiful than P-51 (again IMO). thank you very much! All the best! Dusan
@@ScaleModelAircraft Dusan, Actually how you have them set up, near the 51 is how you'd find them on the airfield. So the dio looks perfect. The build vid you did a couple years back on the Tamiya P-47, I re-watch time and time again for my Tamiya P-47's. Between you and David, my model building has gotten better & better. I'm now no longer worried about PE, scratch building or using resin. All the best my friend! - Bob
An epic build, Dusan. Such precise and beautifully executed modelling from an artist who is a pleasure to watch. Every aspect of the build is truly enjoyable experience.
Saw this kit build on another channel , I will say both of you produce excellent work. However I like your addition of the allied airfield plates. Keep up the excellent work.
Excellent work ,I'm building the same Eduard kit .I have noticed that the part that you attach the batteries and I've noticed other modellers do the same and that they paint that part int green, but the instructions call for matt black. Its a very cool kit and I'm really impressed with Eduard.
If it werent for subject matter, i dont think i would buy anything but Eduard. Fit, detail, and plastic quality is unrivaled in my opinion. Especially since you get Photo Etch and beautiful decals right in the box with the profi-pack. They're quickly establishing themselves as the new top dogs. Especially since the alternatives are often pricier and not as high quality.
Captain Hecker, Eduard have raised the bar pretty high and the others will need to step up their games if they are going to stay competitive in this market. Subject matter selection is one of the few reasons I look beyond Eduard.
I totally agree. I used to be a staunch Tamiya fan but lately I am finding Eduard is the new top dog. Especially in terms of surface details and just general accuracy of models, I literally have no idea why Tamiya refuse to add rivet detailing to their kits, despite maybe not being 100% accurate I just find the rivet detailing in Eduard kits adds soooo much interest to their kits off the bat. I do maintain that Tamiya still seem to have a slight edge over the others when it comes to engineering/fit but they are very over priced and I would almost invariably choose Eduard now. When it comes to WW2 fighters in 1/48 scale Eduard is simply in another league, to the point it’s not even worth looking at others anymore. Their bf109s, fw190s, spitfires, tempests, hellcats and now mustangs are so much better than the competition. When you add in the PE and the canopy masks as well it is perfection in a model kit. Don’t get me wrong I still love Tamiya kits, but essentially Eduard is becoming to WW2 what WingNut Wings is to WW1.
@@Austrian-Painter-88 , Yep, I agree on all points. Additionally, The Eduard "Look" line of products are especially nice. I currently have a 1/32 Tamiya P-51D on the bench and the Look instrument panel is truly a thing of beauty. It's such a very different game since I started modeling 50 years ago.
@@Austrian-Painter-88 Couldnt agree with you more. As an example, i recently built the tamiya 1/48 Mustang, and while it was a decent kit, it didnt come close to the Eduard BF-109 and FW-190s i've built. And from what ive seen in this video, their new mustang kit is the best in the business. I hope they continue to make it work.
Excellent build video! Love the Beer in the Eduard Beer glass! Wonder if anyone picked that up? Eduard are now up there as one of the top model manufacturers in the World. On par with Tamiya!
Thank you so much for posting another awesome video and model built by you It was well worth the wait please keep them coming as I look forward to your next video dude.
The over riveting details on the Tamiya kit was shocking. Eduard may have recycle-quality box material and for sure detached canopies from the wheel, On the accuracy level, Eduard is second to none. Great kit end up in experienced hands, its a match made in heaven.
Thank you! No special effects, it’s a real US-... flag on the wall. A special gift from a special man from a special historical event (Marines...). All the best! Dusan.
Thank you! Catalogue? It was available at the fair for free literally there was a pile at Mr.Hobby stand. I took only one (:P) There’s a pdf version online probably . all the best! Dusan
Maybe something about how to make your painting look better. At least thats what is my biggest Problem (building my fourth model right now) Edit: The video doesn't have to be that long. And I think maybe something you had trouble with while building your first model(s).
How to break down the project into sub assemblies and when to pre finishing. Your weathering is sick and it would be sweet to see some of your tricks. I’d like to know when and how to deviate from the instructions and what references you use for your finishes
That P-51 model build was fantastic. But I have to ask, why go through all that extra trouble of metallic “color variations” around the exhaust when it’s going to be covered over with that large black & white striped decal?
Thanks! Well I don’t look at the final cammo during the build. I might change my mind for the squadron during the build. Anyway the stripes cover 70% of the panel not the complete section. To be honest I like P-51D in olive drab but this was a unique boxing that’s why I decided to choose this one. All the best!! Dusan.
Nice work, real nice! What is the putty or whatever stuff, that you use to hold small parts on the sticks to paint those items? Looking for something of that nature, but dont know the items name and where I can acquire it.
Great model! I'll definitely have to try one of these Eduard kits, they look so good! Did you also made from scratch the display base with all the "Marston mats"? :)
I've seen two awesome builds of this model in 3days. Yours and PLASMO'S great model. Keep them coming!!
PLASMO is no. 1 moduler i'v seen !
A day with a video from Dusan is a good day! As always FANTASTIC build of my favorite modeler! Great Mustang!
Thank you very much! Alex you should build this kit, you will enjoy it!! All the best! Dusan
Thank you, was bored these days now I know what hobby I am going to start.
Awesome job. I cant even begin to fathom the time it took to build this beautiful model of one of the greatest fighter planes ever built.
I appreciate your attention to accurate details especially wings and control surfaces that sometimes are overlooked, beautiful work!!!!

Amazing attention to detail once again!
Very nicely done, and not absurdly over weathered like so many other modellers do! 👍🏻
