    Of course I'm bringing Kislev back! While we all impatiently wait for new Kislev releases ( it will happen) I got started on my Kislev Winged Lancers! I have some unpainted, and some that were previously featured in a White Dwarf article-please help me out! Do I keep them as are or repaint? I'll be using these fine boys as Empire Knights and I love how they love in the orange and black scheme! Let me know what else you're looking forward to in my Dogs of War project!

    I'm normally one to say strip and repaint one's old stuff but... honestly, those old Kislev models do sound like an important little historical note! I loved seeing things in White Dwarf mags, and to this day I wonder about some famous armies seen in them, like that guy who made Steppenwolf his Chaos Lord every time he could, or Adrian Wood's Orks led by Grishnak. Or Paul Sawyer's White Scars. I wonder about where those things are.

    Man, I am LOVING the mashup of lore mixed with your painting and general army discussion! I agree that there is no way in Hell GW doesn't bring them back at some point especially with the introduction of the Kislevites in Warhammer Total War. If only the minis from the GW released pics in 2020 were on 30x60 I would consider it inevitable but I suppose there is a very small likelihood that we never see them reimagined. Your point regarding the map being wide open and ripe for some fleshing out is very valid (and I hope you are right!). That said. I am pumped to watch you develop your DoW forces and commend you for taking on such a little known faction from the Golden Age of Warhammer. Thanks for all that you do, Andy!!

    I remember that Kislev army from White Dwarf, I've been digging through to see if I could find which one but I think that issue must be stored in my parents shed. I too have a decent Kislev force from last century awaiting a repaint and an old world release.
    I say absolutely strip and repaint those Kislev models, I'm sure they looked nice and crisp once upon a time but they're probably a bit dull and chipped by now. Also, nothing looks better than a fully cohesive paint job and basing on a ranked up Old World army. At a minimum if you decide not to strip them you gotta rebase them to match.

    Personally if you’ve got 10 to paint up for a dogs of war army I’d leave them at that, that’s enough for a dogs of a war force. I’d leave the other kislev riders and units are are. Eventually when they do release new Kislev units you could match up newer models to the ones you’ve already got. Be fun and something different for you. He did a great job with the green and all the other colours I thought. Very nostalgic

    One thing I would suggest is adding a list of paints used in the description.
    I'm probably never gonna paint one of these minis but I really love the look of the horse. Being able to look in the description and grab the names of the triads used would be a helpful thing for me. As I find it hard to watch a vid and note down things at the same time. I understand if you don't as it is a bit of extra work but it would be helpful.

    • @MediocreHobbies
      @MediocreHobbies  4 месяца назад

      That’s a great suggestion, trying to switch things so my editor has more time for that-usually she gets the videos about 1-2 hours before upload so don’t always have time for paint lists but we’re trying!

    Kislev will be the only reason I play old world. Im actually excited to potentially play them someday and am genuinely happy I never got rid of my army. Definitely will be doing some touch-ups on my old models. May have to strip the leader characters down though as I want them to be updated at my current skill level which is literally a decade better than what it was and they were painted to a decent tabletop standard

    I was worried at one point as the horse and feathers/oranges looked very similar. But once you went in with the highlight they really started to pop in their own ways.
    With regards to the old models, personally I think you should leave the old models but maybe add a few touches to them to add your own history to the army. Yes they're a part of Warhammer history but their also part of you're history too now. So yes I say keep the scheme but go in and add some highlights etc.
    I like this series it's fun and I'm learning about the history of Warhammer at the same time as I've never really dived into the old world lore.

    You said that Kislev has a variety of styles depending on the region the unit comes from.

    What if you instead of stripping those old painted Kislev models, did a restoration paint job on them so that they look like they used to, only with modern paints in a similar way to how oil paintings are restored? That way they still have that same iconic look, just with updated paints.

    Only you can decide the fate of those Kislevites. If it were me i would be inclined to leave themand patch up the existing paint job. Sounds like they have a real place in rw Warhammer history. Rebase and incorporate ino your army or use them as a 1st unit to expand into an entire Kisleb army when the time comes. You might find that a record of a sympathetic restoration of old paint might make a vid that people want to see.

    Great to see the Winged Lancers models, as it was referred to by GW (Winged Hassar, as historically referred to as). I am sure new plastic model be produced, if Old World is profitable, and can be proxyed as Empire knights. Too bad if they are made available, the price point will prevent players from fielding 10 to 20 of them. I am not certain Kislev will be used in Old World unless the entire range gets a refresh.

    • @pepehai
      @pepehai 4 месяца назад

      Kislev doesn't need a complete refresh, a lot o their models are still pretty good looking, they just need few more units. Also, most likely the russian invasion on Ukraine was one of the reasons for halting their rerelease. But in that case, they could just cut off / retcon the russian parts of Kislev lore and it would be good to go. It's the matter of just changing few names.

    • @williamamely7038
      @williamamely7038 4 месяца назад

      @pepehai Maybe you are correct, but I recall what the old models looked like, and it wouldn't hurt to have new plastic models. But, of course, it's up to GW to determine if the interest, and profit is there.
