I am very sorry that such an entertaining and interesting channel has few subscribers, there are other channels that are shit and you have many subscribers, you should have 1 million

RUclips done a good one recommending this. In my opinion it would have looked better with a darker wood but well done on the restoration looks amazing

I don’t like hanging an axe with a handle like that but I know it works well and allows for a proper wedging effect to occur. I use mineral oil with very fine sandpaper instead of water as I like it a bit more and it works better for the paper I use. I don’t like a full mirror polished head, but you did well on this axe and it was needed more in this situation. The wedge for the axe should be made to fit the eye of the axe, have rounded corners, and needs to cover the entire length of the eye. Never hit on the wedge directly with a hammer. You can put a piece of wood in between it so it’s a lot better. I wouldn’t recommend taking the axe to the stone, but instead the stone to the axe to sharpen it. Using a file to remove a lot metal and thin the edge as well as setting the bevel is important. Then, using a puck sharpen the axe. I’d recommend watching SkillCult’s video on making a puck for $5. Flax oil or Raw linseed oil work well for an axe handle. Just leave it to dry in the sun and after coating it wipe some of the excess oil so it won’t become sticky.

Thanks for your insight, interesting to hear a more experienced take on the process. It’s a great little axe and a really enjoyable restoration, I’m hoping my technique will improve as I become more experienced.

Looks great ! How long did you leave the axe in that tub of liquid and what was the liquid ?
