Просмотров 9 тыс.4 года назад
In this video I restore this old Dunlop Standard footpump. The Process The resoration of this vintage footpump was definitely a labour of love. Due to it's age it required unexpected parts, such as leather washers and a lot of elbow grease! I started by disassemlbing the pump, and washing down the brass parts. I sanded down the main chamber and brass elements to remove the grime which had built...

It really is an awesome restoration. Restoration Process: It's a good idea to brush down each part of the saw once taken apart. I use a wire brush to get rid of the surface rust. Shocking and dangerous removal of old gripyou should use a hooked blade and stand at the butt end and draw the blade upwards
Just call me Mr Danger, Merv.
It was cool to watch you make something as simple as removing and old grip and tape look challenging…
Thank you.
What was the white goo used to clean cavity tks
Paint stripper
Only the face needs to to be raw. Not necessarily rusty. Resale value will improve if club is cleaned up.
Wish you would come back. Love these
❤️
Raw wedges are made for better players to grind them to their exact grind specifications without making them look like they have had the finish removed in those areas. Most golfers are not good enough with wedges to get any benefit from a custom grind wedge so just going with the S or D or K or F grind is going to be perfect for most. People see tour players hit a rusty wedge with a lot of spin on the ball so they think it’s because of the rusty wedge but it is just because they know how to add spin on a wedge shot.
Ending made this even better
Remove the chrome first. A looooong soak in viniger will do it. but use Hydrochloric toilet cleaner instead. If it bubbles, it's working.
no hook blade, grip tape looked like garbage have you done anything like this before?
Yes, did you not watch the video?
@@TreetopRestorations..just a tip , put the grip on after you clue the head on .... for better alignment.
@@TreetopRestorations if I didn't why would I ask?
Things youve probably changed in the 3 years since, but, back in my pro days wed have spent $10-15 for a hooked knife as it makes the grip a lot easier to get off. We would then put Varsal on the tape thats left over and then light it on fire, burn it, and then it just peels right off super easy and clean. We'd leave extra tape at the end of the club to fold it over and in to keep dirt, rain etc. out of the shaft. Nothing worse than something rattling around in your club, or for it get all rusted on the inside, because someone forgot to put some extra tape there. Other than that nice work on the restore.
I love how it looks without the paint fill.
A very nice video to watch. A lesser man would have cheated on the chip! I've subscribed.
Great work!
Hard to watch the grip removal.... how over cumbersome is this , so many faster methods .... 3 minutes max
You have eyelids don’t you?
Wonder if those grooves are USGA compliant now....
They are, don’t worry.
Rick Sheils did a test a while back proving that rust on a golf club actually made the spin it has on a ball worse. He has done the right thing by restoring the wedge to a higher performing state.
I’m subscribing just because you honestly missed lol
Amazing ender
You cut the grip off the hardest way possible😂😂
Wedges are supposed to be rusty
Not this one. Anymore at least.
pro shops usually have loft lie apparatus to make sure your club are refitted accurately.
I think my chip shows that it’s set up perfectly.
Always put the ferrule on first before you apply the epoxy ! Use a new glove for video purposes too !
What’s wrong with old trusty?
You should check out the hook blades they make. A lot easier to cut off old grips
Thats alot of work for a wedge that has started to corrosion pitt. No way to restore it back to factory new
It’s not work when you enjoy it my friend.
Next time when you want to fake rust on something, you may want to weather the enamel logo. Fake shit!
Are you ok?
Dude what the hell is your deal, this isnt fake
I'm doing 3 Cleveland wedges right now
I have done this with two wedges, a RAM and a Callaway. Got them for nothing, and use them now when I play, and they work just as well as anything new.
They are supposed to rust like that. Wedges with no coating are meant to rust. And you did not restore the club you destroyed it.
RIP
nice restoration but if I'd seen this at a store, I wouldn't buy it
I’m sorry this item is not for sale.
Nice “finish”
“Thank you”
The grip removal had me cringing!! Get a hook blade for that knife man, and pull it toward you. It didn't have to be that hard. Also, 30 seconds with a heat gun will allow you to strip off the old tape with no problem. Fortunately this is a steel shaft; do that trick with the knife with graphite and you will destory it.
This is textbook technique, all the pros do it like this.
i can see that you do not really know what you are doing.
My chip technique definitely needs work.
Butchered that tape and grip but nice work on the head!
How dare/thank you!
Why would you ruin the value of club by removing the patina???!!!
A very helpful video even 3 years later LOL !!!!! #TREETOPRESTORATIONS
😂🙌🏼
You made hard work of the grip removal. I just slide the stanley blade along after the first cut. And did you clean out the hosel? Also I spine align shafts before refitting.
I totally, definitely, absolutely did everything 100% to required specifications.
Better off buying a new one
Accurate.
Clearly not a golfer. That’s supposed to be rusty.
Did you not see my chip? 😅
I would play it as it is
And that’s ok.
Dude, wtf was that moving the grip😂 Also, put the grip on last not first!
Don’t tell me what to do.
Cool to see the head come out looking like new. Hook blades are a thing. It’ll make removing the grip easier. Also, I’ve never put a grip on before epoxying the head. This is backwards to me.
If it’s backwards I think you just need to turn around.
Will the steel wool damage the face if I used this on a putter and surface won’t be as flat as it will have the scratches from the steel wool on my carbon steel Scotty Cameron?
You can use fine steel wool, most household versions might scratch the golf club. A light buff with fine steel wool should remove any rust and retain the club face.
a carpet razor blade with a hook, would work alot better for grip removal.
I like a challenge.
Sooo, why didn't you just cut the grip in one slice rather then pick at it from the bottom...club turned out nice but that was annoying to me. I replace grips all the time and I would do it if I had to do that,,,,
I did this specifically to annoy you.
@@TreetopRestorations I figured
Should have just left it!
Thought i’d right it!
Very disappointed...no where near showroom finish. Club face is 100% nicked. Misleading title big time. But, nice job on everything else.
Disappointed? Dad?
@@TreetopRestorations You're called it "amazing showroom finish", and it's not. So yeah, a disappointing watch. Would be ok to call it a beautiful finish, as it is. You're attention to detail is outstanding, my son. 😁
Awful way of taking a grip off.
🫡
Some of us would have used that rust dude
I can send you some of it in a little baggie?
You destroyed that vokey rusty wedge
Rip
Mate, that finish is nowhere near factory, refurbished or acceptable. ..why didnt you give it a slight sanding/sand blasting to remove the pits? Poor metal finishing 🤦🏻
I find it totally acceptable to be unacceptable.
