I really loved this video! I have started down the path of golf club restoration and videos like this are about the only real training you can find. I really appreciate the channel! I hope you consider coming back to add new videos. Thank you for sharing your expertise! Great shot! The crowd was really into it!😂
Very wild! They were never crazy shiny like that in the show room. I always bought them for the non glare finish and forgiveness. You do some beautiful metal work!
Hi Everyone, Back with another club restoration, this time working with a Ping Beryllium Copper ( *BeCu* ) Club. Great little club, and amazing how much of a mirror finish you can get on these!Hope you enjoy the video, and the hook blade (so much easier!). Feel free to leave your thoughts on the restoration in the comments below.Cheers
I have this exact set and have been wanting to make it shine like new so thank you. Could you list the products (in order) you used? It was hard to read the labels as you grabbed most of them. Thanks!
Nice job! I have a set to clean. I found way more grip solvent helps the grip slide on easy and straight. I used to spray too… now I pour it on and get it on fast
Would have liked to see the grooves sharpened and ping grips put on, but I still respect the effort put in! I have the same irons. Had them since 97 and I tried polishing them. It's waaayy more time consuming than you'd think and mine didn't look nearly as good as that!😔
I just polished the sole of the club and around the hosel, the contrast is great, and it's way easier to do as I just used Brasso and a cloth, rather than use a polishing wheel, worked great 👍
Just dip them in cola for a few hours, if you must. PLEASE do your own research before. I have been playing only copper clubs (Ping, Mizuno and other Japanese boutique brands) since 1992 AND I WOULD NEVER EVEN CONSIDER POLISHING THESE BABIES!!!!
I have a video request. If possible could you restore clubs that have been damaged from clanking around in the bag and denting or scaling the irons. I would like to see how you would get those out.
I wonder if these clubs had that shine to them when they were new on the rack in the store? or did they have more of a matte finish? Anyone out there know?
Would have liked to seen the club face and grooves cleaned up, that’s what brought me here. I’m looking to restore mine. I used to just soak mine in Coca Cola over night and it shines them as good as new. But now the club faces need work.
Looks great, I did cringe when you used the buffer on the face though. I know it’s a soft buffing wheel but that had to have some effect on any sharpness left on those grooves.
I agree completely. Showing me without providing the product name, abrasive type or rag brand does not help me to do my clubs making this video somewhat useless. That is the hardest part of the job. Stripping a grip, grinding anyone can do with no explanation required. But to just to proceed with getting the white and black paint right on without explaining is a waste of time. Totally.
Hey I love watching your videos…whoever you are. I have tried to find a website or a way to contact you but haven’t had any luck. Are you still open for business?
I have a set of Lewis Machine & Tool Defense Iron Sights that need your TLC. High end/military spec bolt on iron sights (picatinny mount). Can you possibly restore them for me? It’d be minor resurfacing to get them to shine, maybe a little accent paint to get them to pop then however you’d preserve. Google “L8BUIS556” that’s them…
Nice video but Ping clubs weren’t shiny when new, much duller much like the finish on a handgun. The putters started off a more golden polished colour though
HI. AWEsome video I just subscribed! if interested I have vintage womens or mens Ben Hogan Iron set on Ebay Delande85. My question was how much do Medallion good cond go for??? Thanks
@@Ornby1 I like the best of both worlds, I just polish the sole of the club head and around the hosel, in contrast with the remaining patina, my personal preference, but I'd certainly never criticise anyone else wanting to polish the club head completely, it looks great also 👍
Great restoration mate 👍 I have to say though if there was an award for the ugliest golf club in the world that would certainly win......thats why I've never liked pings im more of a forged mizuno man myself but anyhow still a lovely job done giving a new lease of life 👍
Please be very careful working with BeCu. It is extremely hazardous if inhaled. Respirator should be worn if polishing on a wheel. Personally I prefer the oxidized look, it was as intended by Ping and this club will quickly revert. In the meantime its playability is compromised due to glare at address. I appreciate what you are trying to do but wrong club / material.
@@apollo8972 Not at all. These clubs were never shiny even when new. BeCu oxides very quickly and is intended to be played in their dull state. Not only is it very dangerous to polish this material without proper safety precautions, it also restricts playability as others here have confirmed and sadly reduces the value of the clubs.
@@graemetaylor4149 How can it affect playability unless you are actually damaging the grooves?. I have lots of beCu putters and 2 sets of Ping eye 2s so don’t lecture me on what is the correct way to handle them. They don’t actually oxide that quickly either it actually takes some time. What this guy is doing will have no impact on its value, playability or his health. They didn’t come from the pro shop dark brown either that patina takes years.
appreciate the no music choice. so relaxing. watching before bed its like ASMR

why would somebody give this a thumbs down?????? smh.. this is amazing!!! great job!!
Beryllium is a toxic material this may be unsafe.
@@danc2014 never knew that
I really dig your style of making these videos! Keep it up!

Treetop Restorations Beautiful restoration. Soap, water, scrub brush, rinse. Soak overnight in Coca Cola.
What products did you use other than salty vinegar. Any polish will work but what was the first one?
Could anyone tell me what he brushed the head with after painting?
What were the two solvents that you used to strip the club?
I have this exact set and have been wanting to make it shine like new so thank you. Could you list the products (in order) you used? It was hard to read the labels as you grabbed most of them.

There's something strangely relaxing and satisfying about watching this type of video.
Making it was pretty chill too
Awesome work and ending! Just shared your wedge video with a friend who just got some older clubs to start with.
One of my favorite looking clubs and one that in my opinion changed golf from that point forward.
Man you did an amazing job!
Beautiful club, beautiful shot!

Came to comments looking for this. Loved the restoration. I was just thinking at the end, "the grooves! Nooooo..." lol
are they worth much?
@@ryanspeed8919 not really. But they might be in the future. They stopped making them because the material they're made out of is cancerous.

The grinding/polishing dust from that is really good for you.
Im gonna bet that is why he didn't sharpen the gooves because that would be the most dangerous with shards of beryllium going everywhere
I have a full set of these irons I wish they looked this good.
Yeah these clubs are a work of art!! Peace brother
Subbed for the golf club restorations! Keepem coming mate!
Amazing ender
I never thought of using a heat gun on old grip, nice! 👍 😎
That looks phenomenal! :D
Why would you ruin the value of club by removing the patina???!!!
I have a set of these un-refurbished set of these 3-SW black dots
A bit of advice, keep them that way.
I have Ping Eye 2 +no+ becu 2-SW set (Red Dot). Will keep them as is with stock tour wrap grips and no shine.
I have a video request. If possible could you restore clubs that have been damaged from clanking around in the bag and denting or scaling the irons. I would like to see how you would get those out.

Pretty sure they weren’t this good looking on the shelf 😎
I got a full set of those same exact irons copper to

Stick a tee in the end of the grip when installing. Makes it much easier.
mineral spirits is much cheaper, as well.

Just sharpen them with a tool
Shines like a brand new penny.
First like and cmt...loving your work mate keep it up pal
Thank you buddy
This is amazing 🎨🤩
Needs ping or grips and grooves sharpened. I still play mine. Greatest clubs ever made.
You are correct. That was actually footage.
Did you use some sort of clear sealant after painting?
I did not. :)
Nice. But, I'd prefer a finish that is not so shiny, i.e. an old penny not a brand new penny.
A penny for your thoughts.
Do you offer this as a service, or was this just a fun one off?
Just for the tubes, Brian. But happy to answer any questions if I can.
How much for me to send you my beryllium’s 3-SW
What type of salt is being used?
Just standard rock salt.
I still play those exact irons. Ping ISI black dots.
ive got green dots but are they worth much?
Nah.
Me 2 I have green dots
That is actually way way shinier than when they were first on the shelf
Sweet.
Why not just use Coke a Cola in a bucket ? Either one will ensure that the sunlight Reflects Directly into your Eyes while your trying to hit the ball
I would have taken them as is! Regardless great video.
How much do you charge for a set of golf irons?
Great job on this restoration. Isnt Ping Zing Copper Beryllium clubs supposed to be toxic? From my understanding the Beryllium was toxic as hell?
pretty sure polishing BeCu is what makes em toxic. Hope guy had plenty of ventilation and his respirator on tight!
I wonder how much spin you lose by polishing the grooves
I mean, I struggle to get spin either way 👀
Could anyone tell me what he brushed the head with after painting in the numbers and letters?
White spirit to get rid of the paint smudges!

Paint stripper
Lol, great hole.
Are you going to explain what the cream / paste is ?
Metal polish
wow~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!
Don't forget to remove the double sided tape before you spray the activator
I wish Ping would re-issue those clubs.

You want to show a video of cleaning it but yet don't show the chemicals
How much do you charge to polish a full set of ping copperhead orange irons?
Sadly I don’t do commission work!
They oxidize quickly anyway,so giving them a mirror finish is pointless.
Much like this comment, Carl. Just enjoy the shiny club 🙄.
Beryllium Copper clubs are not meant to be polished like this. The patina forms over time and adds to the overall clubhead feel
Also you don’t want to be doing anything to beryllium since it’s super toxic

It would have been great if you told us what you were doing 😢
Hey friend what's disc polish please ?
Salty Vinegar.... my ex girlfriend’s stage name at the strip club.
She sounds tangy
This Beryllium club is toxic if cleaned incorrectly. The gloves are not enough especially when you were polishing them
Untrue
Thumbs down because this is not a restoration. This is a polish job. These irons never looked like this originally.
These irons never looked this GOOD originally.
just clean it with a pressure wash
🤨

Absolutely right - this is a fairly pointless exercise really as after 1 round they will be darkened again. Look better dark brown anyway.
Give the guy a break we all know that he is just returning them to how they would of looked out of the wrapper.

Utterly pointless. Leave them in a room for 5 mins and they’ll be back to normal - which what they’re supposed to be!!!
