Cheers mate, I love this van to much, I’ve been to some amazing places and meet some beautiful people, the van is fighting me all the way, but there will only be one winner and as long the van understands that 🤣🤣🤣
Hi mate bin my latest video I have actually added a leaf spring. It’s so easy. It improved the factory suspension so much. I had bags and took them out as I felt it covered up the issue as opposed to addressing it. Good luck 👍🏻
Mate your having a bad run at the mo, hope its get better mate, i really do. chin up, proper vanlife proplems thant we know your going to sort, looking forward to part 2 and the raptor painting.
your Sprinter is not the first one I have seen with a split chassis due to airbags , even a pretty new van done the same . Hassle for you getting all the interior out , I have said to some others who insist on totally covering the inside of the van with expanding foam as insulation , if they have an accident no one is going to want to repair the damage with all panels covered in hard foam , best in my view to use removable insulation .
Air bags will do that all the time on leaf springs the chassis’s were made to carry the weight on the springs hangers not the middle those vans are made in Taiwan I think or china no mater the thing is air bags are shit unless the vehicle was made for it put bigger springs in cheaper in the long term as you know now I would not put them back in welding in the middle of the spring is not allowed in this country 😮hope it all goes good for you air bags that’s what they are full of air
I got my hands full at the moment and what with my daughters mental health, still waiting for the log cabin to arrive and having to build that so she can have a safe space, I don’t even have time to fart 🤣🤣
This is the reason I dislike airbags on top of leaf springs, you are forcing against the chassis if you try to jack them up. A properly designed air system would use trailing arms with a panhard rod and regardless of height the force on the chassis would not increase. If you want increased height how about longer shackles, that way you could pump up the airbags but they would not be trying to bend the springs as much and the pressure in the centre of the chassis would be decreased. The other option is a block between the spring and longer U bolts, would have the same effect. Increased height with a lower airbag pressure
Totally agree, before I brought the van I was thinking about shackles and blocks, but then found this van, I’m just waiting for a company to come back to me with longer high tensile u bolts and 2 inch blocks.
great content sean and you are doing a great job, I have a long wheel base transit that i have converted to a camper but have found a three inch by one inch rust hole on the inner cill, do you think that would fail on an mot and could i just rivet a plate over it instead of welding it
If the hole is within 30cms of a prescribed area then yes it will have to be continuously welded, a prescribed area is any area within suspension mounts seat belt mounts sun frame mounts, chassis brake brackets and it’s associated components , fuel tank mounts and door steps, my advise would get it welded then all boxes are ticked and no problems at the next mot, rust is a major killer on transits so best sort it before it get worse and more expensive, best wishes Sean 👍
@@ProjectCamper great advice sean it is near the drivers step but over 90cm away but will just get it welded as you say it will then tick all the boxes, many many thanks ,john
Looks like your doing a proper job mate, well done, a lot of people would of thrown the towel

@@ProjectCamper I hear you mate, same with my Crafter, I'm winning.

I thinking the same 👍👍👍
Great video....something different to the usual van build stuff👍
Thank you 👍👍👍
Gutted for you mate. I must say though what a great job you are doing. I'm sure all the effort will pay off for you. Cheers 👍😊
Cheers mate, hope you had a great weekend , wish I could of been there. 👍👍
@@ProjectCamper thanks buddy. We had a cracking weekend 😊👍
Interesting video Sean and great repair work, I hope the next one goes well for you 👍. Should be stronger than factory when you are done 😁.
Thank you, I hope it is stronger, I don’t think I’m going to remount the air bags because if it happens again then it’s a total strip out on the van 😩

Reminds of welding up mk3 escorts when Ford stuffed foam in the lower sills 👍
we sure do live and learn 😎
When you put something like a an airbag on you need to displace the pressure long the frame location

Sort your watch strap out 😂🤣
Great talking to you today mate 😘
You noticed 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great work! When can you come work on my Sprinter? Like the channel, thanks for the work you put into your content to make it interesting.

I should start looking with closed eyes 🤣🤣
Such a shame you got this as a set back but I know you will get sid sorted mate, he destined to meet fee (my e50) 😂😂😂😂
I will sort Sid, just been on the phone sorting out 5mm plate 👍
Did you do anything to stop you blowing it up again?
