  • From www.swimmingpo... this video talks about whether it is worthwhile to have a swimming pool installed. Since a swimming pool is one of the most expensive luxuries that people ever buy it certainly warrants consideration whether you actually want a pool or not. Pools are a commitment to time and money, over and above the initial installation costs. They are great for health, exercise, relaxing and most of all...family time. There are a lot of different reasons why someone might enjoy owning a swimming pool however families with younger children tend to be the primary group of pool owners that use their pool every day and love it. A swimming pool is a great place to build generational memories and promote an interactive, phone and screen free environment for your family.

This was the number one thing my colleague said to me when I asked him about his pool and that helped push me over. My daughter is about to turn 9 and he said when she is a teenager there is great value in being the house she and her friends are at so you can keep an eye on things. That combined with bringing the family together and swimming laps is a clear win.

👍 Yup. Nothing better than watching the grandkids have a great time in the pool, then jumping in with them.

Once my kids grew up, high school age, they never want to use the pool anymore. It does create some memories but those are fleeting now that I have this huge pool and it might get used a few times a year, mainly by me and my wife. it's sad to say but if I had to do all over again, I would have bought a house without a pool. Now, it's just a pain in the ass that adds more work for nothing in return, just like my yard.

We’ve had a pool since I was young and now was have our own pool so it’s easy for me to say YES! BUT, it ultimately depends on the person. It’s not for everyone. They can be challenging and you have to put work into it a little every day.
It’s great being the place everyone hangs out. But if you don’t want to put the work in don’t get one. They aren’t a set it and forget it thing.

Don't want to put in the work and not willing to hire a pro to care for the pool. They can not do the work if they don't want to, but they have to be comfortable with hiring a suitable professional to do it for them...as you say, someone has to take care of the pool. It is a commitment

I needed to hear this today. I have often regretted the decision to build a pool but all the headache, cost, maintenance is worth it based on exactly what you recapped in your video. Thanks!

I am considering one but with 100k only getting you a very basic pool where I live (Southern California) and with interest rates now, it's just not feasible unless your'e very will off. The middle class is priced out now unfortunately.

You had the childhood I wish I had had. In your OWN swimming pool all day long.

Me also! All I had was a fire hydrant. At least my children grew up with a pool in their backyard.

Do you have a video on vacuuming pools? I'm sure you do. I have a 16' x 32' vinyl inground. My last favorite job. Just tryna see if there's an easier way (probably not 🙄😕😩). Thanks!

Get a robotic pool vacuum and it will do 90% or more of the vacuuming for you. Definitely worth it!

@Swimmingpoolsteve OK. My problem is that there's a fine algae "sludge" sitting in the bottom of the pool that I have to remove before I start dumping chemicals in. I got a new filter and cover last year. The cover really helped keep the neighboring leaves out. A few years ago, I learned the hard way that putting chemicals in before being the leaves out was futile. It was only after I removed them that I was able to get the water crystal clear.

Is getting one put in ? No [current prices are ridiculous regardless of what you make $$$] . Is buying a home with an existing pool in good condition ? Yes.

YES!!! That is exactly why I bought the house I am in with a pool!! That feeling can not be replaced!
