    Boy, that tractor really moves, LOL! I can definitely see the advantage of the harrow for basic maintenance, as long as you aren't trying to get rid of major bumps and pot holes.

    Decent points you've mentioned here Brock. Seeing driveway videos like this and others make me wish (prior to my parents getting theirs paved) we'd have adopted our late neighbor's Ford 8N. Would've done well with a drag harrow, land plane or box blade and saved us a nice chunk of change over time compared to all of the stone my uncle brought over.

    💥 You’ve almost got me convinced I need one. If I spent more time up at Yukon acres I think I would need it.
    *Keep on tractoring!*

    Owning a gravel driveway can be quite the harrowing experience! 🚜

    I did it on a budget. I took 2 4x4s and wrapped a fence around them. Added fence wire on one side and left the other side flat. They definitely make a finished job look a ton better.

      That is a good DIY solution.

    A land plane is the best implement for gravel driveways. Outdoors with the Morgans has some great landplane driveway videos.

      Yeah, a landplane is on my list. I think I’ve watched every video Mike has ever put out

    Nice. I got a Jerry rigged up drag that I use to fix my driveway and the road in front of my house it gets wash board really bad. It an old metal gate off of a trailer and I have about 300lbs of ballistic windows on it.

      That would do the job. I’m always a fan of DIY solutions

    So basically the tine type are for breaking up the surface and leveling and the chain type are just for leveling… I’ve got 2 old horse drawn drag harrows. I was told they were around 100 years old. I was just trying to figure out exactly what I’m selling on marketplace…😂 Any idea what they should be worth? They’re both still functional…

    Have you checked out a land plane? From all the many grading videos I’ve watched, they seem to be the best for gravel drive maintenance.

      Probably right. They cut without carrying so much material. I want to try one but haven’t got the chance yet

    I thought for sure you'd start using the Harley Rake for the driveway. Would that be worth a try?

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  2 года назад +1

      I’m sure that the power rake is the best tool I have for smoothing a driveway And you will see me doing that in videos
      I just like trying different things. When I got the harrow I already had three videos planned for it

    How do you charge for garden tilling to get your travel time along with tilling time?

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  2 года назад

      The only way I have found to make a decent rate with it is to get a lot of gardens close to each other the same day to cut down on loading and travel time
      I have only done 3 gardens this year because did not advertise for tilling. Normally I charge a 2 hour minimum but for a garden that puts you way above the going rate around here

      Offer discounts to the person who contacted you if they can get neighbors to let you till them. Set a radius of travel and be upfront about your travel expenses if they're further than that. I set a 20 mile radius for the average garden and a minimum charge no matter what. You can also try to schedule around the furthest one away. Get a few on the way, then a few more on the way back. Join all the local town pages on social media. If you have a job lined up, post up that you'll be in the area looking for new clients.

      Good advice
      Last year I had one day where I did six in a day and that was a good profitable day. Just doing one feels like a waste of time.

      @@RockhillfarmYT I use them as a break right now. Just hangout with the family and take care of things around the house, so I'll take 1 maybe 2 in the mornings and goof off the rest of the day. I'm already in the bush hogging season/late gardens so I try to keep my schedule relaxed for these 2-3 weeks before I'm full swing with the bush hogging. This comment does have my wheels turning for a video or 2 about how I price my jobs and such, but I suck at being in front of the camera 😂
