    The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. If you wear headphones, your mind won't be blown, but it will go, "woah."
    I'm also the producer for the Winding Road RUclips Channel:
    / windingroadmagazine
    Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly test vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, you'll see! Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Why are you still reading this, you should be watching the video. With headphones! Hah, had to sneak that in there one more time. Later!

    The most underrated Japanese car platform.
    Major car publications need to get there hands on this car and review it again. This is prob the one car no one can say anything bad about. Its the most underrated build platform lightweight. Fun to drive. RWD. Inline 6 with endless tuning. Great handling Potential. Nice interior. Great build quality. It can be any kind of car you it to be. Drag track daily you name it. I love mine one year into onwer ship. 5 speed onwer also. The IS300 is one of the most underrated cars money can buy better then civic WRX and all that other crap. The problem with this car is that it can he had for so cheap so people destroy them. So the really good examples are getting expensive. I foresee these car going up in value as time goes on it's a gem of a car

    • @Doesyou

      As a car yes its underrated but as a platform no since it shares the platform with the JZX100 which is a very popular car amongst others like the GS.

It felt heavy at first like driving a luxury car, no noises from the vehicle , all was working in the tranny, had a check engine light on dude said it was from a small leak in the exhaust. Drove really smooth, took off well, braked well lots of pickup. Also passed emissions for NY state. Just really dirty on the inside wheels need to be refinished but he had the fifth in the trunk. 6:01 it actually is the same dif
    People will get the frs gt86 or brz difs and swap it in the is300
    The only thing you really need to do is change the output hubs to the one the is300 uses

    I want an auto is300 as a daily. I have 2000 Mustang GT 5speed manual. It’s straight piped and has a stage 2 cable driven clutch. It’s also my only car so even though I want to beat the absolute crap out of it I realize if I break it then I’m shit out of luck. Is300 is pretty much the opposite. I would also be very comfortable owning it knowing it’s basically a Toyota so I know there wouldn’t be a reliability issue.

I feel the biggest open secret to 2JZ is the S161 chassis Lexus GS300/400/430 98-05 if one doesn’t car for MT it is essentially the W124 of Japanese cars in my opinion.

    For everyone driving this car in a 5MT, do you hear whine throughout all the gears? especially in lower RPMS before the sound of the exhaust drowns it out. Its super annoying and i heard some whine is normal but if i dont have music playing its literally obnoxious and embarassing. feels like driving a toy car or if i was in a honda and put it in reverse, but for every gear. LMK if you can relate!

    • @drivedb7
      @drivedb7 4 года назад

      Geoffrey - Personally I love the gear whine. It’s like driving an old stock car. Most older M/T, RWD Toyotas make the same sounds. To me it’s just part of the experience. If other people find it bothersome, well, Lexus made an auto version too which makes none of those noises and are MUCH easier to find in nice shape.

    How did you get your dash to look so good?
    Did you do away with the factory clutch dampener and install an aftermarket clutch dampener?
    Did you go with the a new lightweight flywheel or did you get the factory OEM flywheel?
    Does your air conditioning ever make a rattling sound?
    I have one too and I love her.

      @MPowerSubie12 4 года назад +1

    • @drivedb7
      @drivedb7 4 года назад +1

      Lukasz P - Well, if you’re going to mod one, I suppose the auto would be the better choice. Many people end up swapping the stock W55 M/T with something else if they’re going for any substantial power increase.
      Would still love to see what you’ve got going on. I always enjoyed your videos and your knack of finding ultra clean cars of the ‘90s and ‘00s. I must say you have excellent taste in automobiles!

    • @MPowerSubie12
      @MPowerSubie12 4 года назад +1

      Drive DB7 I appreciate the love! That’s exactly what I loved to do. And it took a lot of searching to find them and then bring them back to even better condition. And you’re right my friend swapped his drifter IS with a 350Z trans. I’m not into all that as you can tell lol. I did find the better W55 donor car for a swap but also didn’t want to go through all that trouble. My plan was to do an Altezza body kit install as I think that looks amazing on the IS but with their short bumpers it won’t work unless I swap out the crash bars and the entire bumpers. The manual IS that I found was a mint black sport design with only 100k one owner in San Francisco for $4,300. The car was worth $10,000 all day. It was probably the nicest manual IS I’ve come across and the cheapest. I also currently have the most pristine Aspen White 2006 Subaru STi with about $3k in bolt on parts. Haven’t had the time to go back to my channel anymore with work.

    • @drivedb7
      @drivedb7 4 года назад +1

      Lukasz P - Yeah, I’ve never been into drifting, either. I respect the skill and the effort it takes to get good at it, but the sport just doesn’t interest me. At all lol
      And yes, an auto-to-manual trans swap is a HUGE undertaking. Unless someone is swapping a SportCross (which I’m sure you’re aware were automatic only), I don’t think it’s really worth it. Plus it sort of takes away from the “purity” of finding a factory manual. There were only so many of them made and by now most of them have been run into the ground.
      Out of curiosity, what happened to that black IS300 manual in San Fran? How long ago was that? There can’t be many 1-owner ISs left, let alone with low-ish mileage.
