I'm NOT a V8 hater or anything, but this is also where a stroker kit among other modifcations come in handy to bring lag down due to a large turbo. Also, you need to realise that a lot of Fords/Holdens weigh a lot over an Evo, a WRX, R32 etc etc. A 4WD putting around 300kw will always beat a 300kw V8 around a track because they can corners at a much higher speed and won't have to worry about loss of traction as much powering out of a corner as a RWD V8 would.
Nm, is newton meter. its another unit for torque, just like pound foot or foot pound (which ever way you like). Another popular unit is kg ft or kg meter. Torque=(distance from center or crankshaft) X (force on that point). From this you can make a general rule that torque of an engine depends on the stroke of the engine. A lower rod/stroke ratio gives higher torque but lower rpm capability, keeping bore constant(increasing bore gives higher torque). This is why long block v8s have more torque.
@CHRISGT34 yep but instead of plumbing the air back through the exhaust, they just use a pipe to vent it straight to the atmosphere hence the name "screamer pipe" lol thats what we call them here in australia. they sound awsome but get annoying when u keep hearing it on a daily basis everytime u hit boost.
@fleming334 it's not a stupid question.. running rich is good. You won't blow your engine up.. Lean makes more power. But if you go to lean you get detonation meaning you could possibly blow your engine up. So the point is get it close to lean as possible, safely. if that makes sense
My Honda Supra I own has a v8 straight six quad square rotor identical twin turbo, one's a diesel turbo for the single stack in the middle of the wing for more upforce. .It has a AEM floorboards with a safety danger to manifold prevention switch, the NoS is chilled with dry ice to make it cool my Rockford Fosgate 100watt (RMS mind you) amp powering four MTX square 24" jackhammer subs, 32" Baer Brakes up front with 19" Foose rims on Formula 1 tires. Body is full kevlar, Paul Sr from OOC made it

@john13200242 No! Not if they are tuned correctly! There shouldn't be any smoke coming out of that exhaust pipe except condensation. But like I said, blue it oil, black is fuel. And if either one is shooting out like that it can cause problems. It can mess up anything from a couple minor sensors, or something important like piston rings. Tuning is very important, especially with forced induction.
no, theres a more technical explanation of why this is the case, because the car is more or less incapable of burning out in any significant way either the cars speed has to match the engine rpm adjusted for gearing or the RPMs have to drop (this is assuming fully disengaged clutch as you see in this video. some 'feathering' of the clutch would allow for the RPM range to stay more stable and in a better area of the powerband while the car gains the first 10-15mph
@GTRPSI I will agree with you there. But no smoke period, is better. Usually if you are running too lean you will burn oil, therefore causing blue smoke.
He was launching it so that he could get the maximum wheel speed right off the line. If he took off like normal and then stepped on it, it would be way slower. The revving was a little longer than it needed to be but he still took off really fast as a result.
I just hope you know that it would actually be possible so long as you have the correct supporting mods on the engine, your tune is good, the condition of the motor is good etc. There's been a few 2J's that have run 400kw to the rear wheels on a stock bottom end with the correct mods to support it. Of course the block has been opened and they've had their bearings, rings and headgasket replaced. But it's STILL using the factory rods and pistons. Different motor, yes, but it is still possible

Stronger does not equal better, and even the RB has it's limits. Gibson motorsport in Australia broke over 80 GTR engine blocks in running 30+psi of boost in road racing. One of the reasons why Nissan engine parts have become so cheap is because people are always rebuilding them. You just could not get the RB to do what the VQ does in the R35 with the same durability and emissions levels at the same time. RB is great for dyno days, but they are always being rebuilt for race cars.
@TheGoodDevil7 there are only so many RWD cars available in the north american market, good handling, older models had L6's which could make big power with some work.
also, one more thing, when these cars were made, in japan they had a max 280hp limit on cars and 180km/hr speed limiter requirement from the authorities...thats why japanese sports cars would focus more on cornering capabilities...

Some 4 cylinders like the F20c by honda used in the S2000 can reach 500hp only by the help of turbos, they are 240hp stock and redline of 9000rpm
