    Great ... I've been looking for someone to post the actual operation of the EAF with ASIAIR... It's nice that those that have them show them, but never actually show the operation of it... Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate the operation. Very helpful... Lewes, DE...NJ3A

    Thanks for this! My EAF should be here in a couple days and was curious how this operates through the ASIAIR. Looks pretty simple! Clear skies!

    Good video. Do you adjust your camera "binning" value to find the best focus for that particular night? I do not have an auto focus, but do use the ASIAIR Pro (and love it) I adjust focus manually and watch for the lowest value. Thanks

    thank you for this video... so when we setup auto focuser to run every hour or every degree of temperature change, does it run this routine every time? I have ordered one and really trying to understand the process of fully automating the process on every filter change/ every hour... Thanks in advance!!

      10 for fine and 30 for coarse. Backlash is 0. These settings only work in manual mode with HC or using controls in the app. Autofocus is just that automatic settings.

    Hi David!
    Great video!! I heard you say in the video that you have the EAF connected to the Radian Raptor. I have the same scope but I have understood that the ZWO EAF doesn’t connect to this scope, can I ask how you connected it or is this a different brand EAF?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @allskydave

      Just a stock EAF. It was the easiest of all the ones I have installed. Took maybe 25 min and most of that was finding 2 screws to use.

    Can you tell me step by step how you set ASI up on your laptop? It's too cold outside for me and I wanted to connect it up and run it indoors from my desktop but I don't know how to do it. Would really appreciate it.

    • @allskydave
      @allskydave  2 года назад +1

      On a PC you need to download an Android emulator called BlueStacks. Once installed and booted up go to the Play Store and download that Asiair app and then just do what you do using your phone or tablet. You must switch your wifi to whatever you use for running AIR. To be inside you will probably need to use extenders. If you search my channel here you will find a short video on how I connect my Pro to my laptop in my man cave using extenders that are daisy chained. Good luck.

      @@allskydave BlueStacks, got it. I took a look at the video. In regards to connecting I have a question. Is there any reason you didn't use the Ethernet port on the Pro to connect to your device indoors? I've not tried this but according to ZWOs website you can hook it up to your router indoors and then access the internet and the air at the same time. I was looking into running an Ethernet up the garden into the house and connecting it up with to the router or a switch, as we have multiple hardwired connections in the house so might be able to connect it to the switch and then that would connect to my desktop.

      @@allskydave I just received the ASI AIR Plus and EAF. I have a samsung phone and Samsung has a free software called Dex. This allows me to connect my phone to to my pc (large screen) and then use the ASIAIR App. Works pretty well while using mobile data for any updates to the device. I haven't setup fully the EAF. Saw your videos and it is most appreciated. As the whole electronic focus is new to me, I have a newbie question: Do you need to run this autofocus routine everytime you wish to image? Thank you for taking the time to make your videos.

      For my 30mm minis I use 8000, 2500 and 2500.

      @@allskydave I am asking about the step size used for the EAF autofocus routine. It is a single entry (not the Backlash setting) that the EAF uses when it searches for focus and creates the "V" curve. Using my AT115 scope and ASI294MC Pro camera, 90 worked great with the scope's draw tube operating at about 39mm. But when I put in the correct spacers for my Backfocus (55mm), the scope focuses at about 6 to 9mm and the EAF failed to focus using 100, 120 150 steps and kept asking for higher steps, but lower at 90 worked much better, especially when I started at the focus point determined using a Bahtinov mask.

      Thanks for the comment. I probably didn't go into enough details like setting it up for filters and such, but that was way beyond the intended scope of the video. It was meant as an introduction and that was it. I left it up to someone who uses filter wheels and mono to do their own and show it. I'm a OSC guy. Thanks again.
