I am under the impression that there is absolutely NO line in port in the ZOOM H6 Essential unit. Which makes the possession of H4 essential even more appealing , especially if you are using a wireless mic trying to utilize the 32bit float. Like you do in your example. Furthermore , If someone has a Hollyland LARK M2 unit , he/she can have 32bit float in TWO (2!!!) seperate wireless mics/channels , connected through the LINE IN port of the H4 unit. Thank you for your truly enlightening video.
Not just zoom but 32-bit float devices is changing the game. I have the Rode Wireless Pro dual mic set up for recording disc golf content and it’s a breeze now. Just plug it up and hit record and mess with levels in post which I prefer doing. I just ordered the H6 E for capturing concert audio mainly connecting it to the mixer. I think it’s gonna change the game when it comes to that kind of stuff. I can’t wait to try it out next week. I’ve had many failed attempts at this with my H4n pro and H5. So this will be a big upgrade for sure. I’ve officially went full 32-but float for all my main audio. Never looking back
Thanks for this review man. I just ordered mine and it's on the way. I just came across a comment stating that the new H6 essential doesn't have a metronome and tuner unlike the OG H6. Is this true? l'm a musician so to see these 2 things gone, especially the metronome is pretty disappointing, but I'm hoping this is not the case?
Thank you for this video! I only own an old Tascam Dr40, I was thinking to upgrade with this one to use it with my Rode NGT4+, do you think it's worth it? I need to use it for documentary filmmaking
Great video, you deserve more views. The H6essential is not a lot more expensive, which one do you consider for run and gun filmmaking, interviews, etc.? I saw a video by another RUclipsr and he didn’t like the new series, what’s your opinion (pre amps, build quality, etc.) on that? I am little confused, because I like zoom products but he seemed so negative about it that it’s a lazy product range and you should wait for the future “Pro” series or something else. But the price is pretty good.
It seems like there is basically no preamps in a traditional sense. It's more like the unit is capturing what could be descibed as RAW audio and no processing is done. It would be nice to have a little compression in the recorder but the files are east to work with in post. I was contemplating putting it side by side to an older unit and making some presets to match what people are used to hearing the can be applied to the H4 and H6 essential
I would have got the H6 essential if I could afford it at the time. I'm guessing longer battery life and more inputs.I have a couple more weeks to send the H4 essential back. I do like how small the H4 essential is and most of the time I don't need more that 4 inputs for what I do.

I gave this a thumbs up, purely for the comedy bit about Big foot 😂
Thanks for that inspirational video. I just bought a H4essential yesterday and I appreciate everything you said.

Yes, or the H6 essential would give you more flexibility if you can afford it.
Can this be turned up to record louder during a live stream?

Does it work with a USB-C powerbank instead of batteries? And how good are the internal mics for recording loud music?
Yes you can run it on USBC power. I haven't tried recoding out music.
