    Speaking as an early adopter of electric vehicle technology (I purchased a Tesla S100D in 2018 and drove it for 3 years) I must point out that while the vehicles themselves are typically rock solid, my Tesla was one of the best built and engineered vehicles, ICE or electric, I've ever owned and I've owned more than I can count, that's not where the problem lies. Raiti mentions the 800V charging architecture and while that's great where the heck are you going to find one? The biggest challenges lie in the infrastructure that supports the electric vehicles; what do I mean by that? Too few charging stations, chargers that are typically out of service (usually at least 50% of the available chargers), idiots that park their ICE vehicles in the charging spots then go shopping or dining, overly long charging times and most important range. In my opinion until the range, charging time and charger availability issues are mitigated I don't see the public adopting EV in any large numbers. Great video as usual thanks for your hard work!

      Well said, currently only about 2% of us none tesla/nacs dc fast chargers even support 350kws and 800+v capability.
      And we won't mention their reliability rate either right. 😀
      But come 2025 tesla and nacs port being installed as standard along with the new v4 1000v scers will ease that charging anxiety by a lot. 👍🏻😎

    • @AutomotiveWoman
      @AutomotiveWoman Год назад +3

      Your Tesla experience is solid, and you're right - it's not the vehicles themselves causing the headache. But seriously, finding those fancy 800V charging spots can feel like a treasure hunt. And let's not even start on the parking spot hogs! Honestly, until charging gets easier, faster, and more available, this EV craze might just keep inching along. Your insight is pretty on-point - thanks for the reality check!

    One of my favorite features of our 23 ESV is the sunroof and it’s large opening. Other than a wrangler or similar vehicle that can remove parts of its roof, I’ve never seen a vehicle with a larger sunroof opening than the Escalade + it’s still panoramic to the second row when closed.
    Are they really going to eliminate sunroofs going forward?

      The Celestiq seems like it's more of an expression of the cost no object. It's not meant for high production and low cost.
      The Escalade is just the high end 3 row SUV, while Chevy, GM have lower priced versions. I don't know if Buick is going to ever produce the large 3 row SUV since they already have Chevy, GM and Cadillac which already sell quite well. I honestly don't know why Buick is still hanging around, they aren't really doing much other than they seem more on life support.

      @@AutomotiveWoman What I would do if I were the head of GM, I would take out Buick and GMC and spread their engineers and marketing people over to either Chevy or Cadillac and just focus on those two brands.
      Chevy offers a wider range of commercial trucks and vans than GMC. Chevy offers the same SUVs and there's nothing THAT special about the GMC brand. People know Chevy Trucks and SUVs, and cars.
      I think Chevy could focus on a more affordable luxury trim level for all of their vehicles along with the other affordable trims, rather than putting them under the Buick or GMC labels.

I've been a reluctant consumer when these various EVs or BEVs have been offered over the past few years, however, a few friends have made purchases of EVs this year and they are, quite honestly, amazing. My first house was 129,500, but it last sold for 500K. I'd rather live in this IQ. The Escalade V (gasser) starts around 150k, yes? It gets about 11mpg? (Ouch! But, it totally slaps on the pavement - the fastest ride available from Cadillac!) The IQ starts at 130k next year with 750 horses. Nice. Since I switched from a gas Escalade to an EUV, I haven't had to spend a dime on oil changes, a minute at a gas station or even at a charging station. I plug-in when I'm home or at work and the "tank" is always full. My utility bill hasn't noticeably changed. I feel confident that I can find a place to plug-in for longer trips, if ever needed. It's a relaxing and stunningly quiet ride. Escalades aren't known for being anyone's first car...that's what Vega, Chevette and Civic were for... ;) This is luxurious even by Cadillac standards. I'll happily retire to the driver's seat until my range expires.
