In the late 70s early 80s I stood on deck on the combine filling burlap bags with grain during harvest. Spring arrives and farmer told me, do not touch the red grain seeds without gloves. At my tender age I did what I was told. Fall arrives with beautiful wheat. Without "dressing" no real harvest to worry about.

As you say Harry a busy but enjoyable time. Let’s hope that it results in a very successful harvest next year! Certainly the sewing part is looking really good. Last year my wife and I took our Goldie for a walk around some fields after paying our annual visit to the Alresford show and we spent some time watching fields being sown I find it fascinating watching how the machinery works having just seen how much they cost at the show! Alas this years show was cancelled and both mu Goldie and I are not well enough to walk around those fields but maybe there will come a time when we can get out again. So good luck to your sowing and I’m looking forward to watching your harvest next year. Thanks for the videos it keeps me in touch when I’m unable to go and see the farms for myself.

I farm I shoot on not a million miles away from you Harry has sea shells appear sometimes in the plough. One of the local chaps (always good for a history lesson) says that the sea was as far inland as the farm a bazillion years ago hence the sea shells left behind as the sea receded. It's really weird to walk along a ploughed field and pick up a large shell in the middle of nowhere. And to think how long it's been lying there.

I find it fascinating that both you and Nick Welker From Welker Farms (YT) from were talking about keeping back your best grain for next years sowing within a week of each other when he is an arable farmer in North Montana, although the scale is different the message is exactly the same, soil condition is king. (Never worry if you are getting too technical, your audience wonts to know what is going on in the countryside around them.)
