At this point, American cinema audience had an intellectual deep pocket that could embrace a film like this. Not any more.

Tati's speech: short, to the point and charming. I expected no less! I miss people like Tati, Olivier, Joan Fontaine these days.

Because he was commenting on this world, the one that we live in, and on the universality of human nature and all its foibles, you must realize - you already inhabit his films!!

What a wonderful moment for a great comedian.
If you can, go out and purchase the excellent dvd boxed set of Tati's films that is available at the moment, (which includes "Mon Oncle" of course), it's worth every penny. 😊

An Oscar for France. I hope the next Oscar for France would be for a French language documentary. Maybe 3 Oscars for Best Documentary Feature, Best Picture, and Best Documentary Feature

If you haven't seen any Jacques Tati's films, have a look. His unique brand of humour was forged out of the silent film age of comedy heros and is exemplified in Mon Oncle. Get a box set and spend an evening wondering how he did it...and...you'll discover why the pipe was invented!

Good afternoon, I write from the program "History of our cinema" that is broadcast on Spanish Television.
We would like, if possible, to use as resources the fragment of these images in which J.A Bardem is nominated for an Oscar for "Revenge" The intention is to use it for a colloquium that we have recorded on "J.A Bardem Centenary".
    I am waiting for news.
Thank you very much for your attention.
    Greetings
