I bring the unit to the boil, switch it off and leave the solution overnight with a saucepan lid on top. It’s shining in the morning, no scrubbing required ✨
Thanks! The instructions that come with the unit need to be updated though. They say to only use one spoon of citric acid, and are missing some of the other details. Also, you should mention that the unit won't initially appear to turn on if the fan is not plugged in. This video was really helpful though!
Great; but what about the rust that has accumulated around the edge and on the top of the lid? I soak the base with vinegar between each use and have used the crystals via vinegar to scrub the top edge and lid and to no avail; the stain remains.
Nope. It will boil, but it takes some time. You can plug the top in for a second to see the fan spin, just to make sure the power is on, then unplug the top.
What are the “cleaning crystals"? Are they citric acid? I have had good luck with not letting the distiller go dry by setting a timer and stopping it with a little water left to reduce the frequency of cleaning.
Is it okay to wash the top cover part of the megahome unit with some running water? I had my machine in the basement for a while and I believe that dust has settled inside the parts where the fan is located. So I was just wondering if it was okay to run it under some cold water?
But what did you actually do because it diesnt go on without the top on. I've just bought mine and done this and it does not go on without the top on. BE MORE SPECIFIC and show your step by step!
After each use scrub the inside of the boiling chamber with steel wool. Get e plastic vinegar bottle and squeeze the vinegar on the side walls of the boiling chamber, and the bottom of it. Put the top condenser back on it, and allow the vinegar to dissolve the scale buildup overnight or for one hour minimum. Then give it another quick scrub with the steel wool. Your distiller will be shining like brand new!

Noice.
Do you just use the cleaning crystals, or do you add vinegar or some other stuff too?
or use citric acid and it will come off in 5.
O

No danger if the sockets and switch get wet?

Doesn't the top need to be plugged in to the unit for the water to boil. Would have liked to have seen what you did with the top while cleaning.

Yes, citric acid (preferably food grade as some may be grown with mold some people are stating)
How long after the clean can you start boiling water again
Wait at least 30 minutes for the unit to cool down is stated in my manual and is confirmed by my experience.

No! He does another video about taking the top section apart
what happens if you leave the lid on when cleaning? I just did. 🙈

Switch it on and leave it ..It won't make a noise because the fan is off so its easy to think it isn't working ..

The instructions say NOT to use steel wool to scrub it.
@@roxanacardenas7623 - I have been using steel wool for 9 years with excellent results.
@@ToxicVaccines_HivHoax Thanks for your answer. I won't be afraid to use one then.
@@roxanacardenas7623 we don't recommend using steel wool.
