I would rate this repair as EASY if you follow my tips in the video. If not, and you drop some nuts inside the door or you don't use paint stick leverage, you are going to have a bad time!
As seen in the video, if you have the two extra wires at the top of the mirror then you have the heated one. So get a heated replacement.
The mirror I installed is a TYC 5350141 and I bought it here for $42 → amzn.to/34ChVTy

Liked the video. Your video actively saved thousands and thousands of dollars from Sienna owner's pocket since released. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this video! The body shop wanted $300 to do this job. Grrr. $45 part + 25 minutes + you and viola - all done. The paint sticks made all of the difference - brilliant!!
I am so happy that I watched this video after I watched several other ones where they tell you that you need to take the whole panel off . No! You do not need to take the whole panel off! Just follow this video! It is simple and fast ! It only takes me 20 minutes to finished the job ! I did not even need to use the paint sticks . Just a screw diver!
Thanks for the vid! Everything went exactly as demonstrated, with just a minor difference with the gasket. My 13/32 is missing, but a 10mm worked as well. I snapped the old back cover on the new mirror, so I didn't even need to paint the new cover, although I probably will, as the old one is a bit scuffed and the fit is just shy of perfect. Took me about 15 minutes.
I have a 2008 sienna XLE and you're video really helped! Had to get a mirror from another XLE - not easy since it was a 2008 with puddle lamps/warming & indicator, cost 300.00 then I painted it, and installed. Easy peezy. I especially liked the paint stick suggestion. I am a 64 year old woman and nothing is impossible with a good RUclips video- so thank you!!
Thank you so much for this video! We replaced my mirror in about 25 minutes. Getting the panel back on is the only tricky part. We only had one paint stirrer so we used two bamboo kitchen spatulas. They were stronger and worked better (although out paint stick was a cheapo one from Lowe's). Dealer wanted $250+ for this. Thanks for saving me over $200!
The paint stirrers that I had, very cheap ones, were not strong nor thick enough for the job. The bamboo kitchen spatula trick worked perfectly for me! Thanks a lot for that!
Your video gave me the confidence to replace my passenger side mirror and save a significant service fee. My power cable was fastened down inside the door, so was not as easily accessible. However I managed to get the old mirror out and new one in. I agree with other viewers that the biggest hassle is the door panel. I'm in Canada and it is December. Those plastic door panels are pretty stiff with the cold. Great video! Thanks so much!
I was searching for a video to replace a 2008 Lexus RX350 passenger mirror and remembered it's a Toyota. This is exactly the same for the Lexus. Thank you! Thank you!
Thanks so much! I just bought a 2004 TS, and after repairing the broken axle, control arms, warped brake drum, installing a new stereo, I'm out $3200.
Now, I can fix the broken side mirror cheaper than the dealer!
Thank you for your help with the installation of the retrovisor right side.
Tank you again😊
I like the paint stirror idea. Took 15 min to do. Great vid.
Thank you so much. This worked great. One of my proudest repairs. My 2017 Sienna had a coupe of extra screws to remove the interior door panel. One very obvious near the opening side and one hidden under the window control panel.
I did find I could hang the top of the door panel over the top of the door frame, then press the panel in place, removing the need for the leverage of the paint stirrers.
Just replaced my mirror after watching this. Thanks for explaining the process. It made my replacement easy!
Do you know If they sell the side mirror parts or just the whole mirror itself?
My husband and I were able to replace our own mirror, thanks to your great video. Thank you!
Just watched the Dishwasher video & found this which I needed. Thanks for clear, step by step videos on basics.
Thanks so much for this - you saved me a couple hundred bucks!!
Great video. Simple, efficient, and to the point. No extraneous or superfluous descriptions that do nothing to help the cause. Well done.
The plastic connectors all broke pulling off the door panel on a cold Montana day. Good video. Very helpful.
Thanks for this video - because of it I was able to install a new mirror assembly by myself and it saved me a lot of money. Kudos!
Another Sienna mirror fixed with the help of your video. Thanks! Other videos had you taking off the door panel, so much more work.
Don't get it! My 2000 Sienna mirror is attached by three 10mm bolts that are accesses by just opening the door: the door panel is not involved at all?
I recently had to work inside some jeep doors and really fought to get the panels back on after... that paint stick trick probably would have really helped make it easier to do and I will remember that trick for future use. Thanks!
I was so worried about having to pay to replace this this is so simple thank you very much
Even I though I dropped a paint stick inside though, it worked perfectly! Thank you so much!
For some reason I used wrenches in order to put the panel back and I dropped a small one in, hopefully it won’t be very bad or make noise, I’ll use wood sticks to finish that part. Also I broke some of the plastic things that were holding that panel when I opened it, so if somebody reading this before installation - be careful with all that, it’s very easy to make a mistake and very hard to fix it, but all in all it’s not hard and it can be done within 30 minutes
Thank you very much! You have an amazing technique it helps a lot replacing my side mirror.
Thank you for the awesome video. I got half way through then checked my new mirror and it was a different colour lol. It was wrapped up.
Thanks for the great video, I only dropped one nut down into the door and the paint stirrer tip was super helpful.
How did you deal with your the nut you dropped? I am worried even before starting the work!
Thank you thank you. Following your video, I replaced mine about 30 minutes. I pull out the panel only haft way just enough room for me to work with. Therefore, I did not need the paint sticks to snap the panel back.
I thank AdamDIY for these instructions which got me through the job. However he coyly says “I guess I didn’t hit record” on the toughest part of the job: getting the panel off that lip. NOT a job for bare fingers! It took me two claw hammers plus the paint sticks, & some violence (hammering one hammer with another). Dislodging the window weatherstrip was unavoidable. I pulled it all the way off. At the end, I hammered the strip straight , bent the attachment tabs back at right angles to the strip, reinstalled it and folded the tabs with fingers.
Can you please post a video on how to pull up the side thing
Dang. Thanks for this video! Very easy to follow
Thanks for the video - well done. You are gonna be saving me some money. Thanks Again!
That 13/32" nut is actually metric 10mm, which is 12.6/32
Chill out 😄
I was going to say the same thing, as my 13/32” socket was too shallow, so I used a 10mm socket instead.
He's right. Anything other than 10mm exactly won't work very well.
What if i can’t find my 10mm
Just replaced my passenger mirror with the video's help. Awesome 👍
Thank you! This was super easy with the video as a guide.
Thank you for this video. It made it easy for me to replace my door mirror.
The swivel that actually holds my mirror upright is broken, so my mirror is dangling. I get that mirrors cost a lot, but a $200 a service fee just to do this is RIDICULOUS. If I do decide to get the new mirror instead of just gorilla glue the dangling one which is what I'm going to do for the time being, I'll come right back to this video. The hardest part seems to be the door panel- not even the mirror replacement itself. Thank you for this!
With tax on my 2020 Sienna was $236 for the mirror & $138 labor. I would've dropped the nuts. 😁
Clean, smart mechanic ... very impressive! Thanks for your help!
Great video. Just what I needed. I was able to replace the mirror in no time. Thanks
The idea of partially prying the panel is brilliant, that saves a lot of time. I'm here to see how easy to install a camera on my side mirror that works with my new Sony head unit. Still searching on how to trigger the camera without overriding the reverse camera. I Need to know how to get the power from the signal prior to the flashing relay.
Trank you very much! That’s what I needed for my 08 Toyota. And did it.
the other 2 videos i watched removed way more screws to take the door panel off. a bit confused about which i have to do. my best guess is the way you do it makes it harder to reseat the door panel.
thank you!
Hi Adam, thank you for your help/videos, I know this video is 3 yrs old but do you think it has same mechanism or set up for a year 2020? or if anybody knows it? thank you!
You make it look easy! thanks for the tutorial
Many thanks. Great video.
Hi Adam, Thanks for the instructional video. It's very helpful. I especially like the paint stick tip. I have to replace my mirror but the cover that came with it is unpainted. It looks like raw plastic. My question is: Do I or should I prime it before I put the final color on? Thanks, Jim
Thank you 👍👍👍
Thanks for the helpful video! If the mirror casing is still in good shape but the mirror glass is broken, can just the mirror be replaced without the entire mount/casing?
Clean video and straight to the point!
Thank you 👍now i can replace my side mirror
Nice to see happy atom back again
Thanks man! This is actually a video I filmed in 2017! Never uploaded it. I have to clear off the hard drive.
Thanks ❤❤
I just followed this and it works great. Getting the door pannel back on is the tricky part.
Thank You so much for this video
The aftermarket mirror that I purchased has a different connector than what's in the door. Any thoughts?
Thanks Dude!
Huge help! Yes, 10mm.
Great video! Thanks
Is it possible to make them power if only able to move th manually?
Tanks boss! With your help, I did it today.
I didn't have even an idea how to start, but with your instructions It was easy.👍
This was the greatest help! I did it in less than 30 min! Thank you for the help!
thank you so much! I think I can do it.
Awesome!
I found it easier to just remove the door panel all together. Its not hard at all and it goes back together alot easier. Otherwise great video
Our mirror assembly is white (Sienna XLE). It is heated and has turn signals. Any way to salvage the white plastic shell and put it on the replacement?
Can I install a mirror without Signal light and power opening and closing?
Thanks for your help 👌👍👏
Hey. Thank you for this . I have a 2002 XLE and the driver's side mirror just unsprung. Do you know if that's reparable without having to replace the entire mirror fixture? P.S. It's not heated. Thank you for responding.
Hi Adam,
Video was extremely helpful but I ran into and issue. When I installed Power Heated Mirrors it drained my battery completely dead within minutes. Is there a switch that I can buy for a 2006 Toyota Sienna LE to toggle on and off?
Are you using a 13/32 socket because your 10mm is missing? 😂 In all seriousness I just replaced my mirror by using this video. Thank you!
Great video
I'm guessing its 10mm whatever works good video
very Great
Long time no video. If you still have that Corolla, would be nice to see more on it.
I only had to replace the glass mirror insert, with plastic backing but, I had to make sure I purchased the insert for heated mirrors, on my 2006 Toyota Sienna XLE.
Can you give me the part number for the plastic insert? I snapped my mirror while backing out. The everything is okay except I think the force broke the plastic clip and holds the mirror in place. I'm not quite sure as to which part to buy? Thanks.
@@aajeev I pasted the URL to the part but RUclips deleted it.
@@cgrscott Thanks, I decided to just replace the entire assembly. I appreciate you trying.
Thank you so much
Do they have relay for mirrow
Thank you
Same instructions for a 2013? Is the part the same? I really only need to replace the glass. The housing is fine. I can’t seem to find Glass that I am sure it will fit and also work the blind side mirror detector. Any links would be appreciated! Thank you.
For the cheap person. I just went to a dollar store, bought a cheap mirror, cut the glass to shape (I had a glass cutter) and glued it in place. E6000 is a great glue.
mine is identical to this broken wise but i have a 2011 limited with the turn signal in the mirror and i cant find it anywhere
Just had to get replacement glass for a 2011 limited at the dealer. It is pricey.
@@gregwynn5943 yea mine had to get a new motor and glass
Does this work for a 2017 sienna?
BE CAREFUL NOT TO PULL THE Window Weather Stripping OFF Like I DID !!!!!! There are a few more screws that hold the Door On, that if you remove them you are able to get the Panel Over That Lip without the "Paint Sticks" and it won't pull the window stripping off. Zerr0
nice!
What year is this
2006
Now fix the ex that tore off mirrors
WARNING- the replacement mirror pin-outs and connectors are not consistent between sienna trim levels. I bought replacement mirrors and discovered after the fact that the higher trim level connectors are not compatible.
I Chang Mirrow but power on
Other videos tells you to remove the entire door panel. Don’t need to do that.
Thank you for your video
Will this work on a 2018 sienna?
