#ikki68 #aurora #mechanicalkeyboards - Наука
So very tempted with this, I really like how big and small companies are trying to bring the hobby to a wider audience with such great and affordable kits
If you haven't dip in. The V2 is coming soon!!
Looks like a really nice board, but I like muh F row
What other plate do you recommended for ikki68? i'm still new in this hobby, i never try other plate
I didn’t get any other plates but FR4 would be my choice
I love the sound of this guy its so relaxing
He's our tech god. With steve from GN as tech jesus and Linus as Tech spirit.
He has a great voice!
MULTI LAYOUT HOT-SWAP??? This NEEDS to become a standard thing. I've missed out on SO many great boards because they don't support ISO.
Not just multi layout hot-swap....but they literally have 7 different PCBs to choose from. I personally purchased a jade green and a charcoal R1 ikki68 Aurora, came with a multi layout hotswap PCB.....then I bought the "Tromso" PCB which is the hotswap Per-key RGB Bluetooth wireless PCB. Snagged the battery from their discord for $8, and received that within 2 weeks from the beginning of the Group Buy.
Now on round 2 they have 4 new PCBs that are a tiny bit thinner and the Bluetooth PCB is Via compatible instead of just ZMK configuration software.
Then just snagged an aluminum top peice for $55 and put that on my R1 ikki68 Aurora .
8:00 was the biggest problem for me with R1. I tried 5 different keycaps sets of varying profiles and only 1 did not bind on the case at the spacebar. At first I thought it was the stabs but maybe I need to try moving around the plate to fix the alignment. Thanks for bringing that up!
This is actually what turns me off this board. I really like using cherry profile keycap sets, but the enter key switch orientation as well as the spacebar orientation turns me off. I much prefer it have all the switches be south facing and not have the extra layout options like stepped caps and ISO enter on the hotswap pcb.
I redid my board like 6 times before I got it right. The shifts or capslock/enter hit the case for me unless I get it EXACTLY right
Yeah, its reallly tricky (frustrating lol)
@@badseedtech do you plan on reviewing the EPOS H6 PRO GAMING HEADSET?
I initially used long pole switches like the Boba U4Ts and the Auralites on mine and I had no issues with interference at all. But recently, I used meteor whites that has a normal pole length and I encountered issues on my shift keys and spacebar. I would suggest looking for long pole switches that you'd like to use on the Ikki68 Aurora to prevent interference issues.
"missed out on the poron kit, because i thought it was not necessary" Me now: 😅
The transluscent dark purple kbd67lite is just too tempting. I prefer the smaller layout in the end and the color options combined with lower price won me over.
I might like to get a modular board for the long term like the ikki68 but I doubt I would ever fully utilize it's more modular design.
Either way I'm glad that I could be able to even decide between the two. Both seem so good
How much does the flex cuts add the the typing experience. I have the r1 pcb witch has no flex cuts and I wanted to know if it made a big difference in the feel.
With all the interference that it might create with the accessories that I already have I’ll be going with the kbd67 lite R3. Plus if you get it on Black Friday it’s $99
I JUST CHECKED THE GROUP BUY, IM A DOLLER SHORT, WHY DOES GOD HATE ME
(The group buy is gonna end soon too 😫)
So the aurora switches not cause interference with north facing pcb is what you are saying?
Love both my KBD67 and Ikki68! I am more partial to the Ikki feel and aesthetically but can’t go wrong either in my humble opinion also.
Really can’t…they’re both very good
So keychron q1 or ikki 68 or kbd67 lite r3? I want the deepest thock I already have ink blacks on the q1 with mods yet it still doesn't thick as much as I would have liked.
Definitely Ikki or kbd.
I never had the issue with north facing switches interfering the keycaps before with my R1. I've tried Licacs, Lavenders, Alpacas, TTC Ace , TTC Wild and Zealios :^)
It's very variable. I've got it with my GMK Modo Light set on my current fave switches (Banana Splits), but most of my random/clone PBT sets don't have it. It depends on the caps and switches.
What switches are you running?
@@badseedtech Lavenders right now
Sorry, I meant caps. I’m going to do a deep dive video in interference to see how big of a deal it really is.
A lot of switch manufacturers have made subtle changes to top housings to avoid this so I ordered up a ton of switches and caps to test.
@@badseedtech Very exciting to hear this! I've also wanted to do the same video but I don't know if I have the time or the resources lol. Based on my experience, it can happen on every row except the topmost one on Cherry and even on sufficiently thick OEM profile keycaps. Looking forward to the deep dive 😊
Group buys ? No thanks!
I wished case makers offered optical pcb options. That would totally open the floodgates for me to get into custom keebs.
you actually pronounce Wuque correctly!
Haha I try. My Mandarin tones are pretty rough and I couldn’t figure out if the “eh” sound rose at the end. Glad it sounded alright!
I have the R1 and I love this board. Insane customization
i missed it, but i got the R1 from the aftermarket because ... how can't you after watching this video....
Duuuuude. Any way to mimic that Poron sound with the gmmk pro. Holy moly that is ASMR for me
Thanks for dropping this! I love the sound and don't mind the layout on IKKI68, but the fact that no stab come with the kit is a little bit disappoint. I have already jump into KBD67 lite.
north-facing space bar? I'm out - kbd67 lite ftw
The only shipping option is 50$ Thats a rough bullet to bite down on when the price of the board is decent.
Oof, that’s pretty rough for shipping- I didn’t even think to check it. 😬
@@badseedtech I still went in on it for sure, Fog case, domikey ghost keypads. Gonna be an interesting looking board for sure.
Was wondering whether to buy the alu top case or not. Since you mentioned it’s more of an aesthetic choice. I have my answer. Awesome video!
I'm sure it's wonderful to type on, but it's ugly AF IMO.
Can’t wait for my R1 to get here in January! So excited for the peaches and cream. And MODE sixty five next week! Such a good holiday season.
Currently rocking R1 and I love it. It’s benched my think 6.5 v2
I have many question but first i:m thinking of taking the ikki zen collab kit with a alu plate bonus but I don't know if I can fit the brass weight in the board if I want to use the silicone dampener that are in the base kit of the ikki zen do you think it's possible? I can't find the gmk keycaps set so do you know where I can find it on the web site? Finally if the keycaps set is out of stock do you have alternative keycaps (profile) to use that will fit without causing interference (mainly the sound) ? Like always you do a great job and have a nice day
The weight works with the silicon base. GMK is a manufacturer so there are always sets but they’re pricy and in group but usually.
If you mean the set I showed in the video, its from Novelkeys and not yet released.
What switch would you recommend for the kbd? I picked one up on Black Friday and want to pick up some switches while they’re on sale. I currently have the drop alt with glorious panda switches and I really enjoy that. I’d probably use the alt for more gaming and the kbd for typing. Since I’m so new to building keyboards, I’m open to either tactile or linear switches, basically just want something that sounds and feels good. Any recommendations would be sweet. Love your videos!
Let's see from what part of the world you're watching BadSeed Tech video, I'll start I'm in Missouri USA
The 67lite is not a group buy. It’s in stock.
Dam already in the group buy for kd67 lite ahhhh
I jumped on this GB, it's actually my first GB so I'm keen. North facing spacing is fine by me as I run a flip spacebar on cherry caps.
I grabbed the fog with the with white alu top spare just in case I rather one than the other. Overall the colours for R2 are a bit meh but at least with white it should look decent with whatever caps I choose.
@@p.e.r.c.y u shouldve chose the snow variant lol, its the fog bottom with the white alu top
@Dexter ah switchable tops for extra customization, got it
Screw it, you can't be the richest guy in the graveyard so I'm in for the board, stabs and alu top case.
If you have friends that bought a Jelly Epoch or a Mr. Suit TKL, you can ask them for their stab shims which come standard with each kit. Those shims allow you to use aftermarket stabilizers without having to do any scuffed mods.
Just picked up 67lite.. cheaper, easier to build, and just better in my opinion
Can you do a review on the kbdfans daisy 40
Just got my kbd67 lite during today’s restock! Got the black kit W/ and extra transparent deep blue case, as well as the lube deck and tools bundle.
Gonna get some Krytox 205 G0, gateron yellows, and films on novelkeys. Then I’m thinking of topping it off W/ some Glorious GPBT Ocean keycaps (total £280). This winter gonna be good…
That’s gonna be a nice build for sure!
Joined the GB for this one! Wanted to ask which layout to use so that there would be no interference, if that makes sense 😅 Like, should I use the stepped caps lock or the normal one to make use of the south facing socket? Thanks!!
To completely avoid it, you should run stepped caps, non split backspace and shifts, and split spacebar (which requires the purchase of the larger stab kit as the space uses 2 additional 2u stabs)
The rotated enter and backspace are unavoidable regardless of config.
Hope that helps!
Got the winter breath version. Soooooo excited
Got the full zen pond collab. This makes me more exited. Have to look at the poron since you mentioned it
finally im first :D
🏅
Check out their Mammoth 75 going into GB soon and selling about 200 in stock in December. That mirror finish is rad.
Mammoth 75......
You're welcome
good gracious the NK PBT Taro is driving me nuts, damn I need it so much !!!!!!
I missed the gb, will there be a r3?
kbd spacebar sounds bad add some foam
Why is there no black ikki 68
FB60 looks like a much better board then KBD67III
with the amount of customizability here im kinda shocked they didnt go for a daughterboard to help with the insane flex you start out with. it would have also made it possible to make it a hub back as well if you want something like that from the hhkb or the nimbleback. this is still pretty sick though and i think a lot of people are gonna want this one, especially since there is a board option that has per key rgb
One of the best entry board (and it's gasket mount)
ill buy it if you give me the money /j
Why did i not see this 4 days ago 😭
I'm sticking with R1. I'm happy with the Mizu :)
I wish I could buy it ngl
Anyone can predict when (if ever) there'll be a round 3? I missed this out
So I copped the Ikki before I saw this video. Will Husky switches work ok? Was planning on GMK Dualshot R2 and Husky switches for this one. Just wanna be sure before I get them and mod them.
I have had a Dygma Raise for over a year (thanks to your video). I have no intention of changing it out. Yet, you do these videos so well, I keep watching. Great job!
Glad you’re enjoying the Raise!
I prefer the look of kbd67 lite but with the ikki68 beginners can try out what level of flex, plate material, and layout they like, as well as BT with VIA. I recommend looking up reviews of long term users of both as they've both been out for a few months now with previous rounds. I.e, both are gasket mounted but the implementation is different and limits flexibility on kbd67 lite - but this like other traits is subjective and different users have different preferences. Keycaps interference on ikki68 is also good to note as well.
Tysm I'm making this decision today. Going with the KBD and maybe someday in the future I'll spend up for one of the sick cannonkeys Ikki x GMK collab boards. Don't wanna spend all that for the fish one out now
I got the R1 with NK creams. Sounds like a rattle can and I love it.
It sounds like legos lmao
my r1 pcb didn't come with flex cuts no wonder its so stiff
Yeah thats the big change to R2 - thinner and flex cuts and it probably makes a big difference
That gmk taro set looks amazing
Perfect timing dropping this today ahead of the KBD67 sale, helped me make my decision! The different switch orientations on the ikki steered me towards the KBD67 for sure. Amazing vid as always, thanks
Already ordered my ikki just trying to figure out what switches to put on it. I missed the poron insert. I also got the kbd 65 pharaoh coming my way.
Still available I believe.
Do you think that this keyboard will have interference issues with keycaps like akko and epomaker? I'm using gateron yellows if that helps.
I really wanted to get this board and do a split space board, but I’m getting the Wind-X instead. Ikki68 R2 is still very tempting…
i joined in on the r1 gb back in march and the board is pretty good
This is so awesome, for me as a holder of the r1 ikki, the PCB is a big changer. Because of flex cuts and 1.2mm thickness
keyboards are getting good these days
Im really pumped up with that "lets go" every intro
Yo Brian great comparison and review. I personally bought the kbd67 lite today.
What's your opinion on the Onion switches compared to other popular switches? Other reviews have said they are super smooth, and on the loud + clacky side.
I would agree with that. Not as high pitched as a Tangie. Spring weight is good, they’re very smooth, no ping or spring crunch. I like them.
Ordered the fog 😝
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Why is it important to also buy the poron dampener kit?
It offers a much better sound than the silicon top dampener
@Badseedtech
I know this is probably a little delayed of a question but Did the R1 ikki68 Aurora's group buy (charcoal Grey and Translucent green cases) come stock with the Pouron dampening sheets?
Or were these only an option to buy as a separate add-on for R2 ikki68 Aurora's?
Banger of absoluteness
Bought it after I tweeted you the other day. I bought the Poron foam after the video.
Good man picking up the foam
Thanks for the review!
I wonder if would long pole switches help? I know people have recommended them for when there’s interference with North Facing LEDs.
Yes long pole switches help out, I use long poles on all my mods with this board.
I missed it...
Thanks for reminding me to add some stabs! I only had the board in my cart
I have one overlapping day to decide which one to get for my girlfriend as her first board.
As a first board, the KBD67 is a much easier imo
@@badseedtech I already ordered the KBD67 thx to your review. I do not have a problem with assembling and building boards though and it is all about the the end result (for her), so I am still on the edge to also try the Ikki68 and just sell the less desirable. Oh man the rabbit hole is deep.
You da man Brian, but I showed up way to late to the party. All sold out. Thanks for introducing me to ikki; now I’m left lusting for it.
i've been a car guy since a long time but even still this level of finicky customization options border on O.C.D. i mean damn even restoration community would say duck off ya pedantic twats
maybe only limited edition buyers and Pagani owners would cream at the sight of electronics like this and then there are yacht people
I like the creativity but I'll wait on the Q2....
Ugh I like the Ikki sound better but KBD67 Lite is cheaper and doesn't sound that different... its p much just the spacebar that bothers me a little. This is a hard decision
Yea I got rd 1 but just now noticed rd2 had some flex pcb and plates. Def want to grab one of those plates if not the bodo pcb aswell. Looks alot better.
I jumped all over the R1 Group Buy... ngl kinda interested in jumping in on it again, and getting the Aurora Clear cw this time around.
Why must Wuque do this to me.
EDIT: NK PBT Taro. I appreciate your extremely cultured choice of keycap choices, Dadseed
Do you still recommend the Aeon Open X headphones? I normally game, and listen to music on my pc.
dang how'd you get a custom badge? was there an option for that?
There was at some point and will be again, but Wuque included it with my review unit
hey badseed! ikki68 or bakeneko? thx 👊
Haven’t heard Bakeneko - I was put off by the standard 60% layout and the look of the paint process.
The problem with this keyboards its not compatible with other stabs right which then adds on to this "budget board"
How did u get a clear black one
Its an R1 case - got it from Wuque
any recommendations for keycaps that wouldn't have interference with the ikki
basically anything that isnt cherry profile
If you still want PBT and a similar profile, IFK is a tiny bit taller and generally is okay. Other taller options include ASA, SA, KAT. Uniform orofiles also should be fine like XDA, DSA, KAM.
not to take anything away from these boards but im really looking forward to, and waiting on the bauer lite. i think it’s gonna beat out both of these boards
is there any way to buy these keyboards already assembled?
Alright im out of the keyboard game its to much now my wallet hurts
Is there a board I can buy that’s close to as good as these custom boards?
That keycap interference makes this board a automatic no for me. Looks great though. Thanks for the info
I think that's only if you use the none-standard layout like split spacebar. If you use standard 6.25u spacebar you're fine.
Its the opposite. Full bar has interference, split does not. Of course, you COULD always run flipped full spacebar
@@badseedtech oof. my mistake... I heard interference is more of a problem on r3. I tried a gmk spacebar on my northfacing keychron. There is a difference in sound when I flipped the spacebar. But with a quick typing test...I don't know...seems negligible. Hopefully it's not too bad when I actually try it on ikki.
Flipped spacebar for regular use is out of the question though...I cannot stand the look lol
