- 1st Impressions Of Bandung, Indonesia - Is Bandung better than Jakarta?
My previous vlog from Jakarta ➡️ • Tourists Don't Go Here...
Today is my first day in Bandung, Indonesia. Let's explore the city, get some first impressions, meet some people and try some food. Bandung is not that far away from Jakarta, I took the new high-speed train to get here. It was an easy ride from Jakarta to Bandung, took less than an hour with that train. Bandung is also a quite large city, more than 2 million people living here. So, join me as we explore Bandung, Indonesia.

Loving your videos Ken, been watching for some time! We are going to Koh Kood and Koh Chang next month after watching your videos!! We lived in Indonesia for many years and are really enjoying your current series - keep up the good work
that roti bakar is in sudirman street, and that roti bakar stall is busy with customer😅
Check bule_barbie,she's from german, she lives in bandung
01:40 Hi Ken, i think, that you had been to Georgetown / Penang, isn't it? Or also i have seen similar than this in Vietnam. At both places they have a similar version (passenger in front) but with a bicycle at the rear. Do these wonderfull Rickshaws doesn't exist anymore?
15:43 Not only in Indonesia, but mainly in the Muslim countries are more smokers than in Non-Muslim countries. That's what i saw after visiting 140 countries
Indonesians are so friendly and happy! Looks like a low stress world
Low stress but high level of corruption

Nice to meet you Ken....me and my family very happy to have you in bandung
bro you went to visit, and suddenly you became the superstar of the city that everyone wants to take a picture with.

Thanks a lot for explaining 🙏
i didn't know cassava leaves are edible! they don't contain cyanide like the roots?
@@oxoelfoxo Yes, Indonesian people do eat cassava leaves, locally known as "sayur daun singkong." While cassava roots contain cyanogenic glycosides that can be toxic if not properly prepared, the leaves have lower levels of cyanide and can be safely consumed after thorough cooking, which typically involves multiple washes (3-5 times washes) to remove any remaining toxins and a cooking process that takes approximately 20-30 minutes to ensure safety.
@@KenAbroadbentor is abbreviation of BEcak moTOR.. old people says "BEcak moNTOR...

Good evening from Maldives. Dear friend Ken. All your videoes are so interesting for me. I never miss any of your video after I subscribed your channel. Really Very interesting. Keep it up. Mr. Ken. Good luck. 7:17
Indonesians sounds very polite, happy, helpful and honest.
Central Bandung is for historical building, shopping, and city vibes
Southern Bandung is for local vibes and tea plantations at the end
Northern Bandung is for nature, hills, mountains, tea plantations, hot springs, and cafes
Eastern Bandung is also for experienced local vibes and there's a local football (Persib Bandung) Stadium and the brand-new and the biggest mosque in West Java
Wow, what an amazing bus city tour ! The buses look unique and it's good that there is a tour guide who provides information along the journey. Glad that you try Indonesian rendang and like it 👍👏 A big shout-out to Taufik for his hospitality...treating you to a cup of yummilious coffee and tea. Oh wow, that gentleman at that "roti bakar" stall speaks good English. Good of him to help and recommend the best roti bakar for you. Oh gosh, the toasts are thick, no wonder you are stuffed after a few pieces. Great video again, Ken. Cannot thank you enough for sharing with us this interesting journey. All the best and safe travels always !
Thank you so much 🙏
@@KenAbroad You're most welcome. It's always fun to travel through you, Ken. Xie xie 🙏
Bandung is the city of mode and one of the culinary center in Indonesia, that's why Bandung get the nickname as Parijs van Java, if there is something new that goes trending in Bandung, it definitely gotta trending throughout Indonesia 😂.
Oh and many writers in colonial times said that Bandung and Bumi Pasundan (West Java) was created when God was smiling 😊
At Bandung try visit:
- Cihampelas walk
- Paris Van Java
- Braga street & Asia Afrika
- Balai kota & Dago street
For Natural beauty , visit
- Kawah Putih ( White Crater ) & Ciwidey southern part of Bandung around 25 km southern part of Bandung
- Gunung Tangkuban Perahu & Lembang , floating market located nortern part of Bandung
You lucky found that's lagend roti bakar in bandung....
Great content. Thank you Ken.👍👍👍😍😍😍
Your open and friendly vibes are coming back to you through the locals Ken. You are cordial, respectful and trusting, people can feel that and want to share themselves and their country with you. I love to see it, you could give lessons on "How to be accepted and make friends, everywhere you go." I would not have thought about combining those particular ingredients...cheese, chocolate, and peanut sauce but would definitely try it.
Thanks for taking us along for an insightful tour of Bandung. It will be on my bucket list to visit this interesting city in the near future.Yes,the power of your hands is certainly very useful when crossing the busy roads.😂Will be looking forward to more of your food trail.Stay safe Ken.💕🇲🇾

Love your positive attitude. The coffee in the café while raining felt so cozy 😊

Really enjoyed this one Ken, love the part where you just vibed with the people waiting for the rain to stop.
I once got lost behind the train station there so it was nostalgic to see the area in your video. Probably a sign I should go back!
Stay safe and well, looking forward to more soon. Looooots of delicious food in Bandung, I hope you get around to most of them. Sudirman Street is a mustn't miss!

Here it is 🙏😊
Hai Ken...!!! Long time ago I've been to Bandung (I think around 2009) and it's good to experience different culture... but I love to be in Solo and Jogjakarta more because it's kind of more "nature" vibes... Bandung is kind of "compress" but I love the food... good taste also although different flavour... good experience 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wow this good to see more Jakarta been the but haven’t explored Jakarta like you 😊
Enjoy brother
Nice vlog❤
Nice vid; got to visit Bandung someday..
Watching u tour around Bandung in a fanciful bus is amazing. I would say the colourful buses r nice n is my first time seeing such a bus. The grilled bread over a charcoal fire will definitely taste great. Tq Ken for another awesome upload today. Happy travelling!!!

Hey you're in the city that i come from! good to see you having a good time with the locals. Obviously the city center that you visited is a nice place to visit but the outer ring of the city as a whole like Lembang,Pangalengan and Ciwidey where the nature is more prevalent, are also some great spots for you to explore. Hope you continued having a pleasant trip there and in indonesia as a whole😄

Ken, rendang in Indonesia is out of the world, I personally love rendang there… Enjoy n be safe ok…
I think the people react very positive to you because they can see you have a great respect Ken, keep it up bro, i remember since you started in Thailand 3 years ago that you always have a very positive and happy attitude and people react well to that 🙂just for interest sake, what are your accommodation costs while you are in Indonesia
thanks! I paid around $40-45 per night in Indonesia
Be health and succes...bro👍
Tiktok brings me here.. glad to find your channel you are such a nice person.. thanks for visiting Indonesia..
Welcome to the channel 🙏
The rendang at those Padang food shops is my favourite food - try the corn fritters they serve next time you at one :) Ben from Wales - also the large blocks of fish/tuna at these stalls are also so good
I'm curious, if you're sitting in the front, how do the driver see the road ahead when driving?
In fact, almost East Asian countries prohibit smoking in public places, so the smoking population is really very small!
The beef Randang looks delicious and it should have a strong taste!
The peanut and chocolate toast looks delicious, I’ve never seen such a thick toast sandwich also! Thank you very much for sharing! 👍😄🙏
The driver seat is slightly higher, so he can see the road above our head
The passanger seat is lower than the bike so the driver can clearly see the road

Hi Ken.. Bentor (Rickshaw) used to be a very popular mode of transportation in Indonesia. But they become more rare lately especially in the bigger city and getting replaced by online ride share.
Bandung tempat yang sangat indah dan bagus suasananya

Welcome to bandung! I hope you have a good experience while staying 🙏
Thank you for exploring my home city :)
To the city of Yogyakarta, sir. There are lots of typical Javanese culinary delights and tourist attractions there and I'm waiting for the video
success always Ken
Enjoy...ken in indonesia...becareful 🇮🇩
Ken, the vegetable you ate was cassava leaves. The rendang was announced as a number 1 dish in the world by CNN.
Thankyou for a very good video.
Hey, good job Ken.😎
And Bandung for me is not just geographichal thing. More than that, it involves a feeling who accompany me in silent. 😊
the padang food that u r trying is one of the authentic padang food in bandung, really missed that rendang 😢 regards from sydney
semangat ken... yo're very nice person
The landscape outside Bandung city center are amazing. You should go to Ciwidey to see Kawah Putih and Tea Plantation, Lembang for volcano and hot spring and also it has some park such as floating market, orchid forest, the lodge of Maribaya etc.
What is the famous mountain called where people go hiking?
@@tobacco118 in which Province? in West Java there are some famous mountain for hiking or mountaineering :
1. Ciremai 3078 m
2. Pangrango 3019 m
3. Gede 2958 m
4. Cikuray 2821 m
5. Papandayan 2665 m
6. Patuha 2434
7. Salak 2211
etc
If you ask about Volcano maybe its Tangkuban Perahu. But before you go better check the price for foreigner. Some youtuber shock and complaint about the price.
Bandung surrounded by amazing nature landscape from Tea Plantation , Volcano, waterfall, Crater, Hot Spring etc. Those place rarely visited by foreigner.
@@andipejalan3382 The one in Bandung or near Bandung. I visited but forgot the name. Gede rings a bell.
Hello Ken. I really love to watch your video. Enjoy Indonesia 🎉
I recommend you to visit Yogyakarta / Jogja. 👍
Thanks for watching 🙏
Hi Ken, you are really an explorer👍I am from Padang, W. Sumatra where that rendang originates from. That rickshaw is called BECAK😊
Hello Ken and everybody. Have a glorious weekend. It's indeed a great experience trying that motorized rickshaw. Yeah, it's a little faster than the non motorized one....a typical mode of transportation there. Our rickshaw peddlers are only available in touristy places in Penang and Melaka 😄😃
Ah yeah I saw them too in melaka and penang 😄

Hello ken, you must visit jogjakarta. The most culturally and friendly people in Indonesia, you'll definitely impressed, IMO.
Don't forget, strolling around "Kota Gede".
Nice Jersey cloth Ken😊
I prefer the savory ones when it comes to roti bakar. My favorite flavour is corned beef and cheese. You should try it 🤤😍
now foreigner is rare come to bandung. when i was little maybe 27years ago, there was a lot foreigner, especially at cihampelas area. i spent my childhood there and always see a lot of foreigner on my way home from school. And actually there were 1 bus of foreigner that visiting our school to see how we study at school... but after 1998 i think there was less foreigner came to bandung....
Bandung is awesome, not as walkable as Jakarta but it's got a nice vibe, I really liked Lembang and Braga Street when I went, food is way better than in Jakarta!
Paris Von Java nickname really fits Bandung, admitedly that initial area in your video near the Chinese origin people's restaurants area has some really great food, and that was the only area that I didn't find chaos the traffic 😂, when I went it was worse the traffic due to public holidays so many people from Jakarta go on trips to Bandung!, but yeah overall indonesian people are super chill regardless of which city you go to, it's just rare to see foreigners in Bandung unless you go to Paris Von Java Mall and a few other spots near that area.
Just a tips. You can bargain about the price for bentor. It isnt a fix rate. Example you already know price with another transportation is 12,000 rupiah. You can bargain the price around that number for the bentor.
Ok enjoy your trip. Enjoy Indonesia ❤
Om bule mantap ❤
Good bro
Try batagor abrag or kupat tahu when you in bandung, highly recomended.. it's so tasty. 👍
Mr,ken try visiting Mount Tangkuban Perahu, there the view is good, there is also a beautiful hot crater and a tea garden and cool air. In Bandung the people are also very friendly 👍🤗
