    1:48 The Little Western was built under government order in 1916, but only ran skeletal services after the mines closed in 1946. From then until it was relaid in 1964 it ran only skeletal services. No engines were known to work the line regularly at that point but it is likely that several engines were trialed on the line upon its opening and were likely called up as needed.

    QUICK THEORY:
    Mike said that with his red paint he looks like a pillar box, which are used to collect mail
    So what about a story where Mike gets to run a small railway mail train? Like Percy, but in a much smaller scale and covering just a portion of the Island (the Arlesdale Railway)
    I mean just think about it, mail has to be collected in trucks and we know that Mike likes working with trucks much more than coaches so overall I think it would be fitting enough

In the end of the episode of the application of Mike's Whistle, Duck's whistle is finally cleared out and the small controller doesn't appear for the rest of the episode, and he also doesn't scold Mike at all.

    Another difference I think should be worth to point out in 'Mike's Whistle', is that when the author describes Mike's safety valve to 'blow off', he didn't literally mean it broke. My experience in railway terms indicates that, when the boiler's steam pressure builds up at the start of the day, a blast of steam from the safety valve indicates simply that the engine has reached full working pressure to start away. Mike's driver, upon noting this in result of Mike being anger-triggered (though one is left to speculate just how the engine's face can trigger an effect on their boiler), notes that he is the first to be able to leave the shed. While the TV series' perspective is also applicable, I wanted to explain the real intention of the author. Regards, Samuel Farris.

      Wee is a slang word for little or small "verra wee engines" means very small engines.

      Just try reading the book The Twin Engines for the first time and not get stuck trying to pronounce Donald and Dougles’ Scottish mumbo jumbo.

      Verra wee would be Scots for very small. Not slag as some ignoramus here claims

    Imagion if the Arlesdale Engines were in the Model Era about 4 season like there were N scale

    • @iugamarisca-o2l
      @iugamarisca-o2l Год назад

      More like HO scale. The models for Standard Gauge are in Gauge 1 and the Narrow Gauge models are in Gauge O, so the Small Gauge locomotives should be in HO gauge.

    Can I also add to this:
    In the illustration of ‘useful railway’ the tractor Willy is driving appears to be based on a Fordson (Recognised because of the Blue paint and rims) but in the episode it appears as a Fendt (Dark green with Red rims) I suppose this is because one of the animators preferred Fendt colours over the Fordson ones. Mind you they only bear resemblance to these tractors but aren’t specifically stated due to the fact that they don’t carry their brand names like other tractors do (Terence being another example)
