its interesting to hear how differently people perceive music. you praised mafia in the morning and said that loco is kinda boring. on the contrary i think that mitm is really basic and lazy and that loco is a comeback to signature itzy sound (thanks to galactika). music is so subjective and thats why i like to watch reaction videos

I’m glad mitm exists cuz it shows a new side to them and girlgroups overall but I find loco 100x more interesting and more their “itzy” sound. Only Loco is slightly more palatable straight away

I kinda dig the weird beat but Swipe as a whole feels like it was made purely to be a TikTok sound so that makes so much sense.
For me this is their best title track in terms of music production. It gives a Second Generation vibe like it don't have beat drop but instead, a catchy chorus.

@@formoftherapy Loco was produced by Galactika (who did Wannabe and Dalla Dalla). I agree that the chorus slaps but the instrumentals aren’t particularly exciting. Could still be a grower of a song.

itzy has the type of songs that gets addicting the more you listen to it. don't judge yet on the first listen, give it a second try and feel the magic

This is actually true when I first heard Loco I didn't like it that much but after a while the song was very good I also memorized the song while I was just listening to it.

Same I was kinda iffy at first too, like with AESPA's Savage, but MAN! Both songs go SO HARD the more you listen to it especially without the MV's because when an MV is that..intense it kinda takes away from feeling the song completely. I bump LOCO every morning when I get ready for work because it just hypes me the hell up lol.

Swipe is going to be one of the year's more underrated releases. This thing is crazy bop. Favorite ITZY production this side of Not Shy.
Now that you mentioned Yuna's rapping, you HAVE to listen to the whole album, at least the track called #Twenty!! She goes absolutely crazy there with her rapping, it's her fastest yet and she's even considered one of the fastest female rappers in kpop now because of it.

I also didn't like the 1st pre chorus, i thought it sounded weird and out of place, but that was on my firsts listen. Now I'm used to it so it doesn't sound weird anymore. Anyways, i absolutely love this song. The chorus is so addicting.
Yeah I also find it really weird the pre-chorus at first but now I used to it since I keep listening to this addictive track. Not Shy and Loco are obsessive track (for me) and the fact that both are grower songs.
I say this every single time but this has to be ITZY'S best comeback. Swipe honestly reminded me of "It'z Summer" which is awesome because (besides "Crazy in love") "It'z Icy" is my favorite Itzy era! I can't wait for the next comeback already. I personally really love Loco and it might be my favorite title track next to "Icy".

LOL honestly that was my first reaction to ICY I was like...YO what am I listening to?? But now I am soooo addicted to that song and literally every other ITZY title track. I think it's because every comeback is so incredibly different from the last that you're kind of thrown off a cliff, but once you ease into it and taken by ITZY's charisma and talent and iconicness that's when you're like OK. THIS IS A FRICKIN BOP
I feel like the mixing in Loco isn't great, the instrumental sounds too quiet compared to their voices, but i actually LOVE the instrumental, it's my favorite out of all 6 title tracks. I recommend you listen to the Loco instrumental version on spotify, you'll hear a lot of great elements that are otherwise barely noticable. Also, the producers are GALACTIKA, who also did Wannabe and Dalla Dalla.

PD you've had a few songs over the years that have grown on you a lot after your initial reaction, Loco might be one of them (it might not, idk). I enjoyed it initially but now I'm like.... obsessed. It's so good. I agree, the chorus is amazing and Ryujin has been taking years off my life this comeback with that hair.

So I love how even if your not a huge fan of a part of a song… you NEVER say it’s a bad song. You accept that except that everyone hears music differently/ you explain what YOU didn’t like, but also WHY. I’ve listened to so many song and been like- ‘ehh not a fan of this part- but it’s not until I see your videos that I understand WHY I may not like that part.

"LOCO" is my favorite ITZY Title track!! It has a true ITZY Vibe just like "Dalla Dalla" and "Wannabe". I can see where people find it odd. But I personally LOVE it!!^^

@@mitzypooh4643 Idk, but I'm not. I think "LOCO" is perfect all the way around. In my opinion, Peoples issue with the song is that it was hyped up to much and people put their standards for it on the same bar as "Wannabe" & "Dalla Dalla". I personally think you can't do that. If you compare a song thats coming out to the rest of Discography from that artist, your bound to find something disapointing within it that isn't ment to be disappointing. Im over the Moon that it isn't on the same bar as "Wannabe". Thats makes "LOCO" its own thing. Thats why I can't hate ITZY's music, I don't put them the same standards and it helps me enjoy 10× more when it comes out. If you put standards or expectations onto music. Your just gonna make it miserable for yourself. But thats just my opinion, "LOCO" is perfect for me^^
16:30 this is exactly how I feel about this song, it somehow sounds very… generic? itzy killed it of course, and their vocals truly save the song but I can really see any group releasing something similar to loco, something I didn’t feel with any of the others itzy title tracks
Totally agree that this is not their best comeback and kinda disappointed a lil bit. But ngl Loco mv is soooooo good!! Ryujin stands out the most to me in this comeback. Also Yuna's rapping in Swipe is good too

I totally hear you, I wasn't expecting LOCO to also sound like that.. It felt like I was listening to different parts of a song but I think you should listen to it without the 'acting scene' in the M/V. I think LOCO is also a grower kind of song! Also, TEAM GALACTIKA wrote this song too! They created Dalla Dalla and Wannabe! :D
i also felt confused when watching the mv for loco in terms of composition, but after listening to the song on its own i really enjoyed it!! all of the songs on the album slap
PD is speaking facts, for this song, they lost the unique weirdness of their title tracks that they always pull off regardless, which makes them have a unique discography. But LOCO seems pretty catchy but basic. So, definitely not the girls' fault. They made it work incredibly.
Just finished watching Aespa new MV. Thank you for another reaction. Ryujin is a problem, BIAS FOREVER. Loved this comeback and so far great styling for live stages. Also most of us thought Loco gave what people that didn't like Mafia/ In the Morning (dance break, more of an actual MV than a choreography MV pretending to a MV, storyline kind of etc) which caused fans to like Loco instantly. In the Morning will always be my baby. Jordan made me realize that in the Swipe MV they were doing a few vine/tiktok trends which was cool because I didn't notice a few.

I completely agree with your thoughts on Loco. The chorus (and the choreo - you HAVE to watch a full choreo video it’s insane) shoot the song up in my overall title track ranking, but for me it just doesn’t hit hard enough for it to be the title track leading into their first full album. I can see why they chose it over Swipe, but for me Swipe gives a much better overall picture of what the album is like, and the album has some of my favourite bsides of theirs ever. Everyone has mentioned Twenty which is amazing, but I also really love Boom Box as well as Chillin Chillin and think you’d like that one a lot!
Loco is my favourite Itzy song, being simple but deep and powerful, It let hear their voices better, with cool twists and highlights, and is very addictive.
honestly ITZY has such amazing choreographies that even if I don't particularily like the song at first, I always learn the choreo and because of that I listen to the song a lot and end up loving it x) so while Loco is not my favorite from them, it still grew on me.

pd asking where the bridge is was exactly my reaction, i expected a bridge after that pause in the mv but it was more a slowed down chorus and i still don't know how to feel about it. but loco as a whole is extremely catchy and i love the energy of it it's just so itzy!

i agreed with your opinion on the song, their vocals in this song were amazing and lent a lot to the concept, but the instrumental was bland. i listened to the instrumental on its own and thought it was pretty underwhelming, but i still like the total song

Edit: I'd say the song for some reason is way more enjoyable without the mv although the mv is amazing. I feel like you get a much better sense of each parts than when listening with mv.
If you were impressed by Yuna's rapping skills in Swipe, I wholeheartedly recommend you their b-side, Twenty. Yuna's rap is insane! She improved a freaking lot.

I felt the exact same way about loco I felt like it wasn't that good compared to Mafia I was very disappointed but the English Ver. made me like it very much.

Honestly Loco is perfect to me. I really really wanted a hype, crazy, wild, epic and interesting song for them, this song has a crazy build up to the chorus, the bridge is totally unexpected, the prechorus is both sexy and bossy and the verses are so cool (especially the second one with Lias Sooo Dangerous and the sound at the beginning)! I honestly love listening to the Instrumental of this, it's so interesting and artsy ^-^
I completely agree, the best part of this song is the actual performance of the members: both the vocals and choreo delivery

17:34 - 17:54 totally agree . Same feeling. The itzy songs level up each release but Loco song did not reach that expectation . Good thing Swipe saved the image and sound of the group.
You should listen also the #TWENTY b-side of the album. Yuna's rapping is so insane!
i wasn't a huge fan after the first listen to loco... but after 4 or 5 times it grows on you... it really grows on you. Sometimes you need to separate the video from the song and listen... because there is SO MUCH going on in the video it is difficult initially to grasp it all.
Swipe is awesome. That 3rd chorus where they tie it all together is just magic.
i actually really liked loco, i hardly ever add kpop songs to my playlist but this made the cut. it was still interesting to see your point of view though, there were a lot of things i hadn't noticed prior to watching this vid. but i do agree they could've hit a lot harder with the bridge, was kinda lackluster :/
I also really liked the song, I do feel like I am the minority. I was pretty disappointed with Not Shy and MAFIA, even though Mafia ended up growing on me. But I do feel Loco is a solid release, but it should have been released after Wannabe? With Not Shy and Mafia, I feel like JYPE tried to switch Itzy's style, but because of criticism they tried to go back to their old style with Loco. I personally really dig it, pretty catchy, the girls sell the song really well.

Not an itzy stan and when I first listened to Loco I didn’t think it was that great. I decided to check out their other title tracks and they didn’t really seem like my style. I do kinda like Mafia in the Morning and Wannabe. But then I came back to Loco again afterward and OH BOY WAS I WRONG. I became addicted to Loco. The chorus is soooo good. Also their performance is AMAZING. I’ve replayed their dance break so many times. So as a non itzy stan I think it’s a great song but it’s really interesting to see your opinion as someone who is familiar with their music. (I also agree that the 2nd verse is wayyy more interesting to listen to than the 1st)

The chorus of this song actually reminds me of the song Welcome to the Show by Brit Nicole. It's not exactly the same but both songs feel similar. The similarities are actually what made me like Loco so much on the first listen.

After Mafia In The Morning, I had higher expectations for ITZY's comeback (especially since GALAKTICA produced Wannabe and Dalla Dalla). But LOCO really fell a step back coming from the impact by Mafia In The Morning. A part of me wished they officially came back with SWIPE instead of LOCO, cause SWIPE for me was a hell of a lot catchier. And the fact that it looked like it was catering to the TikTok trend made it a lot easier to market as well.
Glad you got the idea of the video. Not a lot of reactors get it.
ITZY's LOCO chorus hands down one of the best chorus of 2021
i loved loco from first listen but now i’m like obsessed with it the chorus is just so good and lia’s and yeji’s part on the verse is so addicting…swipe was definitely a grower for me and i enjoy it a lot more now but definitely not becoming a favourite itzy song
a lot of fans complained about not having a dance break in Not Shy and MITM so they put one in here to satisfy those who were complaining about ITZY (known for insane choreo) not having a DB. You don't like it, so it just proves you can't please everyone all the time. Damned if they do damned if they don't. Dance breaks in general don't add anything musically to a song most of the time, but they are for the performance driven nature of kpop.
I kinda like more their songs when they don't have dance break, i mean, in dance practice they look dope, but like you said in musicality they don't add anything

Your criticism which starts at bout 11:12 towards the song's production is exactly the same how I feel towards Lisa's LALISA, which you really liked and praised.
From my point of view, PD criticism also based from what agency they are. ITZY from JYP tend to make their song interesting from the git go. Lisa's LALISA from YG tend to make their music swaggy, laid back, attitude based.
Thank you PD for putting many of my feelings about Loco into words! I thought that while the song was okay, Itzy always has such unique title tracks and this one feels flat in a few different parts...while their past ones felt more full. I also wish the chorus instrumental was the bridge instead of the actual bridge. Swipe really hit for me though, and the album is amazing!
When I heard mitm for the first time, I was blown away. When I heard LOCO for the first time, I was like "hmm." Now, when someone asked me what song would you like hear from the two songs, I will definitely go for LOCO.

I do agree with you about picking what's more better if Loco or their Mafia - which you chose. After the Loco came out for about a week, Mafia becomes one of their Iconic title track song ever. Though Loco is a fast-phased song in which its an Itzy title track style, it didn't get the Itzys color arrangement and self-empowered well. Their so much happening in the instrumentals but some of their vocal melody isn't right or normal just like the first pre-chorus where the vocal pitch is first high. If they did the same melody from the second pre-chorus then it will be more easy to follow as the song goes. But Mafia in the Morning is way more better than Loco in terms of catchiness and outstanding beat that makes the MITM more mafia style looking and they slayed that concept, thanks to JY Park.

I actually place LOCO in the bottom third of the album (Though it's still okay and the vid is dope). There's many better tracks on the album and I'd really love to get your opinions on the whole thing.
Swipe I put towards the top of the album, it's a bop! And I daresay it might have been a better title track as I find it stronger conceptually.
