@@startingbrandnew3055 Yup, she is. She and her business/life partner Jane Wagner have been together since 1971. In 2013, Tomlin and Wagner married in a private ceremony in Los Angeles after 42 years together.
Lily was able to indulge herself and immerse her self in playing a guy. But she walks on and every move. She makes looks like a guy move. She wasn’t fooling around at all. She’s an artist who is willing to put it out there in the most dangerous ways. And if you continue to listen, you find out just how much she poured into creating this character. Just an artist on the highest level.

So interesting: lately reading articles about how Tomlin played clubs as a known lesbian for years....while this was a sort of industry 'secret'...so refreshing that she is out and proud in her senior years---still, hearing interviews like this is a little unsettling--Just seems that the interview(s) would have gone differently if Tomlin's sexuality had been known & accepted...Damn, she's an amazing talent....
I love her! Especially from the many characters on Laugh-In. I have the album of "Ernestine", the Cheerleader and Edith Ann!!!!!!! The Richard Pryor Show and she and Jane Fonda in everything they do!
Lily is a genius. My favorite part is when Tommy first sits down, either he (or Lily) starts to instinctively cross their legs, but quickly switches to a man-spread. Story of my youth, censoring such gestures to try and appear more masculine.
Lady Gaga. At that Awards show. Anyone ‘memba? Did not realize it was a tribute to Lily as Tommy. Maybe she didn’t, either. But Gaga as a dude, and then hangin with Kanye afterward is forever burned into my brain.
In a kind of interview that wouldn't be seen on a TV talk-show today, she talks about how she pushed back against executives in a way that wouldn't be done today, for material that wouldn't be done today. This aired a few days after I graduated from college, I'm pushing 70 now.........this is one hell of a career!!! ❤
Wayne Newton has the same vocal timbre. I love this character. Never seen this one before. And a great interview with her, too. Thanks!

Lily Tomlin as Tommy Velour as Christopher Walken

The first drag king
Annie Lennox, and later Lady Gaga did incredibly realistic male characters in their concerts that surprised fans
