This was the best Lily Tomlin interview I’ve ever seen. You did a fantastic job, as always Kevin. My husband and I are thoroughly enjoying this show of yours, so much. Thank you so much for the entertainment.
How can you not love this woman. I love how her face lights up when she smiles. I noticed very few people passed them while walking. Either he picked an area with fewer people, or they had to keep cutting it out. Everyone would know it was her.
Kevin, slow down your hike! Its a pleasant hike and interview, not a life's challenge for an 80 year old. Lily is in phenomenal shape to go through this.
@@bluebellbeatnik4945 Who said, 'that older people fart more'? Such notion appears to be a figment of your imagination. 'Older people' merely become less discreet regarding this bodily function and tend to let loose more freely among polite company. Although, the lack of control could very well be connected to a general decline in health and the associated age-related maladies which contributes to the ''I just don't give a damn attitude'' that often prevails as we enter the latter stages of life.
I worked in a costume shop in NYC in the 90s. Our store had a huge selection of novelty stuff, including fake cigarettes that actually puffed fake smoke if you blew into them. They were called "Puff Puff Cigarettes". One day the phone rang and it was Lily Tomlin (her voice is very recognizable and unique) and she was in town to do a show and she needed some Puff Puff Cigarettes for that night. So I had a whole ridiculous conversation with her about Puff Puff Cigarettes and her show, and how many she would need. She was really pleasant to talk to. I had completely forgotten that until just now.
As soon as I saw her name pop up with the video it made me smile before I even played it. Great one Kevin. I had a big crush on her as a kid. I can watch All of me back to back for hours. Thank you Lily
This was just a lovely visit! I kind of hope we see both Grace and Frankie wearing those RBG t-shirts in the final season of the show. I love Lily's laugh!
That's how I recognized Scarlett Johansson at Runyon Canyon. She had big glasses but her voice was distinguishable. Same with how I recognized Frances McDormand.
Thank you, your comment is exactly what I was looking for! I 💝 Huckabees is one of my favorite all time movies!!! How am I not myself? Don't look at me! Look at me, I'm so pretty. @@tiaturnbullchampionscoachi9587 I so agree. The movie unfortunately just passes right above most peoples heads but for those who get it for what it is really getting at - they REALLY get it! This film is kind of a litmus test film for friends that will understand you are not the average bear human meat suit just as Monty Python movies are a litmus test for those who can really get absurdist humor. I DO realize saying these sounds like some sort of absurd snob elitist "I am enlightened and you don't get it" sort of thing but I find that in actuality most people who really "get" this film live a little bit more "tortured" life than those who just think the shoes come from their closet like Walberg's wife in one of the funniest scenes in the movie.
Called my stepmother who was a manager of an answering service/switchboard to exclaim ‘did you see Bella on laugh in!?!?!’ Lily had just done a perfect imitation of a lady operator who worked for her! Ernestine look-alikes were the rage for Halloween, and our local tv station did a little blurb about them. Lily is uncannily zeroed in with characters even tho uniquely hers. All of you comedians are our true treasure.
It was so nice to see Lily Tomlin lived through this interview. She did better than some people half her age. Really fun video! Thanks, Kevin and Lily!
When he asked her if she carried large amounts of money I thought Kevin was gonna jump 'er. Luckily her purse was locked away in her car trunk. I guess there's more to Kevin meets the eye. . .
Loved this! Lily remains one of my inspirations. Blessed I got to see her on stage in Boston, 1974. Brilliant! Live to 120, Lily. Big love to Lily & Jane #1!
I love Lily Tomlin! You did a great job, this was a wonderful interview (and I'm thoroughly impressed she was able to keep up with you so well on that hike!)

I love her, I just laugh at all of her jokes, she has perfect timing you might say. One of the queens of comeback jokes and one liners lol you are still killing it Kevin.
LOVE HER. That laugh is so honest, and so is she. Iconic funny woman, so witty. I DO remember watching Laugh In as a kid in the 1970's.... so damned good always and ALL WAYS. Thank you for this Kevin. And thank you Lily, you never changed, and that is so fantastic that your style was always hip still to this moment. LOVE you
My dad Loved Lily! He’d call me and always say “ is this the party to who I am speaking?” And it always sent me into fits of giggles. And he’d chuckle right along with me. Took us 10 mins to get to the subject of the call🤣🤣🤣
Another great episode. I love the scenery, especially the lakes! I appreciate Kevin‘s ability to adapt his pace and level of compassion to the guest. I hope Kevin never retires!!! If you love “comedians in cars…, between two ferns, Jiminy Glick, and Conan”- you will love this show too!
It's Jan. 4th 2021 and miss your weekly shows so much ! Hope that you'll find another way of show-casing your guest . You have a knack for talking story with them & letting the humor flow . Malama pono, Kevin .
What a Classic! They don't make them like they used to. The "Homegirl" hat and the "R.B.G." shirt says it all. Tomlin is a great example of what America used to have on offer and how great we all could (and should) be today. It is a pleasure to hear her on this candid hike.
I just rewatched 9 to 5 thanks to your podcast Kevin. I thought I knew that movie but so many things seemed new. Please have Lily Tomlin on again, even if your hike is pushing her in a wheelchair!
Her Netflix feels like the second coming of Jesus...great to see amazing comedic actress like Tomlin and Fonda in their "Golden Pond years" still killing it!!
Love Lily in the club scene from Nashville when she realizes Keith Carradine is singing to her. She doesn't say a word but conveys her emotions entirely thru her expression. Brilliant acting.
WOW What a wonderful experience, to be able to go hiking with Lily Tomlin and having a great conversation with her. I have always enjoyed Lily Tomlin very much over the years. It seems like I remember hearing her talking about in an interview about a possible remake or something with 9to5, I hope so, I will definitely be going to see it if they do🤞 Great Video, You're definitely a lucky guy to be able to spend time with her like that and as well as she appeared to be doing on that hike at 80 years old, I'm guessing that she has a good chance of making it to 120, I definitely hope so🤞🙂
I actually got to meet her in the early eighties when she and her cousin came and sat in my section at a restaurant where I worked. (He had been a classmate of mine in HS.) She was really fun and natural to chat to as I went fro delivering their food, etc. She also did her one woman show another time she was in town. Great lady!
The last scene of “all of me”with her dancing in that beautiful 1930’s ivory dress on that checkered floor with Steve somehow implanted itself in my five year Old brain. When I think about that scene, a feeling of pure joy fills me.
LOL, this interview sparked an old memory of her talking about glamour smoking When Lily was performing in Laugh-in I was in the studio audience and she did a comedy bit of her puffing a large cigar. The first time I had ever seen a women smoke a cigar. It may have been just for the "bit" but she sure seemed to be experienced in the glamour art of the cigar.
Good show. The hiking format works great. A celebrity can potentially forget it's a globally broadcast interview and feel like they're just walking with an industry friend. PS caught your acting on a sitcom and was truly impressed with your acting, Mr. Nealon. I had only known you from snl and hadn't known you were 10/10 in acting a role. Kudos.
ACTUALLY, her name really was TOMLINSON back in the day, or the family changed it, I can't remember which. JOHNNY was saying, 'My family had a TomlinSON in it, similar name' or whatall, and LILY piped up and said 'OUR NAME USED TO BE, TOMLINSON!' and I recall thinking 'MAYBE Johnny and Lily ARE related in some way, as there are similarities in the skinny face and droll humor and old English or Scott's Irish MidWesterners?!'
