My 18 HP Duromax came with electric start but no instructions on the wiring the control panel is easy to figure out but the wiring is a puzzle to me! Am considering asking duromax for help
Just unboxed my exact same engine & it has the same damage to the fuel tank! Maybe they need to modify their boxes for shipping if this routinely happens !
Well it was a no brainer back when i bought mine, it was $289.99. As of may 2019 the xp18hp is going for $379 and the 16hp is $349. Now your question is good, ive heard that the xp18hp is just a cammed 16hp. Ive been happy with my "18hp" and have had the sears garden tractor buried to the transaxel hooked to another stuck tractor and the motor didn't bog! But as for the $100 jump in price id want a complete engine. I had to pull all that to make it fit on my tractor so i wasn't to bent out shape. Thanks for taking time to comment. Have a great day!

how has it held up I'm looking to buy one but don't know much about it and haven't heard much about them either. is Their any issues with the functionality of it
+Ryan Schiavo well it's started and ran like a champ no problem, until I modified the exhaust. Now it pops and runs lean I'll need to jet the carb. If you keep it stock you will not have that problem. Walmart had them cheap shipped site to store. Thanks for the comment

+Frank C well Frank I'd say it will fit in any go-kart if you know how to fabricate a lil. Go to a local harbor freight, and pull tape on a 420 height/width and bolt pattern and this motor will be very close. As to a definite answer, IDK. It's a bargain and runs good until you change the exhaust system. Hope that helps
Well when it comes to your life i have to say no, but anythings possible with some fabrication. Its kinda heavy and it 4-stroke. Id suggest a lighter 2-stroke motor for your application.
+John Smith if I remember correct it 390cc? Word or advice, after I modified the exhaust, it dosent run the best at low idel, needs jets now with less back pressure. But overall starts by 3 pulls every time and has power! At least for my Sears, it's low geared. Thanks for the comment.
No, its got a washer in for back pressure, and a baffle in the tip but it will need a bigger jet on the carb if you modify the exhaust, mine runs ruff now, but always starts in 1-3 pulls summer-winter!
+Chandler Johnson yes you can change it, as ive done but you will need to possibly re-jet the carb, or adjust it to compensate for loss of back pressure.

Its been a ripper! Still starts in 3 pulls in winter. I modified my exhaust and it needs a bigger jet. Ran lean all these years and still kicks.
I have a 18 hp electric start I used for a golf cart it runs good. I did not use the tank if you still nead one.

I got an 18 and 3 - 7's on generators here in Alaska. My neighbor has a 7 on a dirt bike. All start 1'st or 2'nd pull at 30 below
I still love mine its a work horse!

Oh ya! Just went on an epic romp tonight and had it in 15"-20" of mud, doing 3rd gear drops like a champ, stay tuned for the video.
