seeing you have THIS MUCH FUN, and just hearing your reactions as you perform the effects is one of the most inspiring things out there man. Killer work.
This thing seemed sort of vanilla at a glance, but it quickly proved itself to be the type of delay unit you get a massive amount of mileage out of. Nicely curated to be incredibly useful with a minimum of fuss. That's my opinion at least. 😆
Yeah the clean panel design is almost misleading! It's characterful as F. (To be fair it _can_ also do clean delays if you feel the VCF up and Colour down, on Digi Mode)
I love the acoustic changes that actual fog brings to the sounds of the out of doors and this is a fine reminder to add this kind of soft, diffuse reverb to lots of things. Yum!
I've had Magneto on my wish list for a while now. I'd love to see some discussion of how Magneto and Sealegs compare to each other, even if they're kind of apples and oranges.
Looks and sounds fantastic. I love Magneto but am frustrated that the tape crinkle can’t be modulated, just manually controlled. This appears to scratch that itch.
Woulda been nice if mod was default routed to all parameters and then the attenuverter pots controlled the amount of the default modulation. Instead of just routing to time. Then you could modate everything with just the built in mod and if another modulation source was plugged in to any of those inputs it would break the normal.
You had me at aaaaargh! I know it'll be hard to compare, but where/how do you position the Rainmaker vs Sealegs... perhaps it's silly question, just wanted to hear your opinion. I'll get me coat....
Basically Rainmaker is like a studio laboratory of delays, filters, pitchshifters and comb filter insanity - it’s a studio tool in that you’re gonna spend ages exploring settings and trying out weird things, and then it’s going to turn your signals into absolutely incomprehensible insanity or clouds of angels, and you’ll save that as a preset - whereas Sealegs is about quickfire access to deeply satisfying classic vintage delay vibes, what a 101 is to synths this is to delay is perhaps one way of thinking about it?! Id definitely prefer to have Sealegs in a live case - although I actually HAVE used rainmaker live a lot, but just pulling presets out!
33:52 has autechre LP5 vibes... how did you get that sound? It sounds vaguely FM-ish, but aliased and crunchy sounding... wavetable oscillator or something? edit: I mean the input synth sound, not the FX
@@mylarmelodies ah, no prob lol. It was months ago. I guess it was probably a pretty simple PWM patch then, and sealegs was doing more work than I thought!

Based purely on this demo (I obviously have not yet tried it myself), I'm not a fan of the digital model on this. The good vintage digital delay rack units had digital crunch, but they didn't have aliasing because they had filters for rolling off higher frequencies. Everyone's got their taste and not everything needs to sound faithful of course, but I'm in the "digital crunch without aliasing" camp.
