      None of this was ever based on 1 or 2 good TV rating years FSU and Clemson have based their entire argument on what they've brought in over the course of around a decade and a half Miami can have 1 great season they could win it all and have the most watched team in the country but a single season isn't enough to draw interest from the SEC or B1G and does nothing to FSU and Clemson

    Do you think that the Big 12 and the ACC will pull together and create another super conference? There would need to be a Football Tier A and a Basketball Tier A. Clearly, both conferences have enough firepower to compete as a group... I say that because nobody focuses on the bottom half teams of the SEC of BiG.

    • @caseydangar4414
      @caseydangar4414 9 дней назад +3

      The acc and b12 could join and still not constitute them being called a power conference. There is only 2 power conferences now and it's the sec and big10. Nobody in the acc or big12 can ever compete with the top schools in those 2 conferences. Uga, bama, Texas, and Tennessee all would destroy the big12 and acc top teams. And then the middle tier sec teams would win 90% of games vs those 2 conferences. The big10 has several schools that the big12 and acc just can't compete with also. Its just a hard place to be in for fsu and clemson because you have decent viewership but its been a long time since either program has been any threat to the top sec programs or the big10 and its not gonna happen for much longer now. Even is fsu was let in the playoffs last year, they were going to get soundly handled even with Jordan Travis at qb. Georgias 3rd string was demolishing fsu.

  • @observer46-vh5bm
    @observer46-vh5bm 10 дней назад +2

    2030 is also when the current B1G contracts end, so any new teams would be part of that conversation. That actually makes it much easier for the B1G to add new teams at that point. Yes, FSU has to right its ship, if for no other reason than to keep TV viewership numbers very high. 8=4 seasons and dropping TV ratings would be very bad.
    As Doug knows, there is no way to be certain of a landing spot, since the B1G or SEC would be sued in a second if they in some way promised FSU or Clemson anything. Right now both of those schools are under binding contracts and no league wants to get sued over interfering with that contract.

      This settlement is a L, no matter how you slice it. It accomplishes nothing long term. Short term it is temporary wet bandaid on a gaping wound.
      One of three things have happened for FSU to agree to settle.
      1.) They figured there is no way out of the GOR.
      2.) They don’t have a spot in the big 2, as they originally calculated.
      3.) Both.

      @SS-qu9nn I think biggest reason is no landing spot at this time. The lions have of the BIG 10 president's said they would only vote to admit them if they were AAU. That, at this point, is the hangup. Even if they were approved this year over USF, it would still take 2 years or a little more for that classification. The ACC also saw their cash cow disappearing and even as bad as this team is, they still produce viewers. Don't think for one second that this is just a settlement on FSU's part. Them leaving means as much or more for the ACC also.

Also the ACC constitution is set up in such away that FSU would always be at the mercy of many private schools. 4) The current media partner has no incentive to properly and publicly promote the brand due to the fact that too many schools are not a financial value add for that partner to do that for this conference.5) Lastly, when the new TV contracts for the SEC and B10 arrive, will the ACC ever be able to keep pace? First it’s extending GOR to 2030 because, as you e reported, if GOR is coextensive with the ESPN deal, the GOR expires in 2026 when ESPN contract expires. ESPN may not renew with threat of conference departures. Second, we are not saving $200million in exit fees. You still will have to pay an exit fee when we leave in 2030. And the fee may be even bigger in 2030 if the fee is based on the percentage of the ACC budget. Finally, we’re stuck in a conference that likely is paying its premier program less money than Northwestern makes. This is unacceptable to the core.
