I say sign the agreement if it ends grant of Rights in 2030. Use the money you were gonna give to ACC to exit to self fund yourself until 2030 to even surpass SEC/B1G money.
It would be a sign that FSU wants to be a good partner to the B1G by staying ACC until 2030.whose media deal expires in 2029. Let the B1G integrate its new west coast members and figure out if it wants to go back to divisions and a semi conference football playoffs. Notre Dame also expires in 2029 so the B1G could open for another 4 school expansion.
Get out in 2027 and 60 million. For every year after 2027, the acc wants us to stay add 10 million. Espn needs us to stay in the acc to secure their long term investment. Espn is having money problems because of their viewership model. Make absolutely sure the negotiated agreement is explicitly defined on every detail before signing.
This conference is weak, FSU should just stay and be one of the bullies on da block and try to make the playoffs every year, they'd earn more money that way and keep alumni happy 😊
Rumor from a good source has it that the ACC is filing a major lawsuit against FSU tomorrow in Federal Court. reason is the last 3 FSU games has made the ACC look really bad and damaged the ACC,
Objectives were: 1. F the ACC 2. Get into a Power 2 conference 3. Make as much or more money from TV as do the schools like UF do with whom we compete. This does not accomplish objective 1 or 2 and remains to be seen on objective 3 but it looks doubtful. Whats the point of minimizing the exit fee if you don't leave and make it possible for ESPN to extend and pretend.
💯. This settlement is a L, no matter how you slice it. It accomplishes nothing long term. Short term it is temporary wet bandaid on a gaping wound. One of three things have happened for FSU to agree to settle. 1.) They figured there is no way out of the GOR. 2.) They don’t have a spot in the big 2, as they originally calculated. 3.) Both. Every other explanation is just cope IMO.
@SS-qu9nn I think biggest reason is no landing spot at this time. The lions have of the BIG 10 president's said they would only vote to admit them if they were AAU. That, at this point, is the hangup. Even if they were approved this year over USF, it would still take 2 years or a little more for that classification. The ACC also saw their cash cow disappearing and even as bad as this team is, they still produce viewers. Don't think for one second that this is just a settlement on FSU's part. Them leaving means as much or more for the ACC also.
@@LoneWolfeServices I agree, that makes sense. As Miami fan, I was hoping FSU and Clemson would be able to break the ridiculous GOR, so Miami could leave as well. That ACC TV deal is an albatross around the neck of every ACC school, especially the three or four that people tune in to watch. We need to get out ASAP or FSU, Miami and Clemson are not going to be able to compete with the schools in the big 2 conferences from a financial perspective. Guess we don’t have a choice in the matter until 2030 at the earliest but I wish they would just dissolve the ACC already.
I don't know about 2028? The attorney here even made reference to Texas & Oklahoma leaving the Big-12 a year early. Yormark had to agree to a cash settlement for Texas & Oklahoma to be released that year early. The previous Big-12 commissioner would have not agreed to that. Now talking about two years for FSU. Is James Phillips ever going to agree to that? I don't think a new ACC commissioner would agree. I think FSU would be in the ACC until 2030.
@@adam6072 The art of moving the goal posts and resetting expectations. LOL! What happened to this idea that there was an existing handshake deal with the B1G? Honestly I just want FSU to have the money to compete at the highest level & I really don’t count where or how we get it. An elatedly funded FSU program makes for an ELITE CFB Power
This. The bottom feeders of the P2 will have more resources than any fully committed program in the ACC. If they can restructure so fully committed teams are able to compete and not get financially dwarfed by the likes of Vandy and Illinois then ACC is a good enough home.
@@7empest376 long term yes, since eating the Big East, the ACC always seems to be reacting (poorly) to the ever-changing landscape of college football, rather than being being proactive. However, looking to catch the wave of 2030, we want the most money possible until then and not still fighting appeals in court.
A couple of points. 1: FSU will have extra time to get their academics up to where the Big 10 can take them without a partner like Miami or a Georgia Tech. 1a: FSU has more time to secure AAU membership. 2: A GOR ending in 2030 puts FSU closer to the expiration date of the Big 10/Fox contract, so if they join it will be closer to being a full share member.
B10 doesn’t want FSU. B10 wants ND, probably Miami if they move into Florida. FSU clowns have been making crap up for the last year trying to cry their way out of the ACC
Big10 not taking FSU bum asses absolutely not dog shit team in a dog shit television market what the fuck is in Tallahassee Miami maybe because it’s fucking Miami and a huge television market
I don’t recommend accepting the agreement. 1) FSU has stated this conference has misled them, so why continue business with that kind of partner. 2) This conference hasn’t enthusiastically or willfully promoted its brands, thus costing millions for the members over the decades. 3) It knee caps the legal argument FSU has made. Also the ACC constitution is set up in such away that FSU would always be at the mercy of many private schools. 4) The current media partner has no incentive to properly and publicly promote the brand due to the fact that too many schools are not a financial value add for that partner to do that for this conference.5) Lastly, when the new TV contracts for the SEC and B10 arrive, will the ACC ever be able to keep pace? I think not.
FSU was not misled, and they know it, just a bullcrap argument to get out of the ACC on the cheap. I don't want to hear anything about not being supported coming from the crybabies at FSU. FSU has spent the last 2 years trying to destroy the ACC, without giving two cents of worth or thought for the league's other members. I will never and neither should any ACC member give a dang about FSU and should always laugh at its failure. They could have left like men and paid their way out, but they choose to be punks and try to burn the league down. I don't know how the new football consolidation in 2030 ultimately looks like, but I hope my Tarheels are far removed from FSU and its disgraceful reputation.
I want us to stay now. Save the 300 to 400 million and use it to effectively give ourselves an extra 40 to 50 million a year until it’s over in 2030. This would get us to SEC level, maybe even above it.
I don’t like this at all. It’s not a win for FSU. First it’s extending GOR to 2030 because, as you e reported, if GOR is coextensive with the ESPN deal, the GOR expires in 2026 when ESPN contract expires. ESPN may not renew with threat of conference departures. Second, we are not saving $200million in exit fees. You still will have to pay an exit fee when we leave in 2030. And the fee may be even bigger in 2030 if the fee is based on the percentage of the ACC budget. Finally, we’re stuck in a conference that likely is paying its premier program less money than Northwestern makes. This is unacceptable to the core.
You are also forgetting that there is a “Winning initiative” where the top 2 teams/conference champions get a bonus. So if FSU or Clemson can actually win games, they can exceed SEC and Big 10 payouts. It’s a win for both sides.
That's a lie. B1G and SEC teams already get more playoff money. Since they're larger conferences, they'll have more teams in March Madness getting more money there. And since they're larger conferences, they also get more bowl money. And unlike the SEC, the B1G actually owns 40% of the Big Ten Network and ratings are up 168% so far. They control what they charge advertisers year to year on ad rates.
@@vistatiger7493 Last year if realignment was in place, the SEC would've had 9 teams, B1G would've had 7, and the ACC 5. SMU, Cal, and Stanford have never been basketball powers. Sadly Jim Phillips put us at a disadvantage with the CFP when he accepted less ACC payout than the B1G and SEC. Clemson represented the ACC in 6 of the playoffs plus ND's appearance in 2020 when they were football members that year. I believe that's more appearances than the B1G had during that run. All the ACC got for it was a lot less than the SEC and B1G and 1m more than the Big 12 with the new CFP contract.
Performance based are workable incentives that could and may likely get enough support to be ratified by the members. These can be as simple as $5MM for conference champ. game $5MM for ACC champ. $10MM for being in the playoffs $10MM for each playoff victory. $500thousand for each week in the AP top 25 This would give all teams weekly incentives for being ranked and further give champions and playoff teams a min. bonus of $10MM ACC champ. $15-20MM getting to the final game $35MM win the nat champ $45-50MM. However all performance based incentives are a double edged sword in that if team does not make playoffs no $$$ . Ray

FSU is dumb if they stay. The money doesn’t make sense and the whole point of leaving is if you don’t win the conference it’s hard to get into the playoffs. The acc is not looked at as a power conference. Leave now. Period. Screw the rework.
That current FSU team isn't sniffing the playoffs in any conference much less the SEC or Big10
FSU will get nothing done and go absolutely nowhere beyond the ACC, which was the whole purpose of these legal efforts to begin with. I don’t see any other program in the country settling like Florida State enjoys, settling for less talent for less TV time against lesser opponents.
😂😂😂
WTF are you talking about? This is essentially the ACC halfway waving the white flag and saying "please don't leave! We'll pay you your fair share" lmfao 🤣 😂
LOL. Ask the B12 how well unequal revenue sharing worked for them. This is FSU and Clemson realizing neither the SEC or the B10 really want them

The good part is it will be much easier to get into the playoff in the ACC... IF we can start recruiting and get back on track.

So why should FSU got a bigger chunk of the pie than any other they have 1 national championship in the last 24 years and with their record now the other ACC teams are probably just laughing
This. and Karma is a bitch. FSU sues the ACC and then loses its first 3 games. FSU had better stay in the ACC and hope they return winning like Bobby Had them winning. FSU is my second favorite team and right now FSU is the laughing stock of the college football world. Clemson isnt far behind.
I say sign the agreement if it ends grant of Rights in 2030. Use the money you were gonna give to ACC to exit to self fund yourself until 2030 to even surpass SEC/B1G money.
It would be a sign that FSU wants to be a good partner to the B1G by staying ACC

go back to divisions and a semi conference football playoffs. Notre Dame also expires in 2029 so the B1G could open for another
4 school expansion.
Get out in 2027 and 60 million. For every year after 2027, the acc wants us to stay add 10 million. Espn needs us to stay in the acc to secure their long term investment. It's a really tough decision. The money saved would be huge but being in the acc kills for recruiting. Not like we recruit well anyways but still.
Objectives were:
1. F the ACC
2. Get into a Power 2 conference
@@LoneWolfeServices
I agree, that makes sense.

FSU is taking so many Ls this year. All of this just to stay in the ACC through 2030?
2030 is not that long away. Plus, FSU will probably be an AAU by then.

The bottom feeders of the P2 will have more resources than any fully committed program in the ACC. If they can restructure so fully committed teams are able to compete and not get financially dwarfed by the likes of Vandy and Illinois then ACC is a good enough home.

Nope, get out. Both ESPN and the ACC treat FSU terribly.
I want us to stay now. Save the 300 to 400 million and use it to effectively give ourselves an extra 40 to 50 million a year until it’s over in 2030. This would get us to SEC level, maybe even above it.
Definitely not the big 10 or sec 😂 they made that clear
FSU adds great value to any conference. It has long term value beyond this year. GO TIGERS!!!!!
I'd hire Doug in a heart beat! Very knowledgeable!
So we’re settling for Vanderbilt status. GREAT!
Vanderbilt actually won a game against an ACC opponent.
if this is proposed by the ACC, fsu should ask gor til 2025. and see them squirm.
You are also forgetting that there is a “Winning initiative” where the top 2 teams/conference champions get a bonus. So if FSU or Clemson can actually win games, they can exceed SEC and Big 10 payouts. It’s a win for both sides.
Not with the agenda of SEC/B1G breaking away from the NCAA for football.
@@heartbreak25 Agree except for the March Madness stuff. The ACC has as many teams as the B1G with 18 teams (17 teams plus ND in basketball).

Not based on fact but ok 😂🤡
Ray

With unequal revenue sharing, that means FSU will just watch Miami collect all the money.
Miami doesn't have the viewership numbers. This is about ESPN protecting the primetime time slots that are available to the ACC. Clemson and FSU traditionally fills those slots. Miami has never been able to fill a marquee slot without FSU or Clemson's name being attached to it.
