  • This is my first time heavy towing with a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trail Boss and I must say, don't let the squat fool you...
Special Thanks to Fitzgerald Auto Mall in Frederick, MD for allowing me to do this test!

Pro tip: when you are getting close to the ball, hit the camera button again and it will zoom in. More importantly it automatically puts the park brake on when you shift into park so it doesn’t roll back on you

Definitely need a weight distribution hitch!

Is this the 5.3 or 6.2?

I’ve got a 2020 trail boss custom. Stock it has a 2” lift and mine squats about 3” with weight distribution on a 27 ft travel trailer at 7,000lbs. I’m really pushing the limits of that truck and it’s doing great.

You're squatting that much because you need to balance your trailer weight better

I would be curious to see a silvarado with the little 4 cylinder turbo tow that load. The torque is not off from the 5.3.

Like these videos but let's be honest most half ton guys towing will be using a WDH. I just don't see the point in hooking up half tons and then commenting about how much they are squatting.

I watched your tundra tow video I actually really like how unbiased you seem towards different makes, most truck guys come off biased one way or another, super refreshing to find you aren’t that way on your channel, great content👍🏻

Wondering if you added a gooseneck hitch how that would change the towing and everything

Insightful, informative, personable, well done! Liking these types of videos. The feedback and reactions are honest and unbiased. Keep up the good work man. Glad to see the 5.3 do ok. I have never towed anything with mine but knowing it can do it is great.

That is a beautiful truck. I just picked up my '22 Trail Boss. Same color. Sexy machine.

awesome video. I am in the market for a new truck and the trail boss is on the top of my list right. towing is one of the the things I've been looking and this video has really helped in the decision process

Glad to see you're using real trucks with some milage and age on them not brand new pre-production models like those other big channels

Especially appreciate your reviews of trucks with some miles on them. The one you did with a Duramax having 200K miles was great also. Not all of us can buy a brand-new truck. I am trying to decide what to upgrade my tow vehicle to. I have a 2001 GMC Sierra with the 5.3L pulling an 8,000-pound travel trailer in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Even though it has 270,000 miles it still pulls very well with the exception of nearing the 11,000-foot passes. At those altitudes, it is in first gear (out of 4), working hard, and engine temp is warming (not hot). I am considering the GMC 6.2L max trailering package 1500 with 3.42 differential or an LML Duramax in the HD size. The 6.2L has an 8-speed tranny, which is very appealing, but it would lose about 1/3 horsepower at 11,000 feet just like any naturally aspirated engine. I only go camping about 3 times a year so, I am not sure the LML Duramax is justified. The 6.2L max trailering vehicles are extremely hard to find though.

I like how you test used vehicles. All other car testers review new vehicles. A lot of people buy used trucks and it's good to see how they hold up with some miles on them. 👍🏻
