My Mom took me to see Dusty and The Road Warriors over 20 times here in Philthy till she passed 11/30/89. By then Dusty was gone my Dad took me Drc 89 I saw the Warriors one last time....just wasn't the same, was not his thing, but loved him for it. I got to see shit when it was really something 85-88 mostly. I was lucky....
If wrestling was still like this id still watch it, the new stuff is just unwatchable for me. Growing up i was obsessed with wrestling, I remember watching Georgia Championship Wrestling on TV at my grandparents house. I lived in Atlanta for a couple year's as a kid and sat on the floor 3 rows back from ringside for Starcade 89 future shock at the Omni. As an 8 year old kid it was almost surreal.
Mr. Wrestling 2's promo is reminiscent of Nick Bockwinkel. As I was watching, I was thinking: "Why is that cadence and delivery so familiar?" Never noticed until just now. . .
This Is About 4 Years Before The Hulkster Became The WWF Champ 🏆 When He Defeated The Iron Shiek And The Rest ......Is What They Call 'History' And A Lil Thing They Called 'HulkMania' 💯💪🏆💵💰🇺🇸
12/25/1980 ( GCW ) Atlanta Georgia Omni Coliseum: NWA Georgia Heavyweight Title Match: Tony Atlas ( Champion 10//24/1980 - ?/??/1981 ) defeated Kevin Sullivan ( NWA National Television Champion 11/29/1980- 1/16/1981 )
I remembered ted disease and Robert fuller. They were tag-team partners They had history against the freebirds .The freebirds was a tough group and they were dangerous
Mr wrestling no#2 was my favorite. He had a cool demeanor. I remembered mr wrestling no #2 he had history with the Mongolian stomper. The Mongolian stomper was a brute and dangerous in the ring.
Yeah but the people who didn’t have cable, satellite tv, or followed the wrestling fan mags(the vast majority )didn’t know that and that was the genius of it 😊
Terry Gordy was sooooo great. The agility he had for that size....if there were 2 guys that should have held Flair's belt..... regardless the leuit was Bam Bam and baby face Barry Whindham. Making him a 🐴 KILLED his career, held him back. Ronnie Garvin....dude with an illegal specialty move.....nah, that was Bullsh.
Freddie Blassie: said Brain scrambled and GOOFY about Andre... 🤣 🤣 i hear the word goofy so much in 2024! The legend of Freddie Blassie lives on in 2024! Going through your catelog of territories.. this ones a classic! 💪
Gordon was the absolute best....he gave wrestling and the best ever magazine PWI ....a respectable name.....and Lance be a close #2. Kind of like Peter Jennings and Walter Cronkite appeal and importance. WWF always was corny except when Gorilla was on the mic with Jesse. These clowns the past 30 years. Jim Ross was great until he believed his own ego.
He most definitely would have been happy to have a Lifetime NOMAAM membership! Oh, the zingers he would have inflicted on Bud, Steve and Marcy... not to mention the plumper ladies at the shoe store...

Mr. Wrestling 2. Devil Blue (1985). Coincidence?....
Cool to see Blassie outside the WWF. It's too bad little footage exists of his prime years in California.
I remember seeing him in California back in the early 70s.
Blassie was a big star in Georgia at one time.
Multiple time Georgia champion in the 1950's

That's right, children! We gonna be gettin' funky like a monkey in 1981!
Steve Kerin and Tony Atlas are tag team partners, love this period of wrestling.
And The Million Dollar Man doing Babyface. That 30 grand must have been what got him started on the road to Heel Legend
I like cross promotion like this one. great stuff, Blassie in GCW.
Interesting to see the Hollywood fashion Plate on GCW

Freddy blassie looks very mad as if he wants to get back into the ring and fight anyone he sees.
That WWF footage was from BEFORE September 1980 because Hulk and Andre had their big blowoff match at Shea Stadium the month prior.
