I was born in Handsworth, Sheffield in 1949; Thank you for this excellent video, but I don't think Sheffield has changed for the best looking at it today.
The Spooner Road clip made me think. How many of the men in that picture later found themselves in the Pals Battalion training up at Redmires before going to the trenches in France, many never to return.
@@richardnewall8909 No never Facebook. I tend to comb through Wikimedia Commons, Geograph, or Flickr when sourcing - finding the correct authorship using Social Media is a whole can of worms I daren't open!
Yet another city they have ruined ! Your videos are excellent, we really love them but it makes us so sad to see how progress destroys so much beauty of Victorian architecture! Please keep up the good work! I liked the style of this one covering such a wide view of Shefield 👍
Great compilation! I did wonder why so many of the 'modern' pictures are at least a decade old, did you have trouble securing the rights for more recent ones?
With 84 councillor's youd wonder why Sheffield has become a 3rd. rate city like Rotherham. What I've seen of it lately it's a disgusting place. It makes you wonder how many of our councillor's actually live in Sheffield . Someone please let me know .
Hi I know where you come from but Rotherham is dying on its feet, it's always a bad sign when they shut a Wetherspoons in a town or city but they closed two in Rotherham ? Every time we visit more shops have closed. I hope Sheffield does not get as bad !
Hmm I live in Rotherham and it's terrible and empty at times but Sheffield is becoming much better I think. I did a big walk around the city last month. I walked from division Street down west Street, down behind the cathedral, paradise square, up high Street, up fargate, past crucible, through peace gardens, up to city hall and to Devonshire green I thought it had come on from what it was 10 years ago. Fairly clean. Only saw two piss heads, modern buildings, pedestrian areas and out door cafés and bars. Yeah not as great as it was in the early 1900s but third rate and comparing it with Rotherham is harsh. I've lived in Leeds and Nottingham and they aren't all that imo either.
A creative portrayal of the history of Sheffield, very good.
Very enjoyable and informative

Was surprised to see my pic of the Town Hall at 4:00 ..thanks for the name check
Thanks for taking it! It perfectly transitions to the earlier image.
@The Time Travel Artist where did you get it from ? Facebook I assume ?

I used creative commons images in some cases using photos that more closely matched as the recent ones were in the wrong position/ angles!
Love that 👍
very nice. thank you.
"Now" thoroughly trounced by "Then" ...in almost every instance!
3:12 2015 was 6 years ago but now it’s 9 years ago and 8 years ago

Amazing video... those beautiful architectures are being replaced by those ugly looking buildings. The odd ones are better.

10 to 12 years ago Sheffield was peaceful the people are nice the city centre was safe but since the council took over things are going down hill
