Hello friends! 🙋 Welcome back to the channel. Leave here in the comments what you thought of this video and which country you are watching us from! 🙏💝🚀
To start with, there was nothing wrong with the drill in the first place, it only had minor leading edge damage. As far as you 'sharpening', that is as wrong as it could be. You have made the chisel point angle wrong (and not symmetric) . There is no back rake on the leading edge and no relief angle for that. As far as it cutting after you 'sharpened' it, anything will cut if you push hard enough. Before you make a video about something, learn how to do it. Furthermore, just learn how to sharpen one by hand and stop wasting time making stupid fixtures that are not even correct.
If this helps you sharpen drill bits, go for it. However remember the only way any drill bill works is for a very sharp edge followed by a taper off behind the edge of the bit to allow for the edge to cut. I sharpen them free hand that way and they always cut remarkably afterwards... Thumbs Up!
Many years ago I inherited from my father's shop a Craftsman bit sharpener that's kind of a more versatile version of this clever jig. I don't think it's still available in that brand, but General Tools still has one. When I was a kid (1950s-60s), that type seemed to be ubiquitous, and I don't remember any other sharpeners being available. But mine worked pretty well, and other than a specialty sharpener or two (and sometimes working by hand), it's is the only one I've ever used. (A friend of mine who had the General Tool version told me that mine was beefier and more stable.) But dang, there are a lot of bit sharpeners on the market these days. I'm guessing that some of them work pretty well. I think sometimes buying a tool can be simpler and better than making one. Cheers.
Fair enough your making content ,but I would say that the ordinary Joe would not be able to make the jig in the first place ,so if you need to resharpen drills befriend an old engineer and ask them to teach you correctly it takes a log time to learn the techniques there are several different ways of sharpening the drill bit but best results are achieved using a bench grinder or offhand grinder not a disc grinder with a soft wheel or flap wheel .Its like any other skill it takes time learning ,another thing is using the drill bit correctly do not try and drill a hole using the large drill bit you showed start with a centre punch mark then drill first hole 3 or 4 mm diameter then open out to maybe 6 or 8 mm then the 10mm or larger, hole drilling needs to be done in increments you will get better results and a better tolerance hole and better shape hole. Although I have seen on some of these American RUclips fabrication channels Robbie Layton ,Tom Toms shop they have been promoting the k nut or cut drill bits which are stepped but once they are blunt it’s a tool grinding shop sharpening job.i guess they have taken the silver shilling on them as they seem to promote them every given opportunity

I'm not bragging but I sharpened my drill bits with my grinder and ah pulse and they fit me well without so much drama.
🙏🙏💝💪
Yeah me too. One minute of this video told me not to waste my time watching. Your comment confirms my suspicion.

Disse tudo. Não deixou a parte de trás da broca no grau certo.
Its not sharp! A sharp drill produces swarf not chips
Thanks for watching and leaving your feedback! I wish you a great day 🙏🚀💝
some relief behind the cutting edge would improve this.
I think swarf production is more related to pressure
Well, not perfect but helpful to a certain extent. Thanks 👍
Buen video estimado salufos de uruguay genio

I’ve hand sharpened drills for decades. This is too slow and works for one size only. Many instructions are out there.
🫡🙏💝🚀
You would have to make that gig for every size drill bit !
🙏🙏💝💪
You mean Jig
Hola! Te escribo desde la Argentina Muy interesante la técnica, si podrías decirme a cuantos grados es el angulo del filo ?

Nice job, but now I know why your drill bits get dull....😂😂😂 no oil.🤔😊

No lube and high rpm ... fast way to burn up a drill bit
@@LoneWolfArtist Lone Wolf knows how it's done right...bravo!
Excelente idea, y fácil,,, desde Venezuela 👍,,, saludos

A lot of work to screw up a drill bit using all the wrong tools along the way. I feel broken now. 😮

Funciona para brocas grandes se afilan facil pero con broca de pequeñas no sirve hay que afilar a mano a la antigua

Desde Venezuela que bien

You never said what degrees of angle for the bit

Nice 👍
🙏🙏💝🚀
the best way to get a really sharp drill bit is to go to a store and get a new one 🤣
a new drill is really better, but this way of sharpening works really well 🤠❤️💝🙏
