    Very well done Dave. The thing I like the most of how you did it is you left that 16 to 18 inch space at the bottom and maybe you didn’t know it but it’s in the building code to leave that space in paces with very cold winter climate. What it does is it lets heat escape so the cold going down from outside in the earth can’t freeze the footing and lift and break it. That would be very bad. That happens to me on a forty year old house with perfect basement walls and footing and maybe I will make a winter video of this and tell all the story…..CHEERS

    Great job Dave!! I did my basement the very same way a few years back! I got a spray foam company to do the sill plate. The efficiency company that tested my house said you can lose up to 30% of your heat from the basement cheers and well done !

    FINALLY!!!!!!!! I get to watch your excellent video. I don't know if they have this in Quebec but in Ontario, we sell this insulation at country fairs. We call it cotton candy. But we use the pink insulation to make it. I'm not too fond of it because it makes my mouth itchy. Wow, your basement will be super cozy this upcoming Canadian winter! Now I'm off to watch your new video!!!

    I would use foam or foam board insulation, especially at the bottom where it is more likely to be in contact with water/moisture.

    • @RCAFpolarexpress
      @RCAFpolarexpress  23 дня назад +1

      Good Evening Sir, The problem doing that up here is the frost line is almost reaching the base foundation and it need a little bit of heat to keep the foundation not getting frosted and damage it. However, my basement is so very well drain and also the soil and the French drain keep it dry. I have to mention the my foundation concrete wall is double tickness of a normal concrete wall. thank you very kindly and be well Sir Cheers 🍻🍻

    Nicely done Dave. You’ll be snug as bug in a rug 🤭🤭
    Just wondering if you should secure that bottom row of insulation so it does not slide downward. 🤔
    I’m not knowledgeable in insulation installation, so that’s why I ask.
    Hopefully your event Saturday and Sunday went well and you did not get rained on too much on Sunday.
    Have a good week. 🇨🇦🇨🇦

    Well done Dave 👍🏻. This is maybe a stupid question but by splitting the insulation in half mean you went from R-20 to R-10? 🥴. Retirement ???? 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😂 Bon dimanche et bonne semaine Dave 🙋🏼‍♂👍🏻☕

    • @RCAFpolarexpress
      @RCAFpolarexpress  4 месяца назад +2

      Bonsoir Mon Ami Luc, Their is no stupid question only stupid answer mon ami 😉 Actually it do drop a little the R level but not by half It depend of various factors, in my case since it is going to be air tight ( concrete/waterproof spray and vapor barrier and then other materials over it ) I will be losing around only 1/3 🧐👍Yes Retirement 🤔🤣👍Bonne Semaine a vos deux Cheers 🍻🍻

    Wool like that on concrete in the winter will create condensation and eventually get mold behind. You should install foam board.

    • @RCAFpolarexpress
      @RCAFpolarexpress  4 месяца назад +2

      Good Morning Sir, thank you very kindly for your informative comment, in my case that concrete is really tick ( 14 inches at the top and 16 inches on the bottom and very well tar coated on the outside with 2 sets of french drain ) and it is bone dry and that wool is not not compress into the concrete air will circulate between like a was explaining on my video it is for this reason that I remove half of it and I will install a vapor barrier ( next video !!) The other half of my basement is foam board insulated and it is also bone dry too 👌👍🧐Thank You Again Cheers 🍻🍻

    Great job David, you split the insulation, was this because of the 2x4 wall thickness? Clean neat job, I understand that 15 inches from the floor, prevents wet insulation if something untoward should happen. Its probably cheaper to purchase R20 and split it then R15 and it would be to tightly packed on the wall. Great job, as always stay safe, take care of yourself.

    • @RCAFpolarexpress
      @RCAFpolarexpress  4 месяца назад +2

      Good Evening Sir, Thank You Very Kindly 👍😇 Yes I split to make sure that the insulation was not to much compress and also to create ventilation between the concrete and the fiberglass 😇👍👌 It is also to prevent the base concrete footing and the French drain to freeze like Gator was writing 👍😇 Yes It was cheaper and better to have R 20 for sure 😇👍 Take Care and Keep Up Your OUTSTANDING videos Sir Cheers 🍻

      Good Evening Mon Ami, Fiberglass need proper skin and lung protection for sure 🧐👍 In basement, Styrofoam is OUTSTANDING on wet and not so dry basement but in my case ( bone dry bunker is very good !!! ) Thank You Joe and say High To Chef Celine Cheers 👍👍🧐🧐🍻🍻
