I'll write down my comment here once I got selected in RBI
At the end it's all algebra. Another way of working this out without handling special cases,
(a+b)(a+c) = a²+ab+bc+ac
Reorganizing, a²+bc+a(b+c).
So, say your numbers were 113 and 94, then a=100, b=13, c=-6
Therefore, 100²+(13*(-6))+100(13+(-6))
10000+(-78)+100(7)
10000+700-78
10000+622
So, 10622, as simple as that. No special cases to handle anytime. The sign of b and c will handle it itself
Oh yeah and ofc with practice this can be done mentally as well, just note down the intermediate multiplication results (a², a(b+c), and bc) for ease.

why we multiple it by 2 i dont get it (7:54) why not divide or anything and why 2.....please help I don't want to memorize this concept
Bcz 200 is temporary base so we have to convert it into nearest proper base which is 100 ....when we multiply by 2 it makes balance (200 is 2 times of 100 )

Bro depends on you. you can take base 100 or 1000 to solve this or use calculator whichever is convenient for you.

Sir, I took 39*45, and temp base as 40, with base 40 i got 44|5. So for base 10 it will be 176|5 and final answer will be 1765 , but 39*45 actual answer is 1755.
First it would be 44| -5 as -1×5 =-5.then you would get 176|-5..then we would carry over the six to -5..(10-5=5) remaining will be 175|5..them comes the answer 1755

Sir what if there are two numbers i.e. 148 and 156 and we choose to take temp. Base as 150 then sir i will become more complicated? Or please if anyone know the shortcut plz mention yr. So sir, we only choose mostly 200,300 and so? To do it simple and fast.
As I saw your problem, I got confused too but albeit I tried and tried some questions which came out to be correct when I cross-checked them in the original way.
The only thing you need to change is the multiple when you are changing the base to 100.
For example- if you choose your base to be 150, then when you convert the base to nearest proper base just multiply it by 1.5(150/100 this is what I came up with) and then solve the remaining solution as Ravi sir expalined.
(P.S.- don't take this method into consideration until you try it yourself with lots of questions because I tried with only 5 to 6 questions.)

I got l.h.s= 441 and r.h.s = 882 and base is 100 so if i convort 882 in 82 then ans will be 44282 wich is not correct but if i add 44_1+8_82 =44982 that is the correct ans then how sir's trick work on every number

Hello Chiranjeev,
Firstly take the temporary base as 500.
Then do the following step as given in video.
Convert the base to 100
You will get a negative number on right side. Carry forward 50 (50*100 = 5000)
Do the digit shifting and you will get the correct answer.
