Great video Edward. I just got my Lewitt two days ago and it is amazing!
Fantastic!
happy to see another video, keep it up!
I ordered the NT1-A because you've been so positive about it in all your vids! Thank you!
It’s a great mic for the price 💪🏻
Hii which of this mic capture less background noise of an untreated room?
@@debajyotideb6972 I got the NT1-A and it picks up background noise BUT!! There is a free denoiser which I LOVE, its Bertom Audio Denoiser. Now it sounds so perfect, even in my untreated room.
Thanks for this! You should have recorded without the foam pop filter. This does affect the sound of the mic. Good videos man!
Nice review Edward! I wish i have one of this microphones to start recording my own song. Or any of entry level mic is okay to me. Anyway thanks for your videos Edward i enjoyed it so much. Stay safe! 🙂
Nice mics. I have the Rode NT-1a. Your singing made me hit the subscribe button. Good stuff.
Thank you so much!! 🙏🏻
This maannn daamn good for following.. hands uppp🥳🥳🥳🥳
And his giveaways too.. i wonder some days ☺️☺️
Bt how??
Amazing video as always.
Thanks!! 🙏🏻
another great video
dope content as usual
Thanks 🙏🏻
You've got a great voice. I think I'm going to get the Lewit although I think the rode sounds slightly brighter and slightly better for your voice. Very subtle though.
Heyy amazing too see this review come up was waiting for this comparison for a long time.
Great! Thanks for watching 👌🏻
Nice vid Ed!💪
Thanks!!
Another good one man! Would love for you to check out the Antelope Audio Axino! 18 diff mic modeling with dsp built in! 🤯
Both great mics for the price..Lewitt to me sounds more fuller and natural also less brittle on your vocals...Thanks for the review
Hey thankyou for this ❤
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
hello. can you show me how did you processed those raw vocals on both mics? to me that sounding really really good and clean. i need to try your settings on my mic. hope you can help me. thank you
Love your videos. You don’t know how much you helped me bro much love to you and your Chanel 🖤
Nice vid -- I've narrowed my choice down to both.
Check out the rode nt1
@@dwaaaiii8757 I own the NTK which I love. I think nt1 would be a great choice
@@ontogeny6474 ntk is crazy good !
Nice & Useful Video ...
Niceee bro! great as usual! Could u do a comparison between the WA 87 vs the Neumann Tlm 103?If u do thanks bro!
I'll try!
Thanks Edward. The wide choice of mics these days available at affordable price points can make choosing one an endless task. I'm on the lookout for studio monitors and 2 microphones to kick off recording an EP and album. Yamaha HS5s on the list, plus the Rode NT1-A keeps coming up trumps. What are your thoughts on the seX1s bundle or the se4400a? There's a used se4400a for sale quite localish to me at half the retail price.
So true! Great gear choices here. To be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of SE microphones… I would way rather get the NT1-A, Lewitt or Audio Technica AT4040
@@EdwardSmithMusic thanks for the reply, appreciated 👍
Hey Edward, Thank you for this vlog for, for all the informations as i really looking for which microphone to buy, and i accidentally saw this.
🙂
My pleasure!
NT1a picks up depth of your vocals.
Hey Ed! Try the Stellar x2 it’s “Stellar” 😉🤣
Good Microphone 🎤🎙️ thanks for sharing my friend 🌹
Thanks for watching!
I just picked up both the Rode NT1 5th Gen and the Lewitt 440 Pure to test. They're both VERY CLOSE in sound. The Rode NT1 picks up less background noise (my room has no acoustic upgrades) but the Lewitt 440 Pure has a touch of higher end range frequency and has more of a crackling effect (tube-like/saturation-like). I ended up going with the Lewitt 440 Pure.
I have the Nt1 and the Lewitt lct 440 pure… was a difficult choice but returning the Nt1 and keeping the Lewitt.
Mostly noticed the Rode was smoother sounding and because of this it made the voice clearer and less grating to listen to on long listens. The Lewitt however was more exciting and added an extra layer of presence and drama to the voice.
Also I’ve seen people with smaller, thinner voices always prefer darker, more base heavy microphones with more low end (everyone who has reviewed the Lewitt vs the rode nt1, prefers the rode because of their voice I think, in exception to people with already deep or darker sounding voices) if your voice is mid range or leaning more toward deep and darker then the Lewitt can compliment it best whereas if your voice isn’t very deep and is thinner than the Rode mics might smoothen out your voice as well as add that extra bass to it.
Thanks Ed!!!
I'm learning a lot from you.
I'd love to win one of your Giveaways someday. Stay safe!!!
Off to watch!♨️♨️♨️
First off I prefer the Rode NT1 to the NT1-A but that's not the comparison. The Lewitt 440 Pure adds that high end presence that is ear candy to most people. I would be trying to EQ that out. I'd leave the Lewitt in the drawer and use the Rode.
True
Ear candy sounds positive?
So why would you put it in the drawer?
Candy is sweet :D
Nt1-A is sharp, so is the Lewitt.
can you make a video on lewitt 440 vs rode nt2a
great content, I really like the Lewitt over the NT-1A. Please compare the Lewitt vs. Rode NT-1
I’ll see what I can do 👌🏻
I can compare them . I have nt1 now and will have lct 440 in next 3 days (lewitt is on the road)
@@studio_person which is better?
@@shirtybackup7997 lct 440 is bright, nt1 is dull without high end shine
@@studio_person i have a deeper voice and am gonna be doing bass singing. so i dont think i need brightness. more warmth
If I had up to 269€ to spend, I’d go for the RØDE NT1 instead of the RØDE NT1A, as the NT1 has the smoother, more rounded top end, even more so than the LCT 440 Pure is. For a Lewitt that ticks the boxes of extremely low noise and a smooth top end, you’d have to save up for the LCT 540 S.
the only reason I prefer the NT2A over nt1 it has a lower tone and the nt1 is more pingy higher tone.... not saying bad quality, just saying different tone... depending on what you are doing the nt1 could be a lot better then the NT2A it just depends on your preference
Why wouldn’t you expect a modern, analog microphone in a home studio to last over a decade/forever?
I'm new at this. I heard some good things about the Lewitt LCT 440 PURE and since I want to invest in a couple of nice mics for my home studio (that's being build at this very moment), I thought it was a good idea to watch a comparison video like this.
And when I look at the comments on your video, it seems like the majority of these people prefer the Lewitt, because of the warmth, the smoothness, it's cleaner in the high end, less brittle...., all these things make me doubt my ability to judge sound, because I heard a clear difference between the two mics and I absolutely preferred the Rode NT1-A.
So..., is there something wrong with me?
I remember being in a professional recording studio to record an album. This was a long time ago and I have absolutely no idea what mics were being used for the vocals. But at some point the sound engineer put a mic in front of me and I absolutely loved it. To me it sounded 'crispy' and pleasantly, gently crackling. I told him that's the mic I wanted to use on all of my vocal tracks. He just smiled and told me that every singer always wants this. And yet he chose to use another mic with a flatter and a more boring sound. I didn't understand and to this day I still don't understand.
That crispy and pleasantly, gently crackling sound was something I very lightly and mildly heard back in the Rode. Is there a reason, other than 'a matter of taste', why I should avoid these qualities (?) in a microphone?
If anyone feels the willingness to answer one or two of my questions, then please do. I really want to learn.
Thanks! 😊
Wow… you just described everything I’ve been feeling lately. I’m also quite new at this and I saw everyone in the comments just absolutely loving the Lewitt with some people even saying the Rode NT1-A sounded the worse out of all the mics under $300. However while I agreed with them that the Lewitt does indeed sound warmer, I think the Rode sounds so much better in my opinion? I thought something was wrong with me until I saw this comment, the Rode sounds so crisp and exactly what I would want from a condenser mic, and I think it would work well for many purposes too. Let me know what you went with in the end!
@@alice_so_kattish5445 ; Hello Alice! I had to rewatch and listen to this video again. It’s been a while ago now and I couldn’t really remember.
Anyway, I didn’t buy any of the two. I went a little nuts. There’s a second hand music store in my hometown and they have a cool collection of mics. When I saw they had a Shure KSM32 I had to have it. I play a lot of acoustic guitars and I knew a guy who always recorded his acoustics with this mic (the Shure KSM32). His recordings sound amazing, so I bought that mic (2nd hand). Not just for recording acoustic guitars. It works great on everything.
But I didn’t stop there. I also bought the SE Electronics V7 as an alternative for the Shure SM58. And last week I bought another second hand mic. I couldn’t help myself. I haven’t even properly recorded anything good yet, but I was saving some money to buy some guitar related stuff for a band I was in. And then the band broke up and I used that money to buy the Røde K2 tube mic. I haven’t even tried it yet, but somehow I feel confident that it will sound good. Off course I did a bit of homework, so I think I know what to expect.
I have 5 mics now. I already had a Shure SM58 and a Blue Ember condenser mic. Time for me to stop buying stuff and to start recording. I’m all ready for it. I made sure to spend a lot of time in building something that just looks like something I want to spend all of my time in. It’s a dark place with earthy colours and galaxy lamps to create the effect of working under a star lit sky, lots of (fake) plants, lots of guitars and album covers on the walls, lit with LED lights, neon and a lava lamp, everything within reach, two computer screens, a comfortable couch to relax on, amps, mic stands…, I can’t wait to get there every day. And somehow I think that’s even more important than the mics. I want to feel inspired and so I build a room that inspires the hell out of me. 😬
Both sound great, the LCT 440 is more crisp and clear which has a natural tone to it while not overexaggerating the warmth. The NT1s level of warmth is only evident when compared to something that clear though and it is still quite good. The improvement in the LCT 440 is there, but is it substantial? Not really. Id imagine if I wasnt using studio level monitoring headphones making a judgement would be very hard so that is likely your issue. Edit: The rode has a lot of plosives as well, struggles with P's and S's that the 440 simply doesnt
Nice video man, thanks for including the raw vocals comparison as well... I am still wondering about buying a NT1A or a NT1, do you have any particular preference? I haven't had chance to compare them with my own voice but in paper, I like better the flatter response from the NT1 (much closer to the LCT 440 from this video)...
It depends. If you have a deep baritone voice, the 440 will be better. Tenor or higher, and NT1 will be better. I have all 3 of these mics (NT1, NT1a, and 440). The NT1a and 440 sound very close EQ wise, but the 440 is a better mic. Both have similar presence and air peaks, but the 440 is much smoother and more maliable in post,, with EQ. The NT1 is much flatter than both NT1a/440. It has a slight treble boost, but doent have a glaring 3.5-5k upper mid/low treble boost, and is also warmer in the mids and bass area. The NT1 is probably the most well rounded/balanced LDC condenser mic in its price range.
@@JohnSmith-oe4bw Thanks man, that is exactly the type of detail I needed to hear, I've been leaning strongly towards the NT1, I am a tenor and really like it better when mi mids are warmer and the highs are as flat as possible. The NT1 semms to be the mic that will likely give me the sound I like out of the box and reduce my time in post. No need to keep investigating, I have a clear winner. 👍
NT1A is just harsh. The entire point of the NT1 is that it's smooth and solid, the A version throws that out the window IMO
@@Leo9ine I have the NT1 a not a fan of it. I use the AT 2035 over it. I will be buying the 440 pure soon.
That lewwit is selling me more and more along with akg c214 and aston spirit.
Eagerly waiting for you new music video
Heard the accent and thought must be South African -- nice video bro.
Thanks man!!
Lewitt lct 440 pure is Great competitor of Rode nt1a👍
Both are awesome, but Lewitt just sounds a tiny bit cleaner & warmer to my ear. Having said this, I do own a LCT441 flex (super happy with it!), so now it's the decision what to get as a second large diaphragm condenser - stay with Lewitt or have a Rode for variety and that pinch of difference. A tough choice indeed...
@@dfygj4jgh7h even the best of mics won't perform well in an untreated room. First treat the room, then buy a mic. Basic treatment is not so difficult. You don't even need to spend much on it, or maybe not at all. Just research online.
Hey! Do you know what is the difference between 440 Flex and 441 Flex?
@@arsinbadik I don't know, but I think you can get the info from their website. Actually it is 441 flex or 440 pure. I made a mistake in my original comment
@@arsinbadik lct 440 only has one polar pattern, lct 441 has multiple to choose and I think that is the only difference.
@@xgalactixtoo Thank you so much! :)
👋👋👋👍☺️ LCT осень красиво звучит.
Hey, I saw you recommended the Audient interface in the $1000 studio video, can it run the SM7B without a cloud lifter?
I intend to use the Road NT1a and the Shure for recording vocals and the acoustic guitar.
Thank you for the great videos you put out, hope you can answer me.
yes, but look at SSL 2 or SSL 2+
Don't get an SM7B. Most overrated mic of all time. Get the 440 pure.
The microphone must be as flat as possible, in the master you color with all signals like a painting.....the Lewitt is flatter so better to paint with, You just want that boost or flatten in frequenty what you want an not what it gives al the time at every input
Please I need a mic wish will u suggest for me between Berlinger B2 pro, Audio Technica At2020 and Takstar Sm 10d
Go for the AT2020!
@@EdwardSmithMusic thanks a lot what about at2020 and at2030 have been using c3 I just want to upgrade alittle just need a nice one plz

RODE NT1-A RINGING IN HIGH FREQUENCY BUT WHY?
My favorite Is RØDE NT1
Best pop filter ever (mine is still in the box)
Can i connect this to smartphones?
For the prize Rode win
But for the quality I prefer lewitt
But Luckily
My parents got me the 3rd lewitt mic that you compare at the lewitt comparison
(LoL I forgot the type)
Thank you for the video
Edward
friend, why has the rode nt1a failed me? I bought it and when I use it out of nowhere it stops picking up sound and stops working and it has happened to me 2 times already and they tell me it is the interface but my interface is a behringer which I have put 10 dollar microphones on and they work well So I don't know what is causing this problem or if it is a factory fault
alot of people are saying this I bought one last summer and it started doing the same thing..BEST ADVICE I can give you is to make sure when you connect the XLR to the microphone you heat it CLICK IN PLACE! I noticed mine works when I click it all the way in..I think that's why they come with the rubber band to keep it in place more. hope it helps💯👌🏾
Amazon is selling fake Rode NT1 A mics ie. Counterfeiting. Plzz advice us as to where we should buy the authentic mic.

I would go with the Lewitt
Lewitt

🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
LEWITT 440 better ?
Between these two mics, yes... the 440 is better
What's the difference between the nt1 and nt1-a?
NT1 is relatively flat and neutral, with a slight shelf starting in the mid-treble. NT1-a has peaks at 3.5k and 5k, that make the presence pop. Its a rougher and more jagged sound character, and not as clean or mature as the NT1. It's very pointy, and may sit in a mix well or better than the NT1 with no EQ, but the NT1 will take EQ better, and it will be easier to sculpt the tone. There are several comparison video's already on YT, so you can hear the difference. For vocals, the NT1 will suit more voices. Interestingly, the NT1-A's frequency response seems to works really well for things like acoustic guitar.
Sir please suggest Rode nt2a vs lewitt 441 flex
For professionals studios
I would go with the Rode NT2-A
As an Engineer I prefer the pure 440 because the Rode NT1-A is very irritating to my ears, you will never hear high-end artists sound like that, but I think you need some practice to mix the 440 pure well. Thank you
440 is warm
Both too bright...
أين الترجمة ياصديقي
It's probably over simplification but to my ear the 440 sounds sad and tad darker while the NT1-A is bright and sunny. I think I prefer the 440 with the song you were singing in this video and the overall mood, but your high notes sound really massive and crystal clear with the NT1-A. Both are awesome in their own way
I cannot get the rode to perform for shit. I just get fan noise and hiss in a relitivly quiet environment.
