640 was the most notable jump in quality. The tubes nicely smoothed out mids and highs but didnt add any noticeable fidelity. That being said, the Pure Tube sounded warmer and fuller than the 1040

@@18CC the 540subzero it's a very bright and detailed microphone, so it's less versátile microphone than the 640ts. I love the 540s in foley's, in complex foleys for example very quiet sounds, or when we need a really detailed sound. In musical instruments I prefer as a room mic, but not so close, because it can pick a lot of details. Their sound it's similar but not so close between the 540s and the 640ts. The 640ts is by far the most versatil mic.

LCT 440 is an incredible mic for the money. Anyone who doesn't know much about this stuff and just wants a fantastic sound for minimal fuss should grab one. I spent countless hours/days/weeks/months messing around with other mics for voiceover, ranging from a Yeti (which sounded like ass) to an SM57 (which sounded very good but had a hundred finnicky drawbacks like picking up hum and needing excessive gain and complicated EQing... and still at the end of all that didn't sound nearly as natural as the 440). Bought a 440, spent about 10 mins applying the simplest of EQ and some expander to catch mouth noise and breathing, spoke 30 deg off axis (but still centered on the mic's polar pattern) to avoid plosives and take a bit of the edge off... amazing results. Easy and done. This is what mics should be but so rarely are unless you spend thousands. Can't recommend it enough. The only down side is that the mount and pop filter now appear to be plastic, not metal. But at this price I'm amazed they were ever not plastic.

  • @salossi
    @salossi 8 месяцев назад

Seriously - I couldn`t take a design of studio equipment seriously, if there is a massive window, showing off, that there is a tube inside... It's even worse, if there is an orange LED, illuminating the tube, once the mic is powered on (no idea, if this is the case here, but I've seen it on guitar amps already)....
I'd rather have a tube (working as an impedance converter with extrodinary high input impedance) properly shielded and I would prefer a design that is optimized on performance instead of showing off... e.g. by having the grid pin as close as possible to the high-z area around the capsule... But who knows, maybe the tube isn't in the signal path at all, and these mics might use a fet as impedance converter? Who knows??
Weird design... It's basically done to increase the sales...
Also, all these designs with buiild-in displays, apps, usb-ports and shit like this will end up being electronic scrab in just a couple of years, whereas a properly designed microphone e.g. an old U87, C414 or even those relatively cheap Rhodes and Audio Technikas are doing their job for many years so far and will continue for another few decades without any problems...
So: I'll stick to my old Neumanns, AKGs and my own designs (having the tubes properly shielded, inside a metal housing).

The LCT 441 FLEX buttons are fairly light touch clicks. Easy, click to switch patterns one at a time, either clockwise or counterclockwise. I don't have any actual data, but to me both my LCT 440 VIDA and the LCT 441 FLEX in cardioid sound the same to me.
I actually want to pair these 2 together for mid side.

Hi. Depends on what you are looking for. If you need a straight forward good sounding tube microphone, the PURE TUBE is great… but if you are looking for versatility, the 640 TS is untouchable for the price. Because every take is different and after this singing every time with one different mic is not possible to sound same for the vocalist and also mension the audio interface settings. Your content is amazing btw. Thank You
Edit: I forgot about this also sing loud and soft in these mics. Because in soft vocals all mic sounds best but you sing loud then sometimes it's create buzzing or some high frequencies. I'm not an expert as you are. Maybe I'm wrong in some points. But these are suggestion. Your all video are very helpful. It helps us to decide a good equipments. Thank You

I disagree with this. As a singer, you have to learn how to work each mic, because they're all different. Side by side comparisons don't allow the singer to do this. On acoustic guitar, this is even worse.
This guy is a good singer who's very consistent with his delivery. The method he uses for comparison is the best by far.

@@shannonadkinsmusic5767 A human is not a robot. It's impossible to deliver the exact same take every time. Human psychology also matters. Someone may unconsciously be singing well on a high-priced mic. if all the mics are on the same spot then the result will be authentic. If he is singing blindfold and another person is switching the mic, this will also be good. It's your right to disagree with me. As I say human is not a robot everyone has different opinions.

@@saadayazofficial you don't need to be a robot. If you're good at what you do, you'll be able to get a reasonably consistent take on each mic. This is preferable to having several mics lined up with their capsules inches apart (this will affect the tone more).

640 is the most clear with crisp highs (could be a good or bad thing depending on the sound you're looking for) & both tubes have a nice warm vale on the sound

@@santoshpss it shouldn't with Baritone voices as that depth compansates the high end of the mic. With high pitched voices yeah it can get quite harsh.

Besides the polar patterns, are there any other differences between the 440 Pure and the 441 flex? And if the answer is yes, which one is the best?

I've never used the Flex before... but for me, the 440 Pure is unbeatable for the price.

I’m just gonna say it.. your reliance on autotune ruins all your vocals in your videos. You should stop depending on it so much, I’m sure you have a great voice without it.
As a studying music producer myself, it’s *grating* on the ears all of your vocal in your videos being autotuned and warping your vocals, especially listening to it on all that high end gear. Just wanted to say it because I really don’t think you need to hide behind autotune when I’m sure you have a good enough voice; if you’re really that conscious about it practice more.
Sorry, just wanted to put it out there, best of luck!

This definelty makes me question my singing ability since I've never used autotune in my life, especially when it comes to microphone comparisons 😂
