im flying on a british airways a380 in december and itll be my first ever a380 . im so excited , when i bought my window seat on the upper deck i teared up a little . i know it makes me strange but i love planes and itll be one of the highlights of my trip , especially because i probably wont get a chance to be on an a380 again . longhaul direct routes are often too expensive for me id rather do a layover , but the miami to heathrow flight fit perfectly in with my plans and budget . i cant wait
That sounds amazing! It’s for sure a pretty special experience the first time, there’s no aircraft like it in terms of quietness and passenger experience. Have an amazing trip!
Please drop the lounges when you do economy. Most economy passengers don’t have status. Go into the airport restaurants & see what’s on offer & cost plus the duty free shops. That’s all economy passenger get to see. Thanks. Great vid btw.
Many thanks. Will be showing a little more of the restaurants but as a status holder like so many others, won’t be frequenting them for obvious reasons. Have a great 2024 ✈️
There are several lounges at Heathrow that are pay to enter. You don’t need any status. The bar is free. The food is free and it works out a hell of a lot cheaper than the restaurants and bars.
@paulangeloff400 never thought about a lounge but this sounds fantastic. Any recommendations, I'm a bit lame on foot so shot walking distance is a bit of a point for. Thanks and happy flying
Yank here, I took the British Airways A380 in 2017 and I can tell you it is the only way to fly. I had a window seat in the upper deck and was immediately impressed with the amount of legroom and seat room, and extra storage to put your things in. When this plane takes off, it is so smooth. If you ever go abroad overseas, you need to take an A380 especially BA. As for the video, we don’t need to see Heathrow airport, just go straight to the plane. (although I’m very happy to see Heathrow get an Itsu restaurant! Yumm)
It’s a fab aircraft to travel on for sure. Video has chapters so feel free to skip ahead - check in quite a key part of the flight experience with so many airlines getting this horribly wrong these days. Some good restaurants and even bars coming through now into Heathrow which is great to see!
@@N0bodyKnowsMe yeah I can for sure imagine on that front. I have a review of BA’s very own A350 in economy going live in less than 30 mins, hope that’s useful!
BA have announced in the last month or so that the Bangkok route is to be reinstated in late October, flying out of Gatwick 3 times a week, using old 777 stock. We're be checking it out as I have loads of avios points to use up.
Yeah, great to have the Bangkok route back, perhaps not a great surprise they’re running it out of Gatwick these days with the older leisure fleet. Kuala Lumpur also announced at the same time, good to have that one back on the BA route map. Good luck securing those reward flight bookings!
You’re very welcome! Yeah so, you do see these on Airbus aircraft from time to time, especially in the premium cabins. Would recommend a good eye mask just in case some remain open!
I'm heading over to Colorado in October and I'm supposed to be flying on an A380 on my leg from London to Dallas. I can't wait to compare this to the 777-300LR I flew there on last time I went.
Sounds like an amazing trip, not too sure when they’re due the refurb but hopefully before then! Either way, it’s always a really interesting aircraft to travel on, enjoy!
V useful, thank you. Are you saying you're seatbacking onto bathrooms (row78) does recline just not as far as the rows in front? I was about to book my seat and may choose row 75 rather than 78.
Flying economy in June to LA on the Upper Deck seated next to husband in the 2 seats together. Haven’t had great experience with British Airways (Cancun flight was awful!) but have never been on a double deck plane - fingers crossed it’s an enjoyable flight!!
Keeping my fingers crossed for a better experience for you! Generally the A380 is a fantastic experience. BA’s fleet are in need of a refit it has to be said but if you can get on the upper deck then should have a nice bit of novelty value at the very least. Enjoy!
The two seat configuration in premium economy is usually reserved for severely disabled passenger, who get priority by law on seat selection. be aware if you book such seats, ba will reserve the right to cancel your booking at the last moment and re allocate your seat number. the law prohibit the sale of seats which are suitable for severely disabled passenger to non-disabled passengers. Please refer to eu and uk law definition of what a severely disabled person is in law. Best advice is to choose downstairs as its easier to board, exit, use bathrooms, and there is more space.
Yes, and if it crashes taking off or landing it’s not as far to slide down the chutes etc. premium economy is the way to go if you know well in advance you know when you are going.
@@corts98 hmm yeah can’t quite remember. Recall lying down a bit, that may well have been the flight it kept falling down mind so wouldn’t bank on it going up fully…
Didn’t find them an issue from memory as the queuing area would’ve been behind in the exit area. Perhaps on a more busy service however they may have been an issue. Last row best avoided regardless due to the recline I’d say 👍
What a pity to see that particular 380 looking so tired, have seen many report's from fellow passengers saying the same, BA really do need to a major refurb on the 380 assuming of course that they are going to stay in service for another 5/10 years Food presentation look grim., considering press reports a few days ago that BA are intending to spend millions of £s restoring their image and customer service back to the World's Favourite Airline days they have a lot of work to do (you are way too young to remember those adds on the TV) 😉
Yeah, it’s such a shame. Big refurb on them coming alas, wish I could say when but really not sure. They just leave it waaay too long every time. Food presentation indeed, dogs dinner. Long way from the world’s favourite carrier for sure! 😅
@@Travelsbydreamer well i'm going to fly with the a380 regardless on my upcoming trip, but was considering that particular seat... would you say that the seats in between the bulkhead and emergency exit door would be worth taking (talking about the twin window seats)

I would agree that the World Traveller brand is tired & and needs a huge overhaul. The food offering isn't bad for the economy. Having been based at T4 when this come in to service over 20yrs other airlines are beating BA
Sadly British Airways economy these days is in a lower league than the ME3 carriers. Your seat would have been even more cramped if you had a seatmate. The catering didn't look great to me- portion sizes very small and presentation was unappetising but it's reassuring to hear that it tasted good. Yeah for sure is, well down in the conference division in many ways! Was lucky to have the seat beside me free for sure, that said the space wasn’t toooooo bad. Taste wise though, was only really looking to sample for the benefit of the review but ended up eating everything so on that front, exceeded expectations. Middle East carriers have access to much cheaper fuel & can pour a lot more money into their products than a carrier that has to make a profit. Can’t really compare in fairness .
@@francismcdonnell753 would agree with the sentiment for sure in the sense that the ME3 have a strategic purpose for the countries/emirstes they represent so profit isn’t the driving factor.
