McLaren P1™ GTR meets the iconic McLaren F1 GTR - Geneva preview

Two decades after the McLaren F1 GTR swept the board at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the McLaren P1™ GTR will debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in production form. The striking track-only model is finished in a livery inspired by one of the most iconic colour schemes of modern-day motorsport, in homage to a car which has reserved its own place in history - the yellow and green McLaren F1 GTR, chassis #06R.
The McLaren P1™ GTR will make its global debut alongside the recently announced McLaren 675LT on Stand 1240, Hall 1 at 12.15 CET (11.15 GMT) on Tuesday, 3 March 2015 at the 85th International Geneva Motor Show.
What a stunning video, cannot wait to see and hear this car in person at some point in the future!

P1 is amazing, and I love the new looks and technology. But, my heart still lies with the F1. I love the iconic middle seating positing, the-bolt-action-like 6 speed manual transmission, and the sound of a N/A v12.

I would take the F1 any day of the week over the P1 or any other car.
Harry Baker I would probably take a Ferrari 250 GTO over any car.
If you are able to sell on this said car then yes I would take the 250 GTO, then sell it by a house and my F1

McLaren confirmed themselves that they had a P1 ready for a track test at the Top Gear test track for the recording of that episode. Look up what Chris Harris has said about Ferrari when it comes to road tests.

A lot of people say that McLaren doesn't put passion in their cars. That it's all made from computers. In a way it's true but what some people fail to understand is that Exotic cars started as looking different and unique from your every day vehicle. McLaren seems to be creating that new milestone for all hyper cars. Change is scary but I believe that McLaren is creating the future of cars in today's society
The rear-end of the F1 looks so exotic with the small strip of lights and expose exhaust.

i am tired of seeing my all-time favourite team being beaten over and over again.
You don't realize how outlandish and aero focused today's Hypercars are compared to the F1 era till you see them side by side. The F1 in comparison is modestly styled but we have to remember that for its time it was one of the most advanced homologated street cars to date. The P1 though is just nuts.

This video seems like McLaren is saying the F1 is old and outdated. Sure it's a little old, but it's definitely a record breaker and it deserves to be on top.

Although I believe the P1 is an amazing machine, there's nothing quite like the original F1 GTR. Driving one is still one of the items on my bucket list

They are both race cars and not street legal in their original GTR form.

I would like to see it against the 918 and The Ferrari The Ferrari but no, McLaren and Ferrari together have to be children about it. I don't care if you think the 918 will be faster because of it's 4 wheel drive, if it's so good and enough for you to complain about you should have put 4 wheel drive on the P1.
All this is like saying yeah we built our 2015 F1 car but do we want it to compete against the others... oh hell no that would be dumb wouldn't it!

We all know it's Ferrari that's the problem. Look up "Chris Harris Ferrari Jalopnik" - an insight into what Ferrari are really like with road tests.
Regardless of how things played out on Top Gear. We need to see customer cars in a track battle. I'm not siding with any party. It leaves out the excuses at the end of a car not being production spec.

P1 GTR is awesome and all but the F1 is legendary!
Well The P1 GTR In My Opinion Innovates by trying to have ordinary customers become racing drivers and get themselves up to racing driver ability in some ways. To me that's all that counts to have that thing for a garage 56 Entry This year and next year. So please do yourself a favor and look into a Garage 56 Entry.

I had no idea the P1 was so big! I assumed from everyone's raving about the low rear deck it was another packaging masterpiece... Guess it's just a symptom of the times
P1 GTR in video was widen up front. Road version is very similar size to F1. If I'm not mistaken F1 GTR has wider tires in front and rear.
I am so sad (despite ill never have any of them haha) that the P1 has no go for the streets, unlike the F1, that had number plates...

I'm pretty sure this P1 GTR can be made road legal like F1 model. The hybrid/electric only feature is still a option on steering wheel. With a slight tune,exhaust work and chassis mods a P1 GTR could see the light on road.
We have to wait for program end after 2 yrs. before jumping to conclusions.
