Rick james. Never really cared for him until now. I really started listening to his music now at 33 and i love it. Never realised how talented he was. I love the song ebony eyes by him. He has talent for sure!
I’m 34 I been singin his songs since 3 but I only knew about him thru the media’s view but as I got older I realized how much his songs paved the way for auto tune users musicians
Rick didn't think he could sing? Wow, did he let rip when he was on stage, and was as good as any of the other Motown singers back in the day. r.i.p. Rick
Starting at the :32 mark I could sit and watch and listen to this kind of stuff for hours and hours. Rick James and Tom Flye in the studio it doesn't get any better than this. I would have loved to have watched them work on the Fire It Up album...
That's why I love Rick James. The heart felt tune of his piano. The arrangement of the sax. And the words of his lyrics. As he said it well "very melodic."
Johnny Gill just needed to bow down to that master, instead of trying to sing over him. Always doing too much with excessive riffs and growls. FOH, man.
LMAO! ..i always thought it was just me hatin, but you nailed it... i HATED his loud ass forced growls, and over the top, emotional raspy riffs.. then you see him perform and his eyes bulging out of his head, veins busting out of neck and forehead, awkwardly stiff dancing...Johnny Gill had no swag, no camera or stage presence, and never learned to "sang"...just alot of too-loud melodic, rhythmic growling and barking... with all that said, him and Ralph Tresvant killt it on the "N.E. Heartbreak" album..."Youre Not My Kind Of Girl" and "Can You Stand The Rain" are the best performances of Johnny Gill's life
ok, rick james had an interesting singing voice. there was nothing fake about his singing. neither was teena marie. they both had it going on as far as singing was concerned.. thank u both for all ur music u left. may u both rest in peace. desireehall bx
Rick James was one of the baddest dudes to ever walk this earth, believe that! Does anyone no if this song was every released. I'd love to see the rest of this footage, WTF why tease??
Papa RickJames woulda been 73 in 2021 smh only if he didn’t have them music industry demons on him so bad he’d be a inner city music teacher kids would love his class too
Through all of his wild 😜 and crazy ways... You are loved, deeply appreciated and missed Rick! RIP Rick James
