- OK folks, one of the most anticipated and massively hyped and on-demand TiHYDPs of mine has finally come, it is finally time to cover the world of Phil's shenanigans in another Pokemon adventure this time in the Spanish region of Paleda where the Pigroach himself scams his dents $25 to name a Pokemon that would only be either used once or neglected, charging $100 to put on his DSP-Chu hat on, losing to the champion and School Board professional herself (and one of the many on the list of video game detractor characters), Nemona and still not learning the basic fundamentals and mechanics of how to play Pokemon. Enjoy this 1st half and next week, we will continue with the 2nd half where Phil finishes off the game (or doesn't bother to fully complete it since he wants his new 'Day One Releases for Day One Views.')

1:15:38 i think most people do that. like i said earlier i had like a 7 mon team. most people swap more mons as they see cool new ones but they dont swap this hard. if a mon gets replaced there is usually an actual reason for it like type matchups or just the new mon looking cooler. heck even kids that play these games dont switch mons that much.
And that's why he gets his ass beat so much in this game. Swapping his pokemon so often left them all very weak and under leveled and ensured he never had type advantage. In a way he was doing some kind of fucked up perverse challenge run without even knowing it.
yeah. but also he was really stupid about it. have you ever seen excelblems kmu for fire emblem? if phil wanted to milk the dents he could milk alot more money by just having dents buy the right to say what mon he has to use. the switching really hurt him super hard. lucky for him scarlet violet is not a hard game. @@smward87
Oh joy, between his lack of understanding of basic type matchps, that godawful Pikachu hat that makes Chris-chan's Sonichu medalion look like the hope diamond, and his cringe voice acting(Especially his failed attempt at a Spanish accent for Nemona); I had an immediate gut feeling that Phil's misadventures in Paldea is going to be a painful one! And we're only halfway done, God have mercy on us all!
Yep, we're only at the halfway point of this misadventure of Phil's. And he never learned from past Pokemon playthroughs.

1:01:30 i remember when i found the gym. i got clapped by the level cap and went somewhere else so i didnt run into the "doesnt obey me" problem
The badge system is just too restrictive, that’s the problem.
that too. also i noticed i had a typo cause it sthe level gap that rekt me. but in this game badges shouldnt have been the only thing. since there are multiple ways of progression the level cap thing should have checked what you did in total.
8 gyms, 5 star bases and 5 titans makes 18 checks. the level cap for pokemon obeying you should increase with x things done and not just fuck you for not doing gyms. since i always saw that cap as a way of you becoming a more competent trainer overall. @@mitchdesertsquiddogaming
Sunny (the main character) switches her Pokemon Teams often, due to: Mostly Type Matchups, and baiting certain moves from certain Pokemon, and just switching up the strategy ever so often in her own adventure. The Team Star Barrage would be unfortunately skipped, because it was tiring for the most part.
Good work, my friend. I really loved the intro 😂 And I'm happy to see you caught up on a lot of stuff that I missed out on in the first few parts, I mean, I was watching him grinding and looking specifically for the weakest Pokémon to punch down for so much I could feel my braincells liquifying and dripping out of my ears 😵💫 Also really love the recurring Nemona moments!
Regarding the game itself, yeah, it doesn't look good, but really its not a matter of optimization, its the console itself that is to blame PLUS Game Freak's vision for the title that was clearly beaten into submission to even work on the Switch 🤣 The system is just incapable of doing open world in this style, you might point out to something like Breath of the Wild, but you might also notice that its full of things to obstruct your vision, the world is very "hill-y" and there is almost always a rock or a forest in your way, blocking what comes next from view (which is used to remove that in order to aid the loading and processing). This isn't the case in Paldea, which is mostly just open fields you can see the very end of almost all the time, add that to the amount of moveable objects, Pokémon and people standing on the map, and you've got a really taxing game for the poor Switch!
What I'm trying to say is, there is no patch or optimization that could be done given this design on this system, the only thing they can do is to make the models as low poly as possible without it being PS1 graphics, have everything pop up in your face when you're like 10 feet from it, all while praising the lord when the game hits 30 FPS for 2 seconds! The only true solutions are to either have the game run on the PS5 or PC and optimize it for that, obviously never going to happen (unless the BIG E is involved and some crafty guy manages to tap into the optimization options) or just scratch off this entire version and make another world that isn't so open, a lot more "claustrophobic" with canyons, caves and valleys everywhere! So no matter how much "patches" and "fixes" they do, it will never really run better than it does. Sonic Frontiers had a few similar problems, and both teams are just not that experienced in making open world games, so I look at this stuff as "I hope they learned from it and make something better the next time", but that's just me 😊
The GTA DEFECTIVE Edition and RtH: Retribution however? No, these are pure crap 🤣 The first one is especially unjustifiable considering THIS IS ROCKSTAR! King of the Open World! And its not like you're poor to hire a 17 man team in someone's basement to remake 3 games in a year with a budget of 3 dollars and two shoe-strings 😅 Rockstar really dropped the ball on that one to the point of borderline insulting their fanbase, you have the money, the experience and the resources, you could've straight up fully remade those games with like... a single year's yield from GTA V's online revenue! Yet you choose to skim on us and scam up with this crap.
DSP loved it for no other reason than how easy they made everything, not just with the checkpoints, but most of the levels are broken to the point that they don't work as intended! I remember This one mission in GTA III, early on, where you go to take someone out who works in Chinatown, and when you approach him, he starts running and you give chase, but he runs fast and the other Chinatown gang members try to stop you, so he always makes it to his car and that's the meat of the mission, chasing him and ramming his car until it blows up! This is so early in the game so you probably won't even have a submachine gun for drive-bys. Then came the DEFECTIVE edition, and DSP just LITERALLY went to Chinatown, ran up to the guy and shot him, MISSION COMPLETE! The rest of it never plays out because the game is now SO EASY to the point that the target will never make it to his car. This isn't just a one-mission thing, half of the missions in each game is like that, if not more, where the balance was completely lost and you almost always have no need to chase down people or let the game playout as it should have unless you intentionally let the guy reach the point they should reach! And that's why DSP loved it, it made his "job" that much easier, and he could pretend like he's actually good at the game, versus the fact that his original trilogy playthrough - and the second playthroughs as well to a large extent - are amongst his very VERY worst overall playthroughs!
And finally my friend, please... please... PLEAAAAASE! Do not... EVAAAAAAR... tarnish the name of poor Freddie Mercury by associating it with roachy-boy 🤣🤣🤣

As for the game, I am convinced that while the Switch isn't as powerful as other systems, I still think it's no excuse for Game Freak and TCP to push the game out at a very miserable state, just when Pokemon Legends Arceus (which despite it's problems was a better Pokemon game that ran far better) and the Switch had better looking games that ran much better. Example being Fire Emblem Three Houses, that game had it's flaws but it's a brilliant JRPG that has tons of replayability, a well written narrative, great voice acting, so much to do in the game, tons of opportunities to recruit other characters for a diverse team and such a nice artstyle including anime cutscenes, that's an example of a Switch game that's better than recent Pokemon games.
Also, I apologise for that joke, I just felt Phil's gouty and patchy stache is a ripoff of the iconic rockstar.

Of course not, they really did drop this one and, in my opinion, should've not done something like that. Making a 3D Open World game is very different from making a linear one with the FEEL of an open world like games before it, especially when doing it on a weaker console, again, I find Sonic Frontiers to be a very good comparing point cause its really the same thing, only made for a more powerful set of systems, so those issues were less pronounced, but trust me, they're there. As far as I know FE3H was not an open world game, but yeah, from what I've seen its definitely a better JRPG than Scarlet / Violet, but Pokémon wins out due to brand recognition. The same thing can be said for FF these days, where the games stopped being as good as they were, yet they coasted on their brand recognition for years now.

How to beat any Pokémon game: 1. Collect Pokémon and train them, 2. Keep your starter in your party as a ringer, 3. End battles fast, 4. Rotate Pokémon to level up almost every Pokémon in your box, 5. Develop your final Pokémon for the elite 4, 6. Do all of the opposite things of what DSP does, 7. farm money, 8. Coverage, coverage, coverage.
One of the best TIHYDPS I’ve seen in a while! Easy to follow, entertaining,good edits that don’t mess with the flow or are annoying, love the little goofy story, it’s awesome!
That's what my TiHYDPs are about, always more straightforward, not overusing a gag/edit too much or being too intrusive and always bang on context (or out of context depending on the part of the DSP playthrough edited) and always has custom stories that are part of an alternative universe to the real life. ^_^
I'm not following the lore of whatever's happening but DSP with a portal gun is a really terrifying thought. Well it would be terrifying if he's as (selectively) competent as Rick, but DSP is a dumbass compared to him, so he's likely to get himself killed on a foreign world/dimension.
Well, we'll see what'll happen in part 2 of this TiHYDP. But yeah, Phil still fails as a Pokemon trainer and his incompetency and unwillingness to learn from his mistakes in the past has shown in his Pokemon Scarlet.

So... _Pokémon Scarlet & Violet._ These games are interesting. I think they're pretty fun gameplay wise with a lot of good ideas and a solid story. I like that both _Legends Arceus_ and _Scarlet & Violet_ build on the Wild Area concept from _Sword & Shield._ But man, _Scarlet & Violet_ released way, way, WAY too early.
It's surprising that the higher-ups at GameFreak and The Pokémon Company thought that it was okay to release these games in the rough state they were in. I know that Nintendo has been criticized for some of their spin-off games, not having a lot of content on launch, and it's criticism that I agree with. However, you can at least say that they were polished on release.
I agree with all those sentiments, while Scarlet/Violet are fun gameplay wise, still keeping the traditional Pokemon gameplay, have some good ideas in concept, a better written story and even a promising open world design, the game's problems on the other end really tanks the game with a rough presentation that looks like Gamecube/Wii standards, how too easy the game is (EXP Share should have a toggle button) and it's endless bugs and glitches on launch, while the patches have fixed some of them, it's made little difference to fixing the core problems of the game, unlike Cyberpunk 2077 that had a disastrous launch on PS4 and Xbox One but ended up being redeemed by fixing a ton of the problems and having more polished versions on the PS5/Xbox Series X/S and a more polished launch release on PC, but really Game Freak & The Pokemon Company should've delayed the game until Christmas last year to at least polish up the game and make the game nicer to look at. At least Nintendo's other franchises are well developed and they prioritise quality over quantity.

It´s not like literally EVERY single Rival in Mainline Pokemon Games ( including S/M and Sw/Sh) used a Starter and was also their ACE Pokemon. It´s literally the most predictable part of every Rivals Team in every Game, since they have one since the very beginning. Also you know your Team is bad when every one gets outsped by Skeledirge ( not to insult Skeledirge, I love this croc but Speed is not his specialty ) Also one last Question. Yeah, leave it to Phil’s fans to set him up to fail at the Nemona rival battles. Also, I didn’t call 0utsyder a hypocrite, I am noting that he was being a little too harsh on the game, but I do still critique this game for good reason, but I feel 0utsyder needs to calm down with his takes on games, especially Nintendo 1st party ones, hence why I think he is being hypercritical with some of his opinions at times.

Yep, Phil has proven that even a pathetic 40+ year old manchild losing to a 10 year old Pokemon Trainer and eventual champion is possible, I’d love to see him play the older games and compare it to the most predictable game that journalists have compared a good amount of today’s Nintendo 1st party games to.
@@mitchdesertsquiddogaming as someone who had played a lot of mainline Pokémon games (on actual hardware for the more modern titles and emulation for the older ones), old Pokémon would kick Phil’s ass, mainly due to the lack of quality of life changes that Gen 4 and onward would have brought. im not mad, alot of people knew about this it amde the rounds almost immediately and i used it a little bit before i found where climbing was at.
Again, Phil relies on his chat handholding his playthroughs which is why Phil is a weak gamer.
Playing the game personally was really fun tho. i think i had a guardevoir, ampahros, phidough, crueledge, Quaquaval and tinkaton. tho i switch the phidough at some point to a Clodsire cause going with 3 fairy types into the elite four was just asking to get murdered. so before entering i did the swap. this team was a beast tho. i wonder how phils endgame team ends up and how shit it will be.
Yeah, the game still plays like a traditional Pokemon game, but it has a ton of glaring flaws that makes it more inferior compared to previous releases and most of the Switch Pokemon games have been rather lacklustre (apart from Legends: Arceus).
biggest flaw is the lack of level scaling in the open world game. because nothing blocks you you can do things heavily out of order. only reason i wasnt undertrained for endgame is cause a friend told me what endgame levels is@@mitchdesertsquiddogaming
Phil why do you have to insult all of the characters in this game. I mean from nemona and that stupid accent you gave her. To arven and that snarky high class voice. To even not taking penny and team star seriously. Let me tell you i love the characters in this game. Arven, penny, and nemona, those three are so much fun characters and i will never ever forget them three. And to add the dlc characters are great as well karmine and keiren are great characters and i really enjoyed the stories as a whole.
And let's not forget team star I love them. While yes I would love to have a new evil that is not twist. But team star I am happy they aren't that. Let's just say call me a honorary member of team star.
Yeah, it's Phil who has to be such a Killjoy when it comes to any games that are not American made and the utterly cringe VAs Phil made was incredibly painful to hear, especially his racist voicing of Nemona and his trying to make her sound like Speedy Gonzales.

I admit I'm kind of guilty of doing something similar. Back when I played the Teal Mask for the first time, I had heard that Carmine was implied to be a racist, so I decided to do a Wakka impression while reading her dialogue. 😭

Yeah, he will be just as bad as he was in Three Houses, forcing himself into battle while being so underleveled like in any RPG playthrough of his.
three houses was so miserable holy fuck. and all cause he didnt bother with battle prep. tbh in alot of my engage run i didnt inherit skills cause i didnt know that, for example, buying avoid +10 makes avoid +20 cheaper. i thought it would be wasted sp to buy the low stuff till a friend told me otherwise. and i still played well and by the end had 2 gods on the field. louis with his defense so strong not even the fell dragon could scratch that armor and panette who i completely trusted with going to one side of the map and killing everyone there canse van wrath is broken. @@mitchdesertsquiddogaming

And all because the whole open world aspect was created without a waypoint of which gym, titan or Team Star base to go in order, Game Freak didn't really care about the level wrapping when this game was under development. At least the Fire Emblem games had you grind for levels to get prepared for the later battles in the story, yet look where Phil was in Three Houses.
Fire emblem also has a prep screen where you can see levels BEFORE the fight allowing you to see when you are screwed and go grind. @@mitchdesertsquiddogaming

yeah sending phil any money is already stupid but you can exploit the shit out of phils system if you want to.

this is the biggest problem in this game. it wants to be open world but doesnt even have a hint of level scaling so the free form order that the game wants to encourage cant be done.
cause either you will be underleveled and crushed like here
or you are overleveled and just delete folks say for instance if you do all the gyms before even trying a team star base or if you just do things in the wrong order.
Yeah, GF’s lack of level scaling is how bad the progression gets confusing because you’re in the unknown until it is too late.

Good grief. Phil look i like scarlet and violet and for me the only glitch i went through was the elite 4 music and the stuck on something when falling. While yes that was patched out and yes at least the fall glitch teleports you out of it. The glitches have been a problem for others. And man look i might have benn lucky with glitches doesn't mean the ones people have shouldn't be accountable for the games. I might love scarlet and violet. But its more for the characters and thw stories in it. And i like the new pokemon. But it should not be used as an excuse for how the games where gandle and agould have been worked on longer and should be better and rushed out to be like how call of duty does it. And game freak i love pokemon i don't love how it is being handled for a while now. And mitch i am looking Forward for part 2.
Yeah, blame Game Freak and the Pokemon Company for bypassing quality control and releasing the game too soon, this game could’ve had more development time but it is what it is. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy more salt to come in part 2.

DLC is not that bad Mitch I just want to tell you that
I unfortunately cannot go into the DLC of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet after the problems of this game, because I feel after Sword and Shield did that to the missing Pokemon, I am not going to fall for that, I'd rather pay for some good DLC like Splatoon 3's Side Order.
oh boy this playthrough. i only have seen clips from the end of it so this will be something. at least he didnt mess up his characters pronouns (seriously gamefreak why did you tie that to the fucking hairstyle at the start of the game)

Yep, he could’ve had a better layout and a green screen like our Gaming Jesus DanteCrysis, but nope Phil has to say it’s his way or the highway.
doesnt even need to be a cool layout. all phil needs is scenes in obs. one for his podcast, one for normal gameplay, and one for special gameplay where the camera needs a special spot. plus one without camera if he wants to show off stuff. no effort, easily doable and it saves his stuff. i help out with tech at rrlat and learned alot of things through it. @@mitchdesertsquiddogaming
the 25$ to name a pokemon thing is so trash. its so much money just for a name that will not be there for long. you are better off just buying the game yourself.
